I've been looking through Newegg and stumbled on Samsungs low profile kits. I usually mostly ignore Newegg reviews, but the fact every review was shining and talking about their overclockablity and low temps/volts at high speed caught my eye. People are claiming 2188MHz out of the box. Does anyone have any experience with this RAM? I may be very interested in it for my upcoming build.

Many threads / comments around about these, but the summary is that they are an excellent option. I believe they are the only modules running 30nm chips and every account I have seen talks about how high they can overclock and also how tight the timings can be run at lower speeds. I would pick some up if I wasn't already fully stocked in my rigs.

I've had a pair of those as well. Excellent ram for the value. Cant remember what I had it at though

I've ran several sets of it, the best did 7-7-7-20 1600mhz at 1.45v and 9-10-9-24 2200mhz (X79) at 1.55v. It is very nice, although it looks wierd as the RAM barely clears the slot it is so short.

This is some seriously impressive kit! $50 for these speeds and timings?!

Time to sell my current RAM and upgrade!

Buy an aftermarket RAM cooler to put over them if you want to "hide" them.

Yeah, they're so small, I had to make sure I wasn't picking up some SODIMMs.

The only negative thing I have to say about these is...the packaging sucks ass. Shrug. As long as things work out, not a big deal, but I miss having some nice packaging that comes with Corsairs I've bought, made it nicer to put the RAM back in if I have to start troubleshooting things.

Yeah I hated the packaging too. When I first got mine I tried the best to open the package without ripping everything apart. After a few minutes I was like fuck it, this isn't reusable.

Most say that anything over 1600 will net you almost nothing in terms of performance?

If so, I wouldnt sell my current ram just to get the same plus a few percent jump.

RAM coolers never improve looks.

Typical person who's more impressed with style over substance

what are the OC potential of 32 gigs of this stuff in a RIVE at 1.5v? 2000+ low timings? anyone have similar setup with 8 sticks of this stuff?

Real world performance, anything over 1333 on a SB or IB setup yields no performance increase.

I've tried 3 different sets of 2x4GB kits of this ram hoping to be able to go beyond 2400mhz and I haven't had any gold sticks yet.

Best I have gotten is 2133mhz. I've seen some people get this ram going much faster.

It's good ram but from my experience there is no guarantee that it will go as fast as higher rated sticks that cost more.
