Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

can any one help me and my bro gets though inferno it is very slow going as a wd that cant afforded to gear up

So with the Inferno nerf coming soon I decided to go ahead and give Act 2 one last push with my barb to see how far I'd get.

And BOOYA! - Pre-nerf Inferno Act 2 completed :D :D :D - with a barb, arguably the weakest end game class right now.

Dropped my health and DPS for +All Resists some more, to end up with about 40k health/10k Armor/1000 All resists/15k DPS. Managed to kill Zultan Kulle with 5 stacks of NV, as I was able to kill about 60% of the elite/champion packs I came across. Killed Belial on my second try, the 'Ignorance is Bliss' rune on Ignore Pain saved my hide a couple times during the fight. I feel accomplished, as playing a melee class end game right now is extremely frustrating unless you're very twinked out which 99% of players won't be.

Completed the first quest of Act 3 to light the beacons, but currently impossible for me to kill elite or champion packs in Act 3 right now, their life/damage is insane.

Congrats. Beating act bosses in inferno feels great.

With the new changes in 1.0.3, I wonder if I should start farming Act I again. I've gotten "comfortable" doing Siegebreaker runs (I probably average 40 mins per run), but I still go on pretty major death streaks. With repair costs going up and with less emphasis on bosses dropping loot, I feel much more compelled to do easy farming runs. Dying in Act I is very rare and its easy enough to go through with mf gear on all the time. The sheer amount of gear that drops is enough to make a steady gold income. I've yet to hit any real jackpots in Act III so far, so I wonder if that chance was ever really worth it, given my circumstances.

Question for all the Barb players...at what point do you HAVE to switch to 1h + shield in order to survive? I'm level 50 right now, currently on Diablo on Nightmare (haven't beaten him yet but then again I've only tried it once). Thus far I've powered my way through the game with a very AoE-heavy 2H build (Cleave + Rupture, Overpower + Killing Spree, Revenge + Best Served Cold, Ground Stomp + Wrenching Smash, Earthquake + Giant's Stride) and I find myself doing pretty well, but I do struggle on boss fights and heavy-hitting mobs. Just wondering at what point in the game will I have to go for a more defensive and tactical playstyle rather than the "run in and smash" build that I'm using right now.

For me it's probably after Act 1 Inferno. I still use dual wielding at the moment but I might switch to give it a try since I can't survive Act 2 with a just a few hits. I need to beef up my res. and armor since they're only 400/7500 respectively. I can give Act 2 another run when the nerf comes out tomorrow

damnit. finally get a chance to play for a few hours and the server goes down =(

I remember someone posting a screen shot of a full inventory of unidentified rares that they were waiting for post patch to identify. Blizzard fucked that plan good.

As a reminder, we will be nerfing "Increases Attack Speed" (IAS) effects on all items except quivers with the 1.0.3 patch. Please note that this change does affect unidentified items as well, as item affixes and ranges are determined at the time of an item being dropped, and not when identified.

well since this is the first big change patch now is when we'll know if these guys are completely stupid. Expect things to suck todya

Why even have the identify thing? It literally serves no purpose.

For me it was Act 3 on Hell. At that point good armor rating and All Resistance stat starts to become REALLY important. Doubly so when you reach Inferno.

What, like this?

I've been using extra characters as free storage space.

True. In Diablo 2 it did serve a purpose, kinda, as you had to collect scrolls or haul the items to Cain. It was part of the gameplay. But here its just waste of time, right click and wait. I never understood this change.

So you can stack them in your bags until you're in a good enough mood to not /wrists when you get level 44 items in Act III and Act IV of Hell.

I believe I read a post, on the battle.net forms that said not-identifying anything, in hopes that after the patch goes live the items will be better is faulty. The post said that the item values are determined when the item is dropped not when it is identified.

How much money have you guys made so far?

I am up to 42 dollars after fees. Around 50 ish without fees. I am xfering everything to Paypal though.

I have two friends who are over $500 now. But they have both been playing the ah alot, buying low and reselling things.

My brother cashed out and bought a GTX 680 with the money he made.

Another friend bought a GTX 670 with his earnings. Both have plenty of money left over too...

I could sell my gear for a boat load... but I don't need the money. Is it sad that I value the time I spent getting my gear more than $500+ ? Logically It would value my efforts at $3 an hour if I were to sell... There's some sort of sentimental value to the gear I got, can't place it exactly.

Well 103 is now out.

Official patch notes (Not copying here, its a HUGE wall of text):
http://www.diablofans.com/news/1253-patch-103-official-patch-notes/

One big thing I just noticed:
"Magic Find will no longer be considered when looting objects in the environment such as chests, barrels, vases, pots, and corpses"

MF was already useless. sigh.....
But yeah, looks like the 50% cut on IAS wasn't a lie.

"Destructible objects no longer have a chance to drop items, and will only have a small chance to drop gold when destroyed"

No more pot gold farming

rofl on the nerfs - too slow to prevent farmers from affecting the economy, too fast to let the normals catch up to the inflation. Repeat scenario ad naseum. Only option to buy items is on the RMAH. Kudos to Blizzard for thinking that one out.

So with the new patch, why bother even playing Acts 2-4 in Inferno? Unless they seriously nerfed those acts (or buffed Act 1), I can breeze through Act 1 (and pretty much survive 2 elite packs at once with practically any combo), whereas it takes a long time for the other acts and struggle with just single elite packs. I'll take a 2% chance over an 8% chance because of this.

What a terrible patch. Even for a reasonably casual player like myself (I have one character in Hell Act II, and that's it), this sucks. No more items from pots? Less gold from pots? Fewer items from weapon stands, IAS nerf, all while boosting the cost of repairs?

I don't get it, why make all these changes? Many of them look to be focused on decreasing the amount of in game gold in the world... inflation a problem maybe?

I like all the changes except no more Magic find for pots and repair cost.

I never buffed my attack speed because I knew it would get nerfed eventually. I did not build around Life per Kill and exploited Hydra or summons so don't mind that going.

Weaker Inferno Monsters, Better drops in act 1 and 2 is enough to make this patch solid.

I am going to goblin farm act 2 till my eyes bleed because the removal of the goblin in act 2 in sure to be the next to go.

It is incredibly short-sighted to think barbs are the weakest end game character. Properly geared, hell, even equally geared vs ranged (DH,wiz,WD) barbs die maybe 1/10 of the time b/c of the superior tanking skills and 30% dr.

Frankly, i think that 30% will be revisited in a few months.

It was to stop people (bots) from pot farming.

I switch on my barb to shield once I hit Inferno. Now on Act II and still got some gearing up to do, have 10k+ armor
