Battlefield 3 Premium Expansion (PC) $42.75

Is it safe to assume that this will be a required purchase (or purchase each expansion separately) for those who wish to continue playing BF3? If that is the case I'm glad I never bought BF3.

If you don't want to play the DLC maps, then the base game maps and modes would still be readily accessible.

damn - I bought it several days before the release for full price.

Either way -- it's actually DLC worth the money if you can believe it. Maps are fun, weapons are badass. I'm having a blast just from the pack that just came out, 3 more in the pipe over the next year :)

good deal.

Are these new "badass" weapons available outside the expansion maps? So is there a pay-to-win aspect in buying the expansion?

That's what I needed, thanks! I traded in disciples ii (was free and mentioned on here a month ago) and somehow had a 1.50 credit, though I've never ordered anything there. Got it for 36.25. Nice!

Waiting for a better deal. The doc is worth it to most bf players. The reality is that the doc and expansion packs are actually worth buying bc people play them. Except for gun master which i believe will be a ghost town soon.

No they're not, but they aren't better than the vanilla weapons. The have a placebo effect on most people.
I still use the vanilla weapons, and most of the people who are very good at the game do also.

Was cheaper at Gamefly with the coupon I let expire.

Still waiting for $30 or less.

Though with those that bought it can you clarify: Once you buy this, you get the DLC for life ,correct?

Did you mean no they're not available outside of the expansion maps? I believe they are. One of the advertised features is that you can take your new gear with you to the other maps.

See: http://gamersushi.com/2012/06/18/battlefield-3-close-quarters-dlc-impressions/

According to them, you can use across all maps. The gear is small and was probably slipped in to everyone's client with a patch, thus we all have it, we just have to kill someone carrying a new gun (if we don't have it ourselves) to play with it until we die (by picking it up).

I haven't played BF3 in about 3 months. It just isn't fun like 1942, BF2 or BFBC2 were.

It's dull

You can use the new weapons outside of Close Quarters of course. They aren't any better than the base weapons. They are there something fun to unlock for those that buy the expansion. It is not Pay 2 Win like APB as these weapons aren't better then what is already available. It's all about having something new to do while playing your favorite game to keep it fresh.

I don't see how Premium is a bargain at $50. It may cost less than buying all of the expansion packs together, but what if you don't like all of them?

If I only like CQ for instance, I'd rather just buy that for $15 or whatever it costs.

Just don't even consider it to be an expansion pack. It is more like map packs for $15. Unlike old times where the new map packs are sponsored by a company, this one you have to pay for

Battlefield 3 is still fun. I don't know if i want to pay another $50 to unlocks extra maps.

what about paying for something not even created yet.

i wish i could sell some shit i have yet to make... i'd still make it but the gullible people giving me their money might not be happy with it. also, i would take off 5% of the asking price and call it the deal of the century.

Gamefly has BF3 for $27 digi code with coupon code SLICK0611 (expires soon)

I think this is the cheapest I've seen...previous best was $30 many times

It is called a preorder. They have been around for decades.

The actual game costs less than the dlc.............................

The actual game costs less than the dlc.............................

well yeah....but gamefly generally has this for $60...and most retailers sell BF3 on a daily basis of $40-$60....it will drop to $30 or so when retailers have sales

I'm not complaining at all...the standard BF3 with NO expansions added on is easily worth more than $30....yes I use to be part of the nay sayer crowd....Origin hate, yada yada....I was part of that crowd, but after playing it since last week...I have been proven wrong by EA/DICE, simple as that...I have no issues with bugs or crashing....the origin interface is easy to use and is not clunky....everything just WORKS and the game is bloody fun

Guess I am just bitter. BF2 had both great mods and a great expansion with Special Forces. Both mods and that expansion were pretty much completely different games and well worth what they are charging now. I think the CQ might indeed be worth it to some. I just don't see the need to pay $50 for a map pack. Now the other DLC might well be worth it but for now, for me? Pass. Still enjoying vanilla BF3.

yeah I agree $50 is kind of a gamble....considering only two map packs are out....they are fun and worth it IMO...but who knows about the future ones

I just went ahead and bought the premium with BF3 last week....I considered it a tip to EA/DICE, even if I don't like, or never play the future map packs....they deserve it because BF3 vanilla is so damn good

Well I was referring to what most "reviews" are saying. None of them seem to mention the possibility that the rest won't come out. I imagine if that ever happened there would be some kind of rebate or something on EA's part.

That's pretty much a 100% tip you're giving them. Isn't buying and playing the game enough validation for DICE's efforts?

Well if you think about it. You buy the food and enjoy but yet you still tip the waitress if you felt really good about the service. In that view, I see his sentiment as pretty solid.

At 43 bucks, it's what I originally paid for it.... I'm leaning towards just grabbing it.

Worth it IMO @ $43...

Gun Master (gun game pretty much from CS) is cool as hell and the small maps are a welcomed change. Gives alot more gameplay options if you get bored with something.

I second that. Just finished playing some rounds on Gun Master and it's pretty badass. Tying the new mode w/new maps and little features totally makes it worth the purchase. If they keep stacking on modes and slight changes like they did with close quarters, it will be even better.

So if your meal costs $30 you leave a $30 tip?? I thought it was custom to leave 15-20% If not I need to get a waiter job where you live.

On June 26 it will be on sale individually for much less than $43.

Yes but I will enjooy whatever new additions and maps come later on as well. Im sure itll be on sale for less, but probably $20 at individual release, dropping to $10 or $15 by the release of the next expansion.

Im not one to wait to save $5 or $10 bucks.

EDIT: Maybe it wasn't you who brought up tips, but anyway, for whoever brought it up:

I really don't think you understand how tips work.

You receive nothing for a tip because you give it after you have been given the service/goods, as a reward for good service.

This is the purchase of a package of DLCs for what adds up to be the same price as the game. You are getting content, it's not just a "tip" for DICE.

All that said, do I think this is worth $40+? No. I probably wouldn't pay more than $20 for all of it.

Is this not for U.S. customers? I'm having the most difficult time getting this thing ordered.... It didn't let me log into my bank for the second step of verification at first, now it's telling me my card numbers are invalid?

Am I being retarded?

My brother had an issue ordering this deal through GMG. I used my paypal and it went right through...he couldn't even use my ppal because it's to a different email. :/

Yes, its for US customers. I think you are being retarded :) Not sure? I think they have a paypal option, try that.

I don't have a Paypal, or I would definitely try that route. I guess I'll try again later and hope for the best. It's bizarre that it's not accepting my card numbers, but whatever. I don't really feel like calling them since they are from London. Thanks for verifying that it works for U.S. customers though!

I hear a lot of complaints with using anything other than PayPal with GMG. I think the problem with a lot of people was that their CC company was witholding the charge until the customer called up their CC company and confirmed that it was a legit purchase. However, it still seems strange since I've use CC's without a prob for other foreign transactions, though maybe things have tightened up over the years.
