27" IPS 2560x1440 monitor~90hz <$400 FS

Man sooo tempted to buy one of these, just don't want to take the performance hit at that res. Wondering how playing games at 192x108 look?

Playing a MMO WWII airplane sim on it at 1920x1080 and it looks great. The lack of antiglare seems to make up for any scaling. DO IT.

Arrrrgh the temptation is too damn great!!!

Anyone got any close up pics, that'll seal the deal for me lol.

has anyone bought one with HDMI cable? they costs are like $430. ( Has HDMI. DL-DVI, D SUB, 2W speakers and stuff)

also there is version with tempered glass which is like $350 so was wondering if it's worth buying it or not.

Tempered glass is even more reflective and often has dust specs trapped behind it, it isn't worth a $60 premium over the other $290 models imho.

The ones with hdmi we've been referring to as models with a "scaler" so you'll see some discussion on it in this thread, and the main discussion thread. Microcenter also carries one for $400 and here are the two discussion threads on it: 1 and 2.

Can't believe this. People are getting 2 for what I paid for one what, a month and a half ago? So frustrating.

he said 270 each not for both of them... unless you paid 540 for one.

This would be correct... my grand total was $540 shipped.

Mind informing us (or just me) the seller who accepted your offer? :)

He has/had "Make an Offer" enabled. How my negotiation went:

1) I originally offered $255 per unit, qty:1.
2) He/she declined and stated, "Discount only on multiple units".
3) I offered $260 per unit, qty:2 ($520 total).
4) He/she countered with $280 per unit, qty:2 ($560 total) and indicated that "this is as low as price can go".
5) I countered with $270 per unit, qty:2 ($540 total) and told him that's the most I could afford, and thanked him/her for his continued patience with me.
6) He/she accepted my counter-offer of $270 per unit within 10 minutes of my counter-offer, I paid 10 minutes after that and it's leaving South Korea less than 2 days later!

My buddy had less luck--he offered $270 and was promptly declined. He offered $280 and didn't hear back from the guy yesterday evening, so he's ready to cancel the offer and just buy one at $290, so negotiating is definitely YMMV!

I did notice in the feedback section that someone provided feedback and the price paid was listed as $286... not sure if it ever went that low as a "Buy it Now" price, but if not this could indicate that he/she has been knocking off at least a few dollars for those providing "reasonable" offers.

I should have never clicked on this thread or the ones in the display forum.... I now want another job so I can justify this.

I have been tempted by these, but I am spoiled by my NEC 3090. I would probably hate getting one of these panels compared to what I have now :D

Are you trying to justify the exorbitant price you paid for your NEC? It was not worth it.

My buddy got his monitor yesterday, so far he thinks it's DoA... kinda' a bummer. :(

My two were out for delivery yesterday, but they required a signature. They were gonna' try to deliver last night but didn't make it for the re-delivery, so it's out for delivery now. Here's to hoping I got two fantastic monitors!

Got mine today. I ordered Friday afternoon and I live in Florida. Ridiculous shipping time. I can NOT believe the difference between this monitor and my old 23" 1920X1080. I am in love!

PS: Not a single stuck/dead pixel!

This threads gotten insanely long.

Which models are the best deal now and who has the best/fastest shipping?

Nice piece of information on your negotiations. Thank you.

Considering I only paid $875 for my NEC then I think you are just being a tool. Yes, it was more than worth it. Not to mention NEC's customer service is literally the best in the business. The first 3090 they sent me was defective. They drop shipped a new one with next day shipping and picked up the broken one. No cost to me at all.

These 27" monitors are a good deal, but only if you plan on using them for less than 5 years. I doubt many of them will last longer than that.

The parts inside the Korean monitors are actually decent. I can't vouch for the edge-lit backlight and it's longevity, but the individual boards are all known name brand stuff from MFR's that even NEC has used. Most manufacturers seem to choose from the same pool of commodity parts, but back it up with different warranties and levels of service.

Is it possible to have a bad batch of boards with a flaky sourced part? Of course, it'll take us a few years to find out though ;) but that can happen with any brand (Samsung capacitor fiasco).

The external power supply can be hit or miss depending on brand, that's easily replaceable for $25. My Catleap came with a Welltronics power brick by the way.

These Korean panels are a value play of the highest order imho, you get a good overall product for a rock bottom price. We are taking a risk but we also save a ton of money by skipping the warranty and customer service. I think there's also something else afoot here, i think LG had ramped up production on 2560x1440 panels, they may just be a commodity part now, and we are finally seeing the price trickle down to us here in North America (EQD Auria model at Microcenter, Ebay monitors etc).

Exorbitant? he probably purchased his 30" NEC before these Korean models rolled out. At that time $875 for 30" 2560x1600 was a hot deal backed up by a great warranty and customer service, he did extremely well imho.

I ordered the Q270-lite ($290 from red-cap) last Wednesday, and they made a delivery attempt on that following Friday. I was shocked at how quickly it came!!

Ended up picking it up from DHL on Tuesday this week, and the thing is perfect... no stuck/dead pixels, no ridiculous backlight bleeding. I couldnt be happier!

Just to note, I have had my NEC 3090 for 3 years now. Still in perfect shape :D

As I said earlier, these 27" monitors are a good deal and very tempting. The only way I could justify purchasing them though is if I went with a 3 monitor setup. I am reluctant to do that since I would also have to purchase a good stand for each one since I would want to run them in portrait (4520 x 2560 FTW) :D Also, if I did that I would have no use for my 3090 :(

There are lots of triple monitor stands available around the $100-150 mark.

Nice piece of information on your negotiations. Thank you.

And as a proof/follow-up:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

As of this morning my review is roughly 7th from the top, includes the sales price at $270 per. (Had 2 people PM me telling me I was lying... how odd that someone would care?)

Also, as an update, both of my monitors were received in excellent condition. No dead pixels, no backlight bleeding, no oddities of any sort. If I can't find a dead pixel after 2 minutes with a dead pixel finder that's good enough for me! I am using a dual 2560x1440 setup (center monitor with right 2nd monitor) and viewing angles are quite acceptable. I do need to build some kind of stand (or purchase a new computer desk, which I'm way overdue for) at some point to get the monitors sitting higher, since the stand has them sitting quite low compared to the two 1920x1200 monitors I had before these.

I got my shimian monitor yesterday and it has 2 dead pixels right next to each other and a green stuck pixel. Ran some flashing color boxes on the pixels and its still there :( Otherwise it's a beautiful monitor...

I have a couple of dead pixels myself. They're off to the side and don't bother me too much. Green stuck pixels are really annoying. I've had a couple of displays with one. Not once has udpixel or jscreenfix worked for me.

Yea the dead ones don't really bother me, in fact I barely notice them. The green pixel on the other hand makes it hard for me to enjoy this monitor. I've tried all those tips and so far nothing's worked...

Yeah, stuck pixels are very annoying.

Have you tried giving the stuck pixel a massage? Or maybe that only works with TN panels.

Yeah, I guess I'll probably just have to deal with it. I've never really had much luck removing stuck pixels in the past.

Grabbed the Auria 27" 2560x1440 LCD from Microcenter today. No stuck/dead pixels I can find. The bottom right corner has a bit of backlight bleed, but is only noticeable on dark screens and is far less than the bleed on my other monitors so it doesn't bother me.

I love the screen real-estate, and the peace of mind of having a physical store to return to was worth the extra money. This thing definitely needs a new stand though. It wobbles like crazy. I've got it wedged between two other monitors right now so it doesn't move much at all, but a new stand is definitely in the works.

It sometimes takes the stuck pixel software a lot of hours to work. I'd say i have a 2-out-of-3 track record in fixing them, whether it's a pixel massage, flicking them with my finger carefully using just a tiny bit of force, or using pixel software. I've done it with TN, IPS and VA panels.

But honestly, the pixels are so tiny on 2560x1440 displays that it's hard to spot them even with sharp vision, you have to purposely look for them, which makes them easy for me to ignore.

I have the exact opposite experience, if a pixel is stuck it is just bad IMO. Sometimes I can massage it out, or use software but even then it will eventually come back.

Are you also referring to your experience with the smaller pixels on a 27" 2560x1440 display ?

I've always put a little work into stuck pixels when they are bigger pixels, but with these tiny ones i would hardly bother.

But i also realize that everyone's tolerance is different, and that not everyone will feel the same as myself.

Got mine from red-cap ($290). Ordered Sunday, shipped Tuesday, arrived today (Friday). No stuck/dead pixels.

I've had UDPixel running around the dead/stuck pixels for maybe 13 hours and still nothing. Tried massaging it and applying pressure, and flicking it, this pixel wants to stay.

And I have to disagree about it not being noticeable. I replaced a 27.5" 1920x1200 screen (very large pixel pitch in comparison to this) that had dead/stuck pixels in similar places. One was dead near the start menu like my shimian (though this time it's 2 next to each hour, though even that isn't too noticeable) and another was blue pixel right around the same spot my green pixel now. The blue was only noticeable in black backgrounds, and just barely. On my shimian its very noticeable on anything somewhat dark. I also had a red stuck pixel on my 27.5" which you would think would be annoying but I had to look hard to find it. That's not the case on this monitor. Even though the pixel pitch is higher, the individual pixels str really noticeable when their a bright green color.

Anyone find a set of monitors that work well with any of these monitors in PLP (Same vertical resolution when turned sideways, matching visible screen size)? Doesn't seem to be a common screen size and resolution any more.

I am in pretty much the same boat you are. I paid ~$990 after discounts for my ZR30W last fall. While I would love to do triple monitor gaming, shelling out for a heavy 3 portrait monitor stand and rendering my current toy useless make it a less than appealing proposition for me... and does make me a little jealous of everybody who can now get in on high res gaming for cheap.
