well i did manage to find some htpc in a box clearance at 75% off. that was one good thing

yes because they dont use street slang when trying to sell tvs. i want to shop at best buy, not the homeboy shopping network

Well, I've always been a sucker for free Gideon Bibles...

I never considered Best Buy an "authority" on electronics. Granted, I've been fortunate enough to have almost always lived near a Fry's Electronics. Fry's has its share of customer service woes but when it comes down to the most for your dollar or a large selection of on-the-shelf product, they are tough to compete with.

Oh. So only white people mastered the English language. Got it.

I can't take anyone seriously when they can't even correctly pronounce the word "ask." They lose all credibility in what they are trying to say/explain just like those who say Ubishaft, M$, e.t.c.

A few things that would help.

1) You get 100x the foot traffic I do for computer services. You should be able to afford to charge Less than me, not multiple times more. It isn't like you are paying those kids who aren't actually computer techs more than $10 an hour anyhow. Given how quickly 90% of computer problems can be resolved, it should be pure profit. However since you fired all of us who actually were techs and hired a bunch of puppets to push service plans, no wonder your tech bench is the laughing stock of the tech world.

2) Train your blue shirts like you did in the late 90s and early 2000s in their specific departments. Someone who actually knows what they are talking about sells more than someone pushing service plans.

3) Accessory attachment is not a game the employees or the customers enjoy playing. Bold faced lying about what your computer, tv and stereo equipment needs does not earn customer loyalty.

4) Fire store managers who don't work the floor. They actually don't know what the hell they are doing if they are never available to customers.

5) Get your price margins down to within 10% of online excluding tax. Many people (myself included) don't mind paying a small price premium to have it now. We do however object to paying drastically more. Also use that percentage as more of a guideline and not a hard number. For example if we are talking about a $3000 TV, I will wait a few days to save $300. However if the price difference is less than $100 I am more likely to go ahead and pony up.

6) Give me my reward points from my reward zone card. I didn't spend $75,000 last year to have you argue with me over points. (before any here ask, company purchases and oddly BBY is the only one in reasonably distance to aquire specific things).

7) If everyone is complaining about certain cashiers, Fire them. We the customers don't care who she is blowing but we are fed up with her crappy attitude and generally piss poor customer service.

There is just something about Best Buy that makes me want to NEVER buy ANYTHING from them.
Same thing with CC back when they were around. I would wander around WANTING to spend money and just leave feeling dirty.
Don't quite know, but everything they offer can be bought somewhere else cheaper and knowing that makes it kind of pointless.

For me it has always been the used-car-salesman vibe of the staff, that has been consistent for as long as I can remember. There have been exceptions to that, but it has been rare.

I'm sorry but Best Buy has always basically looked like any Sears electronics level to me, just a different color scheme, a shit ton of TVs, and other home goods.. ok I take that back Sears is WAY fucking better than Best Buy in every department except cell phones, as they will have dozens of refridgerators, ovens, vacuum cleaners and other useful shit.

It's "etc." I guess you're not white. :p

Yeah I have to disagree here, early 2000s here is my experience at a Best Buy to get a cordless phone set.

I notice Panasonic DECT 6.0 phones... I have no clue what the hell this technology is, I inquire to a blue shirt

Me: What's the difference between this 5.8Ghz phone and the DECT 6.0
Him: The DECT is point two better
Me: :|
Him: :)
Me: :\
Him: :)
Me: Thanks bye.

Well it is retail, it is granted to have a certain amount of tards. However at least in our district, people got trained.

I got a LED TV from HHGregg a while back. I walked in showed them the listing on Amazon for the same unit and they came within less than $100 of that price. Got to take home the TV right then.

Best Buy just looks at the Amazon listing and laughs......

i dont know about you but i want the salesmen to know the product that theyre selling.

As a person of titanic intellect as yourself that quite obviously knows everything already, I'm perplexed at the idea that you would even require any advice from a salesperson to begin with.

You do know that the Nazi's did a breeding experiment, in which they maintained a community of the most genetically "desirable" human specimens that the world has ever produced? Of coursr you do. And you also know that the supreme gene pool they maintaimed was remarkably average at best in every possible quantifiable metric.

cool story bro

Plenty of material to throw dirt at best buy without resulting to pathetic racist posts guys. Keep it classy.

Plenty of people are not Caucasian and yet speak English quite well.

This is getting very off topic, but why do you like to identify yourself as pro war? That seems a very... bleak outlook to have on life.

More on topic, I have never been a Best Buy fan, but I hope they can turn things around. I would hate to see yet another place go CompUSA or Circuit City. I buy most things online, but I would not ever want to have online be the only option.

Geek Squad. Serving the people that do real PC work, sheep for slaughter since 1992.

Their unlimited service is laughable because it'll take them at minimum 3 weeks to tell you your motherboard is dead. Cause thats all they do. You got a missing icon on your desktop? Bad motherboard yo! Whats that, you can't print? Probably the motherboard bro!

Those people are easy to convert to customers, all you have to do is prove to them they been getting fisted, and they'll flip in a heartbeat.

You guys are getting hardcore trolled. It's almost as if you're all fighting over the trollbait like dogs with a bone. It's funny how you're all trying to be so politically correct that you can't see it.

I need to go make some more popcorn.

One thing the Best Buy here in Fort Worth has is the Magnolia Audio substore. I don't know if its the economy or just the way things have changed but there are no more high end home audio stores in Fort Worth and very few in DFW at all anymore.

So if you want some Martin Logan speakers, Magnolia is the place to go....and they do charge normal MSRP on them, which is normal for an item like that.
My god.. Marvin Electronics closed after all these years??

If you were referring to me, I may very well be dealing with a troll, but I don't see how that makes me 'so politically correct' that I cannot see it.

I can attest to this. I went in to a Best Buy a few years back with the intention of buying a Logitech G15. Of course, they had it priced at full MSRP. I had a $50 gift card I was going to use. Knowing that NE and AZ had the same keyboard for $50 less, I asked a sales manager to price match. She said that they would only price match to a local competitors "in-stock" price. We bantered back and forth for a little bit and the subject of my gift card came up. Her final solution? Well, with your gift card, it brings the price down to what you'd be paying at the other places, so you're still getting the best deal. was my very next reaction.

I walked out with my gift card still in my pocket. They try harder to make excuses for their high prices then they should be for making a sale at all. Some is better than none at all. And lots of some's add up to a hell of a lot more than a shit ton of nothing, which is exactly what has been killing BB for quite some time now.

CompUSA is still going strong under the guidance of TigerDirect. I have two within about half an hour of me and what is cool is that they use online prices in-store. Considering TigerDirect is a major competitor with Newegg, as long as they have the component I need available at the store the pricing is incredibly reasonable taking into account the overhead they have to take going retail.

Maybe I don't get the badass deals on processors that a Microcenter can offer, but for pretty much everything else CompUSA is very competitive even if you want to do retail and enjoy the option of shopping in person which is always a nice thing for multiple reasons.

Best Buy should abandon their defunct business model of taking advantage of uninformed consumers and selling them "premium" accessories or services they don't need at overinflated prices.

You are lucky then. All the ones near me closed up shop. I understand their web business is still around (though basically just Tiger, which is fine by me). I just don't like the fact that it is Best Buy/Walmart or online anymore where I live.

You guys who are saying things like "they should have known this a long time ago", please remember that it is a death sentence to admit that you are wrong before the general public figures it out. You never admit that you are wrong if you have something to lose. If people already know that you fail (whether it's politics or corporations or anything really) then you can begin owning up to it. But never before.

cool story bro

Just wanted to remind you that wearing a neon sign saying I'M A BIGOT!!!!!!!!11 does not make you friends. BTW non-white births now make up the majority of newborns in America. Your days are numbered.

I don't know if the numbers add up, but if Best Buy matched Amazon prices and charged an $80 membership fee like Amazon prime, I'd probably shop there rather than Amazon.

Also stop getting trolled by cheapo.

Nice and cheap HDTVs eh? I got a 42" GT25(pany plasma) for $750 off Amazon with free white-glove shipping. Even better is that a pany plasma is the best HDTV you can get for gaming. You'd be hard-pressed to beat it's 20ms input lag let alone that you have full post-processing with that input lag. Then you go on to deep blacks, and oh, right, the THX preset which is basically a factory color calibration so you're not stuck with hiring a professional to calibrate your HDTV so it no longer looks oversaturated and you can watch films and play games as they were meant to be viewed. Did I mention it was shipped and setup in my house for free?

What's even better is that the first unit has some color banding on the right, so I had a replacement shipped and the white-glove service setup the new one and took the defective one away. This one had 3 dead pixels, so I had that one replaced as well. No hassles whatsoever. I call AZ up and explain my dismay wondering what their return policy would be like if the 3rd unit had some defect I couldn't stand as well and you know what they did? Instead of BSing me, instead of 'let me talk to my manager' they offered a $50 discount on my purchase assuming I'd keep the 3rd set. It arrived, it some some minor banding issues, but after breaking it in it'd get toned down.

The irony of this story is that I originally bought an HDTV from BB, and to make a long story short, it got returned due to intolerable input lag and my research, aided by the one BB rep that had a clue, led to pany plasmas and the GT25, but, lo and behold BB no longer stocked the GT25, they only had the ST25, which was priced HIGHER than the GT25 on AZ. lololol

So please, don't advise people to buy HDTVs from BB, especially gamers. Only one out of the several BB reps I talked to didn't try to sell me a Samsung or LG, which are arguably the worst displays to buy for gaming.

love my panny plasma
