Well I had enough of cheaters in call of duty on pc so I bought a ps3 from a friend today. I got mw3 for cheap set it all up and damn am I getting raped bad. I have a feeling of no accuracy what so ever, im missing left and right. Was wondering if anyone has went from pc to console and how lomg did it take you to adapt to the controller.

I had a ps3 about a year ago, sold it dumped the cash into a tower and havent touched a controller til today. I feel like its the first time ive ever held one lol. Its nice to say tho I havent seen any cheaters.

I'm not expecting the head shot accuracy I had on pc, its when I move to aim I'm constantly missing and then I start spraying hoping to catch a bread on them, then the recoil kicks in and I'm fighting that also. It feels jerky I should say and I dont remember that from before at all. I feel like a idiot holding the controller too. Feels very unnatural coming from the mouse.

I use to get bad pain in my left forearm when I used the keyboard and thankfully I dont get it with the controller but I cant hit the side of a damn blimp hangar to save my life lol. I had a few good games on my favorite two maps but I put that more towards knowing where they will be. I cant run n gun at all now and if someone is far away im not killing them either.

Maybe the problem is more so your choice in games than the platform itself.

"Hey guys, I always get mugged when I travel to Somalia for vacation. I'm moving to Mars."

LOL , thank you for that.

To the OP : its too bad you bought the PS3 version because with the 360 you could have used : http://xim3.com/

That would solve your issue. But honestly I played most of the free MW3 weekend on the PC and ran into cheaters maybe 2-3 times , I would say that's average for a PC shooter. I think you are being a little dramatic in stating that its a constant issue. Plus the COD franchise is probably one of the most hacked shooters next to CS franchise for the PC.

Cheaters are cheaters. Don't let them force you into buying a console to some how "avoid" them.

Its not dramatic its real and the free weekend was full of hackers

XIM3 also works on PS3 with a 15 dollar adapter

But other than that, it takes practice. Took about 2 weeks for me to get back into FPS on my xbox, not as good as I was in MW2 era, but slowly getting there..

Again not in my personal experience and the free weekend would only increase the amount of hackers as well for that time period. I played a healthy amount that weekend and I often did not run into hackers at all.

I'm sure there are some but its not as bad as other games.

I have no friends with gaming pc's, but i do have 2 co workers, 2 cousins and 10 friends with a ps3 so it wasnt a hard choice really to switch over. I really enjoy playing LBP with my daughter too and that alone was worth the switch.

It's been 3 days so far and I still feel like a dumbass holding the controller. I am just glad I dont get that horrible pain in my arm now

Get Starhawk tomorrow. You can thank me later ;)

Yeah, maybe try some different games. I have never played MW3, but that seems like jumping in the deep end of twitch based shooters. Killzone 3 multiplayer is free on the PSN, not that I can make any personal recommendations there either. I dont play many online games. It sounds like you need a lot of practice with the controller. Time...

Play through the single player to get more of a feel and a basic "training" before you go multiplayer?

Everyone is more concerned about the OP switching to a console. Rather than help him out with the actual question.

When I started playing on 360 again...I was absolutely AWFUL! lol. I kept with it and played every day for about a week. After just that first week, I began to feel a lot more comfortable with the controller. It just kept getting better the more I played. Everyone is different though...just stick with it man and in about a week or two you will find that comfort zone.

Well today was the first session I had where I went positive every game I played, had a couple 20+ kills less then 10 deaths rounds but I have a long way to go. It seems the main issue I am having is my aim, trying to control the recoil pushing the stick down and I overshoot it all the time

Movement just feels really jerky to me, not smooth at all like the mouse was and it messes me up a lot. I still cant shoot someone who is far away

It took me probably about a week before I got the hang of the controller feel after I switched over to PS3 from PC but now my K/D is just about the same now as it was before I switched. Like someone else recommended try out the single player campaign or Spec Ops to get better acquainted before jumping into MP...the key is just time and practice.

One other thing I forgot to add be sure to play around with the controller sensitivity in the options that can make a huge difference.

Play the campaign on hardest mode and you'll get a feel for multiplayer. Also get Black Ops, it has a training mode for multiplayer.

I tried the sensitivity and I'm at 6 right now, anything lower feels sluggish and higher just snaps around with no control. Before I went to PC I could play it on 10 with ease. I played spec tops for a while and it made a huge difference. I think I'm getting the hang of it finally but I got a long way to go before I get to where I use to be.

Do any of you seem to have better accuracy with a smg compared to a full sized rifle? I swear I do better with the ump 45 then a cm901 aim wise which makes no sense at all to me

It's different for everyone. It personally takes me a couple hours or so before I get back into the right groove.
(When I go without playing Reach for 4 months.)

I just recently switched to PS3 for gaming.

still getting used to gameplay. but leanring curve hasn't been as difficult as I had imagined.

The only gripe so far, is that playing games 10 ft away from the screen doesn't feel as "immersive" on the console.

IQ is something I haven't figured out either. DeusEx for example...on the PS3, it looks like it would be on "low settings" on a PC.

And as Stalker 2 seems to have been cancelled....I really don't intend to go back to the PC platform anymore.

I wont go back to pc gaming, I have said this before but I mean it this time. I cant stand cheaters, it really pisses me off and pushed me away from pc. Plus there are games I would like to play that are on the PS3 more like LBP, God of War, Uncharted

Don't give up lol I made that transition a while back for the exact same reason (cheaters). It took me quite a while to get good with the controller, but it did happen eventually.

When I started playing on PS3, It was common for me to go 1:4 K-D... now I'm ranked around 200K place in MW3 (domination).

Most of it is muscle memory, honestly. You'll have to play to get better. However, I have a few suggestions that might help you.

A.) Don't aim exclusively with the 'look' stick. Try to get it lined up as close as you can (along the vertical axis) and then side-step to fine tune the shot. It's a lot easier and quicker.

B.) Use SMG's and other guns that will keep you moving as fast as possible and ALWAYS fire from the hip (you can change to ADS once you've started firing). Assault rifles & LMG's are nice and all, but they're heavy and if you don't have good accuracy, they'll likely just get you killed more often than not. They also take longer to fire and aim in most cases.

For MW3, you can't beat the PP90-M1 with rapid fire and silencer installed. Not a great long range weapon, but mid and close quarters it's very lethal.

C.) Learn how the aim-assist works. You can use it to your advantage, especially with sniper rifles and quick scoping. I've passed on shots in the past, because I didn't think I'd connect the shot. In hindsight, I probably would of nailed at least half of them.

Thats really about it.

Oh, and if you must, just camp a bit. It might get you killed a little more, depending on how you're playing against, but it will hopefully get you more comfortable with the controls while still getting some kills.

Good luck. LMK if you want to jump on sometime. I'm usually down.

I wasn't able to upgrade my PC for a few years and I was a little worried it might not cut it, so as of this year, I haven't done much of any PC gaming.

Another thing: my kids leave me alone on the PS3 but will try to rip the mouse from my hand at the PC. They're getting better, but it is what it is.

If people are asking you to switch to PS3 to play games with them, they are not really your friends.

^_^

Probably 1-2 months for you to be any good.

I am getting better on the game that's for sure, I just dont understand how I am playing better with the ump45 then any other gun. My accuracy is pretty good with that gun, way better then when using any of the other guns

yeah, its definitly a unique challenge. I still feel like i havent fully mastered the analog sticks. I did put some time in halo 3, but reach is the first game i played in like 3 years on consoles. It does take a little bit to get use to, and its not really as bad as most pc gamers say it is. It still cant compete with mouse and keyboard, but hell have you seen some of the pros play Halo/Cod? its amazing what they pull of with the controllers.

I know the feeling...now.

I didn't have a console growing up, and, frankly until my fiancee at the time suggested it, I never thought too hard about a console. I got the Playstation 2 and liked it well enough (we loved playing Burnout Revenge together) and when I got a "thank you we did so well" coupon from my company that had a huge percent off plus my normal discount, I thought if I was going to drop the cash on a console, this would be the time.

She also suggested that I snag BioShock when it was available for $10 at Wal-Mart, so I did, and I think that was the first game I actually beat on console.

Using the controller is different, but I've grown to handle it just fine and getting better and better.
I don't know if I'm quite ready to hit the multiplayer circuit just yet, but I am pretty happy with things. I played the GT 12 Academy demo/promo thing and I am looking into Gran Tourismo 5 because its fun and doesn't handle like ass.

I'm practically incapable of enjoying a multi player shooter with analog sticks.

I can understand getting a ps3, I have one as well, but are you really 'switching' as in ditching PC gaming?

Is your PS3 on a dedicated monitor/TV? To get used to the controller again, I put a small triangle piece of 3M tape right in the center of my monitor. Small enough to see but not big enough to notice for anything else really. It helped me train my eye to where the person was going to be, even if it does have a crosshair. I guess it is a mind thing but it worked for me.

I have my PS3 for those same games but is anyone here really trying to suggest to me that there are no cheaters on console games online? Does anyone really believe that?

I have this bridge...

Of course there are cheaters on consoles, but it's far less likely.

I have a PS3 connected to my PC. The sound and video go through the PC to one of my Eyefinity monitors (can do recording) and man...it's just so hard to play PS3 games. Graphically, the majority of games are terribly inferior to the Xbox 360 because of how difficult it is to program for the PS3 and the fact that it has so much less video memory (256MB are you kidding me? My PC has 10 times that amount!).

Since it's on my PC monitor I can see side by side with PC games and even Xbox games and it's simply terrible in terms of distinctly rendering in lower resolution, with fewer details, with fewer effects, with no antlialiasing, with more fog, etc. It's not just a few games, it's a good majority of them. Even supposedly good titles that are programmed with the PS3 in mind like Uncharted just look terrible on any decent PC monitor up close. PS3 is only decent if you are sitting far away on a couch.

Yeah I am done with pc gaming all together. I will explain this tho before it gets all out of hand. I am starting to get arthritis in my hands. When I game on pc in a matter of 15 minutes my hands would cramp up so bad, I would also get really bad pain into my fore arms. I do not get this at all with the controller, I dont understand why but I simply do not get it and no pain is better then prettier graphics for me.

I had back surgery 2 years ago too and I cannot get comfortable with the mouse and keyboard with out my back flaring up. Sucks to say this but at the very ripe age of 27 I am simply falling apart already.
I have not ran into a single cheater yet either. Plus I can put the PS3 in a different room and stream my content from the pc to it which is very nice
