EVGApes

If I get my other system online before the 25th, I'll have it fold for T32 as well.

I think you guys are misleading yourselves into believing that joining T32 is having any effect upon EVGA at all. You will not have "beaten us twice" unless you put up [H]'s name in the Challenge and compete against us. Of course, we all know the answer to that one. Joining onto another team ad-hoc isn't much more than playing like it has any effect. If you want to "make a statement", then compete as yourselves, otherwise this is just hollow-talk and effect. EVGA isn't winning CC, not even close, so the real effect of your joining T32 is to hopefully keep OCN from winning. On that note, I will say three-hoorahs!!

Because we didn't compete this year, if we do compete next year we will either suck (because we won't have a 'growth' category), or we will completely rock (because the only way that a growth category would work for us would be compared to the last time we were in the Chimp Challenge, and ppd production has improved so much since then it would be unfair). Either way, the first year we compete again won't be a good year at all.

I know all about that and understand. You guys may have more fun doing as you are doing now...helping out another team. Helping out the T32 guys is just another way of participating and Adac was helpful this year in trying to get people to "think outside the box" a bit more for the contest design. I'm pleased to see that T32 is doing well (in the #1 slot)..really am. My main point was that anyone that is trying to hurt EVGA is wasting their time for this year's CC. Help out T32...that's OK/fine and if I were them, I'd welcome help from a power-team like [H] too. It's all good...:D

Thanks Skillz for the offer, but I don't want your team to miss that 900 Million goal for May.

The minute the Chimp Challenge is done, you'll have an extra hand working to make that goal into a reality.

Some of us will do it because it's not really commitment based. Like for example, after tomorrow I'm done. 2 days on it and that it. If that were our team they'd be mad at me lol, but I can spare 2 days. And thats about all I can spare, because I really dont see the point anymore in the CC but I'm not above 48 hours and a few units. And it's all in the timing, if I didnt have a new rig now I sure as hell wouldnt switch over my 450k 48 core lol. I seriously doubt many points are going to them, since most of us are pretty much over the whole CC mess

But, were not trying to "hurt" anyone. If you guys werent in the CC I wouldnt even both stress testing in the CC (unless MPC asked directly, cuz they are pretty much our sister team). I just do it because it's you guys, everybody has been in your shadow since EVGA started the Bux program and now it just makes me smile a bit to see a third team come in to play to take the title.

CC means nothing in the end, but you gotta realize something. You guys are a new team (big picture) and rose to #1 with some serious big business $$$ behind you guys in a force no other team had the money to compete with. Even tho it's all for the same cause it made a bunch of people kinda sour to see one company come in and use folding pretty much as an advertising campaign and rofl-stomp on every team in the path to #1.

I'm not here to point fingers or call names to any people themselves as its a thing EVGA did not you guys, but thats just the way it is. For nealry (or over, Iraq screwed my sense of time lol) 2 years you guys have been out of reach of any team because of bux. That's going to make people want to beat you just because were all under-dogs now lol. Now, even with bux running, someone is going to dethrone you, and a third team is going to beat you in the CC. Both of these stories are real under-dog stuff lol. We have less users than you, no multi-thousand big business backers, and these 2 teams are still going to beat you. Thats kind of inspiring actually lol

Even not going off the bux angle, look at it from the angle everyone sees. You guys were #1. Congrats again btw, yall were a hell of a force there for a bit. But with being #1 comes a price, you have a target on your back. literally every team is looking to take over you. Even in second place with everyone chasing us we still have one team to catch. Thats just part of being in first place, everyone is gunning for you. Same thing has happened to us many times over the years and will happen again when we take back first place. Myself, I can't wait to see how the other teams start to gun it for us once we get our crown back, even if it involves another 10k$+ give out from evga.

Again, I'm not trying to start a fight or acuse people of anything, I'm just saying were not trying to "hurt" your team, were just happy to see people beating you guys lol. No one said it's all peaches being number 1 lol, especially when you guys left such a wake in your overtake lol

Fold on!

Vaulter...yeah I get it and understand that the whole $10/month thing toward EVGA products has been a thorn in people's sides on other teams. I actually began Folding for EVGA purely because I've had a long history with them and their products. I didn't even know about the "bucks" when I joined them. So for me, the "bucks" were not the draw and certainly not what keeps me Folding for EVGA. I like the company and the team members.

Maybe now, people will have to say it isn't really the EVGA-bucks that has that big an effect. I know it has some, but never really felt that it was all that big. What I think we had going (way beyond $10/mo) was a whole lot of Team spirit and a hardware mass that worked very well with what PG was generating. Once that changed, the tide turned and any team that can amass lots of 2P/4P machines (with solid teamwork) has "the edge" today. That's you guys and you have every right to be proud of your come-back. I'm not totally driven by which Team is #1 (although it is a sweet title to carry :D) and your turn is coming back around.

I do hope that we can eventually put some pressure on you guys because "running away with the title" isn't all that fun without someone "nipping at the heels". That's what would have made it a whole lot more fun the past couple years. I would have enjoyed EVGA and [H] passing that baton a lot more often. Fold-on my bros and no hard feelings here...

They still can go head to head if y'all want to. Folding changes every year and no one knows what tomorrow brings.

It would be even better if it was a 3 or 4 team race, imagine how many WU's would get done then!

no doubt

fire breathing hotrods for the cure, the whole folding project is sheer genius

I'll help you guys out, then you can help us out at the end of the month. Win-win for both teams. :)

my i7 rig HAS been switched over, hope this offers some help.

Will throw in this dual E5-2680 box for a day or so; plus this E5-4607 4P box that I've been meaning to switch back to Ubuntu. Should have that done in an hour or so. :) The big boy though is staying on T33; been working with Tear too much to switch it over. :)

(Both boxes running; almost forgot to change the user name to match team/passkey.. whoops! All kinds of units are allowed, right?)

yep any flavor you can fold

Just wanted to make sure before I "wasted" any time. Have two 6900's going at 8M/TPF. (Just goes to show that two faster 8-core processors certainly keep up with four slower 6-core processors)

You'll know when the CC is over, and we start expressing our gratitude.

Our race has gone very well so far - and that was expected. Our team production jumped significantly in December and January, and has remained at that higher ppd, ever since. Other teams in the CC, did not have that 4P goodness boost, to that extent.

Another big factor was recruiting - and I.M.O.G. played a big role in that, along with the_cultie, (and several others), who have a gift for it, surely. Which brings me to the point of this post, which is to thank all our new folders who have joined us: The Benching, Rosetta and SETI teams. From The Raptor Pit, (where the former team captain stole the team name!!), Tom's Hardware (where I couldn't even find their FAH forum!), and now, clubcivic.com!

Last, but certainly not least, is the several members of [H]ardOCP, who have gifted us with a LOT of points over the course of this race.

Reading in their forum, [H]ardOCP had a goal of reaching 900 Million points in May, and they've lost that, because they helped us out. Well good grief, I want to help them reach their goal, just like they're helping us reach ours, in the CC!

The CC finishes at Noon on the 25th. That leaves us 6 1/2 days left in the month. So I'm asking for volunteers, AFTER the CC, to help me, help [H]ardOCP, to their goal. I'll be using this:

folding name: OCFthanks[H]

team number: 33

Use your current race passkey, or our public passkey for the race, if you prefer.

passkey: 3311d92fd7ee331bd66dfe6eea01708b

Whether you want to help out the whole 6 1/2 days, or just gift one work unit, I hope you'll join me in thanking our friends at [H]ardOCP.

We also have our own teams to thank, as well. The U.S.S. Poo Flinger has some other ports of call: our SETI and Rosetta teams, and our visiting folding forum members, as well.

So keep all the above in mind, but right now, I'm looking for a few good volunteers, to help me say thanks, to the [H]ardOCP crew.

just so yall know watch for OCFthanks[H] to light up here in the next few days to help yall reach 900m

Good to see the CC has triggered some camaraderie between a few teams. Good to see gryphon still folding.

The Hardware Canucks forum has been dealing with a hacker defacing the site for days. I hope it's not part of this competition. Apparently some part of the forum software or extensions has a vulnerability. They've been trying to bring it back and remove the vulnerability but then the hacker gains access again. Our team has about zero communication.

If they tried that here on [H], Steve and Kyle would've found the hacker's currentaddress...and redirected predator drones to blow it up by now.

late to the party but switched over my 590 to T32 for the next day. Not much but better than nothing.

actually they were having a hell of a time here a few months ago, I remember emailing Kyle asking what was up with the site and he answered to the effect of "up to trying not to get fucking owned every goddamn day"

current mortality status of those hackers remains unknown however

See you soon, [H]. Save us a spot in your top producer's list: OCFthanks[H] :D

Thank you, Mr. Pendantic. It's been several years since we won the Jaded Monkey.

If you happen to be #20 on [H]'s top 20 producer's list, we're still going to knock you off it. :p

Congrats T32, a well-deserved Jaded Monkey! :)

Hey Adak, I have an idea regarding CC organization, would it be fine if I posted that in OCF Folding subforum? It's suggesting kind of a substantial change... :)

I'm going to link it here at [H] too, I'm hoping it might convince [H] to re-join CC ;)
No pressure [H] friends, but CC would have been more fun with [H]. I'm hoping nothing is written in stone...

In stone? No.

In the blood of past cc participants? Yes.

Of course it would be fine! Post away!

I wouldn't post it in here, however. [H] has had a very rough go with the CC, and it's not a welcome topic here.

Thanks Adak!

Kendrak, with all due respect to [H], and I have a ton, I will post it here too.
I can only hope you and the [H]orde can read it with an open mind. It's really different from what you know about CC now ;)

It isn't so much the formula, it is the competition.

It spurred infighting.

In the recent years that we have stayed on the sidelines, we have been a happier and a more healthy team.

I'm not against talking about it per say, but every time it popps up the old timers who remeber how bad it was say no and the new members say why not, sounds fun.

In the last few years we have evolved into a think tank for folding. Away from a competition folding team. I should say that doesn't apply to us retaking our #1 spot.

It is a complicated mess, and for that reason, personaly, I would rather leave the CC in the past.

Figured I would drop by to say that I've switched some machines over to fold for you guys for some days under the OCFthanks[H] name, to help pay back the help you all gave Team 32. I normally don't fold, but rather run Rosetta and Seti on BOINC (old time folder with bad experiences with older clients and an assclown mod at the folding forum). Since the contest is now over I figured I would help you all out getting to your 900 million point month. I will say that the clients and work units seem to be much more stable than back when I ran F@H, so it's not such a headache like it used to be.

Fold on you all.
