Looking for a new Laptop

I'm in the market for a new latop. There's really no questionnaire like there is in the desktop thread so I'll do my best to provide as much information as possible.

My budget is around $1300, give or take 100. I'm looking for a laptop with a 15.6" screen (round abouts), Ivy Bridge CPU, decent enough graphics, at least 750GB worth of HDD with room to add a SSD, and not a whole lot of extra fluff. This will be used for gaming only.

So far, I've looked at Asus's new G55 which seems to be good, if a little limited in quantity, but I also just found the Sager NP9130, which will give me the Ivy Bridge, a GTX 670M, room for a SSD, and a carrying bag for $1250. That price seems insane to me, since the Asus is going from anywhere between 1350-1450 depending where you buy it.

Are there other laptops around this price range that I may be better off looking into that I may not know of?

for your need Sager is a going to be one of your best bets

I would think it would be very hard to find anything more powerful than the 670M in a 15" platform. Then again, i don't follow gaming laptops too closely.

Maybe head on over to Notebookreview and fill out the form.

You can get a 675M or 7970M in Sager's 15". They can basically take all the same components as their 17" model, just with a smaller screen. Big n' heavy, but if you want high end Sager does a good job.

In terms of getting one you can also order them from a place like XoticPC who will customize them, or a place like Mythlogic that buys the barebones Clevo laptop Sager uses and builds their own. Same deal all the way around more or less, just potentially more customization. I have my order for a NP9170 in with XoticPC for the very reason that I wanted some customizations (like no Sager logo, an upgraded screen, and so on).

In terms of their 15" models the NP9130 caps out at a 670M however for that you get a lighter laptop and a lighter powersupply. The NP9150 and NP9170 are not only beefy themselves, but sport a 220 watt PSU which is massive.

Gaming only -- yeah, from what I've heard, you want a Sager. Haven't owned one myself, but I'm under the impression that in terms of price and quality they're one of the best for gaming laptops. Just don't expect it to be as cool/quiet/lightweight as something like a Thinkpad.

Well quiet really isn't too much of an issue (99% of the time I use my laptop is for gaming on the go with a headset anyway so I can't really hear it). I would expect it to be relatively cool since it's not a super thin case or anything. I have a decent cooling pad anyway which I will be using 100% of the time the laptop is on, just as I do for the one I bought in 2009. This laptop is for an upcoming overseas deployment. I've been there before and I am aware how crucial it is to bring something to entertain yourself, and with the way my Steam library is looking, I'll have plenty to occupy myself.

I am glad I found this Sager place. They offer a $200 option to add in an SSD for the OS, but I can buy a 60GB SSD for like $75 and put it in myself, but my concern with that is for that specific model if it'll come with room for me to put it in myself. I mean obviously if they could do it, I probably could too, but still it doesn't hurt to be sure.

Anyone know if Sagers come with excess amounts of bloatware? I really do hate bloatware :(

The opposite, they come with nothing but what is needed to operate the computer. One of the reasons they are popular with high end gamer types. They are very much a "We sell you a system, you do whatever you want after that." They also don't mind if you upgrade it, that is allowed and it is designed for it (including the GPU though they are hard to find).
