I bought a use Evga GTX 570 DS off my friend for the wifes pc, only problem is on BF3 it get like 30-40fps on low. So I fired up afterburner and saw it was only using 15% of the gpu. So I tried 3 drivers 295.73. 296.10 and 301.24beta all have the same issue. After some more playing around I found out that in Single player it has no problem play Ultra at 50-60fps and 90-100% usage ! Then I don't why it doesn't do the same in multiplayer.

I thought it might be my PSU, so I pulled it out and plugged my AX850 in and same problem. Anyone know a fix for this ? She would really like to play the game the way a 570 should be able to.

Her PC specs:
AMD Athlon x3 445 unlocked to Phenom X4 @ 3.6ghz
8gb 1333mhz ddr3
Asus n68c-s ucc mb
1tb WD green 64mb
Evga GTX 570 DS
Ultra x4 600watt PSU
Dell ultra sharp 1080p monitor

Note this 570 will run 100% usage on Skyrim and Diablo 3 and runs them flawlessly

what is your frame rate and GPU usage with medium/high settings. obviously at the low settings you are cpu bottlenecking with that processor. the more you increase settings the less of a cpu bottleneck there will be. BF3 is really the only game you will see have this issue with that processor because of the cpu physics acceleration.

You are CPU bottlenecked. BF3 is fairly taxing on the CPU as it is, and the more you lower the graphics settings, the more load is placed on the CPU to deliver data to the graphic's card. Your CPU also isn't the best, but the unlocked 4th core and overclock will help tremendously.

The proof of this is your FPS will probably remain about the same as you continue to increase the details.

For that setup, and assuming that GTX 570 has 1248MB of VRAM, you should run the following settings in BF3:
-All settings except textures on Ultra. Textures set to high. If there is still some freezes and skips occasionally, lower everything to high. You might try changing HBAO to SSAO.
-Deferred AA off (MSAA)
-Post AA set to high (FXAA)
With these settings you should be able to get the GPU usage to a reasonable level. Ultra textures and Deferred AA use up the most VRAM of any other setting. With the huge 64 player maps, VRAM usage is well known to skyrocket near 2GB for just one 1080p monitor if you use these settings at their max level.

POS amd can't keep up
Terrible troll.
AMD processors can keep up with this game as long as they are quad core's or better running over 3ghz. The Thubans and FX chips seem to do very well.

I don't think a Phenom II X4 @ 3.6 is going to bottleneck THAT hard (15% gpu). There have been a few threads in the official nv forum about people encountering this issue (ultra low gpu utilization, poor frame rates in select titles).

If you had a different stock 570 card to test with ... I believe one person cured it by ditching their "oc" card.

Does golden driver 275.33 work fine? Also, power down and unplug PC for 3 minutes.

Would I be better off going to microcenter and buying a newer Phenom ? Which on should i get ? Both are $99

X4 965

or

X6 1045T

I would try some of the things people posted above with the drivers first before you spend money, but if you do upgrade the X6 will be the best choice for BF3, even if you don't overclock it.

It's definitely not the CPU bottlenecking, something is borked. I had better BF3 performance than that on a 560Ti on my Q6700 @ 3.2GHz which is probably less powerful than that AMD (or roughly equivalent), used to run all High settings no AA on it and 60fps+.

really now, at what resolution 800x600? I couldn't run 60+ fps average on an i5 2500k overclocked and a 570.

i also vote for cpu bottleneck. i've read enough 'my bf3 performance is shit' threads to get a good idea.

Turn off Vsync.

My 3 480gtx's all run between 95-100% with Vsync off at 1920x1080. I usually hover around 90-115fps.

That will make your card work.

Turn off Vsync.

I don't run Vsync, but after little more testing I'm gonna agree with the cpu bottleneck. When in game the cpu is running at 90-95% usage =(

So I guess I'll have to pick up that X6

Except he's right. May have been a trollish way to reply, but he's not wrong. I have a X3 455 with a mild OC (not unlocked) which is admittedly weaker than the OP's CPU but so is the 5770 its paired with and the GPU rarely sees more than 70% utilization while all three processor cores are pegged.

With that said, it really should be able to utilize more than 15%

an return that 570 and buy a 670..that will fix ur problems..

Lol I wish man, I got the 570 for $160 so I can't beat that. After I built my pc don't really have the money to buy a 670. Also my wife doesn't play enough to justify a $400 gpu =P
