Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

maybe unintentionally off a limited experience with the game. I'm barely into act 2 and i feel rather the same. Lots of mindless point and clicking. As we've already discussed though, hopefully once the difficulty ramps up some actual thinking / builds / strategy will be forced to come into play.

I think that is it exactly. I got no sense of "Holy shit! Chatters just fed me my asshole!". Steamrolling an area with no chance of death can get a bit boring.

Don't mean to jump on you with everyone else, but have you ever played a Diablo game before?

Nope, my first one and definitely not worth $65.00. I finished Act 1 and am in the beginning of Act 2.

The lack of depth in this game makes the production value of BF3 seem like Avatar compared to Steam Boat WIlly and I'm not trolling I'm being serious.

lol he just means that everything you do in normal is going to be quickly replaced when you get to the next difficulty. Gold drops, item quality, etc will skyrocket so he was laughing at me while i'm farming gold in normal. Whatever though, i like enjoying my time in a game, not rushing through.

I've decided that Demon Hunter is going to be my solo playthrough so i can get all the story and have to think about fights instead of zerg.

naw man im with you I bought it to enjoy all the aspects not just clearing inferno

demon hunter is my least fav. class I think next I might go with WD or Barb... my friend has a DH though and he is absolutely in love

Thanks for the speedy response, that's good to know. I'll just install into my Steam drive then, screw Origin and its install in C drive required.

NP. You can actually change where Origin installs games in the settings as well.

It's what the game has always been about. I'd at least stick it out to Act4 normal or Nightmare; the game changes quite a bit.

Hmm, we'll see :) Still 4 others to try if i don't end up liking the DH.

One thing i don't like about the new battletag setup is that you can't really hide from people by logging off a character =P

I just want to be like, "Nah man go ahead--gotta work late tonight" as i log into my DH to play single player ><

If you go for a pure Dex build, DH is ridiculously strong. I'm nearly 1-shotting mobs in Nightmare. The downside is you also get 1-shotted by almost everything but hey that's what Vault is for :)

I used SteamMover to move my BF3 install off of C onto my games SSD... It works fine. I think there is even an option in Origin to move the default install location off of C. As far as D3 goes, it's on my SSD now, but I may move it off as I also haven't noticed any real reason to keep it there.

hahaha make those games invite only my man! I feel you on this.. never seen such a response for a video game Ive got 15 friends on at all time and those are just real life friends... insanity. even the non-nerdies are getting down on some D3

Also, is there any "real" battle.net anymore in Diablo, outside of the chatbox while you're in game? Seems weird to me, is there no ability to do, "mephrun0008" join! anymore?

I didnt pick it up since none of my friends are interested in it; however im itching to play it but is it worthwhile to just play solo or would anyone on here mind adding a casual player to their group? I played both D1 and D2 solo and would rather play with friends, either in hc or normal but all my rl friends are in WoW or SW:ToR.

Ill say, the game is definitely not what I expected it to be. Path of Exile feels more like Diablo than D3 does. There are definitely some things done that I would have done differently. I am not sure why they went so "arcade" on it.

This of course is not to suggest its not going to be fun. :p

It feels nothing like D1 or D2 but, its still fun I think. Just like D2, the more people in the game, the harder the monsters are but the more gold and magic items you find. Its always best to play in a full game in all Diablos due to the loot factor.

you can play with me anytime dude.

Any experienced former D2 players out there in the 15-20ish range want to team up? I think I am like 21 right now and nearing the end of normal. I need some good teammates. I am a wizard, so im looking for a team with a tank(barb or monk) and whatever else.

I just wish it were 8 player like D2...

It's hard to have only 4 people when everyone is coming out the wood works and picking up the big D again. Old friends always have 1-2 new friends they want to bring along and there just isn't room.

Loving the game so far. Nostalgia on!

Hm...I install Origin on a different drive yet when I download/install BF3 it's still on my C drive. Then I had issue updating the patch and had to re-download. It's ok though as it's probably worth it to have BF3 on my SSD.

Anyway I'm also down for some casual group play since I barely know any of my friends playing.
Just found this online and thought it's interesting lol (might contain spoiler)

Not to go too far OT, but you have to go to the settings and change it manually, no matter what drive you install it on. Not the smartest way for it to setup, but there you go.

I installed the game to my SSD well cuz it's D3 and it deserves that glory ;)

Regarding the 4 player limit. I was once pissed about that and I thought that the blizzard response was pretty shitty but yesterday in A4 things were going crazy with my 3 friends. It got to the point that I found it hard to tell what the hell was happening. I believe this was exactly what a dev said that the reason was for limiting the game to 4 players. I still am a little bummed but now I can sort of see where Blizzard is coming from.

yeah modern spell effects = clusterfuck

anyone else notice that when you hover over an item on the ground your frames drop to 30?

only happens with V-sync on...

Just got off, played pretty much nonstop through Act 1. It's about three times as long as the beta was. Didn't know that.

It took me almost 3.5 hours to finish Act 1 on normal. Much longer than it would take me to finish Act 1 in D2 with the same play style. Game gets infinitely beta immediately after the beta content. Very satisfied with the length and gameplay in general so far.

I'm going to give it a rest until the weekend, I think. Hopefully they will have issues worked out by then.

thats crazy man. I dont think you are the only one. there has been mentioning of the achievements not being properly awarded and connectivity issues

No, I'm not the only one, my friend who I was planning on co-oping through the whole game with has the same issue, and he's 3 states away so it's not like it's a local thing. Plus there's numerous threads & posts on the latency problems on the official forums.

I'm sorry dude that blows. I hope the kink it out.

I just got approved for a refund from Amazon. Gotta love their customer service :)

First time I have ever sought a refund for a software product in 15 years of buying games, but I just don't have the patience for paid beta testing anymore.
