I think they changed the file that is linked from your account page now that the game is live. There were (now only google cached) instructions on battle net to download the "Diablo-III-8370-enUS-Installer-downloader.exe", which is what is linked in the OP. This .exe downloads the 8gb of content into a folder of your choice. HOWEVER, the file that is on the account page NOW is "Diablo-III-Setup-enUS.exe". The setup.exe is about 40mb and when you run it, it goes straight to downloading and installing.

In any case, I got what I needed, so thanks again.
 
So is Witch Doctor any good? I played Monk a bit in the Open Beta, and thats about all I've done so far. Trying to decide between WD and Monk.
 
yep difficulty levels are progressive. ie you need gear from the first level of difficulty to start 2nd.
 
Love getting screwed by Blizzard with the stupid mobile authenticator. Still no response from the support team to remove it. So I still can't plat Diablo 3. Just lovely.

I had mine removed in about a day. They actually didn't email me about it. I just tried to log in out of curiousity. Maybe they're getting hammered atm o_o
 
So I order another CE from newegg at 4am this morning when the link was posted here, just got a tracking number.

Yea this happened to me too. Don't delete your mobile app :( I called them and got it taken care of, this was before the Diablo 3 launch so I bet they're swamped now. But call them if you have time. I went back to using the authenticator rather then the mobile one.
 
Been playing since 2am central its now almost 10am.....time to sleep O_O so drunky :)

Uhh hmmm what could you possibly do to get around this hmmm. Create a new account problem solved, thats what I did. I sent a request to bliz about a month ago, to get the mobile authenticator reomved on my old account but they didnt get back to me, so I wouldnt count on them to remove it any time soon.

Had to DL the game 3 times because I kept getting errors. Hopefully playing tonight.

Yeah I think I may create another account. The only other Blizzard game game attached to my current account is WC3 and TFT.

If you have a starter key, can you play with people in the full game? I just found out that you can keep your characters if you buy the game, which makes me think I need to start begging for one...
 
Finished Act 1 with a monk, then had to go to work. I'm hooked.

Really glad I avoided spoilers.
 
i dont think the servers will crash. as there the workload (not number of players) is much lower than say the wotlk launch.
 
dude... so tired. stayed up till 4AM the servers were so flooded so we didn't get in till about 1AM. Beat the first act and logged... amazing though. the beta truly does not do it justice.. I am also using the FXAA Injector and that has made the game look 500% better. So much fun with friends.
 
Can you guys tell me the actual size of the download? Downloaded the copy through the Blizzard and says some files are missing....
 
Well.. I will say this for my first 20 mins into the game... it's clicky clicky mindless(ish) fun like the old diablos were.. spanning 3 displays works fine and performance is good on my 470s.. using windowed full screen mode I have to adjust my brightness / gama levels in windows though, but it looks pretty nice.

I will play more tonight.

The initial installer is small like 6 megs then it runs the installer. You have enough room?
 
I'm loving it so far. For some reason it's really addicting.

I can't really describe it but everything just feels right, defeating hordes of enemies is just very satisfying and everything feels smooth.


I also love that there are some random mobs thrown in as well with special abilities. These can really be tough to fight at first. Just when I think I can take on everything in a specific level, these mobs will then beat me in seconds.

I downloaded the installer late Sunday night, so not sure if they updated the download client at any point before that/after that, but I recall only having to install the original 7.6GB for the installer, and then I installed the game. Was able to play right after that. A buddy of mine reported having to download an additional 8GB after installing the game, and having to go through the traditional WoW-style download of red bar, yellow bar, green bar, ready to play.

Didn't believe me when I said I didn't have any of that, hah.
 
I downloaded it a few days ago, took all night, and the file was over 7gigs but not more than 8. Ran the setup last night took less than 30 mins to finish setting up. Logged in this morning and created some toons no issues. Now stuck at work wishing I had taken the day off.

Only if you're running a 6+ year old system I suppose. Anything a few years old should handle this well, and anything modern should decimate it.

As a point of interest performance wise, I ran the game with my 7970M enabled and it was ridiculously smooth at max settings (1920x1080), then ran it with the Ivy Bridge onboard graphics (Intel 4000) and had to drop down a few settings at max res, and it still ran like butter. The Ivy Bridge graphics are actually damn good though, compared to anything older. If anyone cares/is planning to use the onboard solution with an Ivy Bridge processor (can't imagine who, but you never know).

items / story / graphics ( although I'm using the fxaa injector I think thats part of it) / it seems the latest build they added a lot more monsters although everything melts till you get passed the beta portion of retail.


Honestly the boss fights are insanely entertaining although I felt they were trivial in comparison to some elites and champions but it is normal Act 1..

hahahha yeah.. we have run into a couple that really just smashed on us. The monster that charges plus a waller affix. . . insane hahahha
