Random freezes after SSD install, coincidence or?

Need some help here.

specs in sig (currently running stock speeds)

I recently installed a new SSD. I reformatted and installed a fresh copy of win7 on it with ahci enabled through bios.

I started OC'ing again (i was running stock speed for a while, but i used to run at 3.0 ghz stable when i was using regular hdds). It was running stable for about a week, but recently I started noticing random freezes. It's not even blue screening, it would just freeze still on whatever screen i am on. sometimes I would walk away from my computer and come back and find it frozen - or I could be using it and it would just freeze. I resetted my mobo settings so that it's running at stock speeds again, however I am still seeing the freezing issue so I don't think it was the OC that was causing the freezing. The only new thing I put into my computer is the SSD... I've tried taking out 2 sticks of ram to see if it was a memory problem, but it still froze. I'm now trying the other 2 memory channels.

Also, sometimes I would freeze before getting into windows. During the AHCI phase, when it says detecting hard drives or whatever, sometimes it would freeze during that phase before listing all my hard drives.

any suggestions or anything else I should try? is my SSD no good?!

thx

Couple of things you can try:

1). Run MemTest to validate each stick individually.

2). Update to the latest BIOS/Drivers/FW for the MB, controller and SSD.

3). Try a different port on the controller or a different controller if available.

I rarely hear anything bad about the M4, so try the steps above and go from there.

Thanks, I will try MemTest first - didn't think of that. So far i've been running much longer than I have been this morning using the other 2 mem channels.

should I put in all 4 sticks and run memtest, or do i need only have 1 stick installed to test them individually?

if they pass individually but fail all together, then you probably need to raise your vdimm.
