Can anyone tell me how a 670 would compare to Crossfire 6970s?
Any confirmation on the Gigabyte OC ones accepting gtx 680 waterblocks?

Asus DirectCU Top?
Gigabyte Windforce 3x?
Or possibly waiting for the potential MSI TF3 or TF4 version? So many choices
Does the gigabyte one offer voltage unlock? I know the Asus one does
The gigabyte cards with the windforce cooling are.. Well FLAT OUT UGLY. They look cheap & the PCB is the ugliest color blue I have ever seen in compnents. This doesnt matter to most people, but I put enough money into my system I take pride in the way it looks as well as performs.
I went with the EVGA base model. Simply put I liked the asthetics, the reviews still have it very quiet & cool. I Also dont normally overclock my video cards and the 670 stock did GREAT in every one of my normally played games that I could find tested (biggest being Starcraft 2 & Dirt 3). Playing at a single 2560x1440 it needs to be a pretty beefy card, but not as much as some so I can deal with slightly less performance for a little cooler & quieter compared to the SC model.
Had EVGA had a Twin fan design I would have probably gotten it. Also MSI's TF cards are also great with the black BCB's & the metal fan shrouds.
Interesting, because I think the Gigabyte card looks fantastic. To each their own... my case is sealed anyway, so I'd rather have better thermals & noise levels.
[H]'s numbers... 57.5 fps (670) vs 59.4 (680)... with settings up? Most monitors top out at 60 frames, and besides, anyone who plays BF3 with settings up, in multi-player at least, fails to understand how eye candy in that game degrades competitiveness.
And your temp figures are just dead wrong. The 670 OC actually runs cooler.
I want BF3 to look as good as possible at all times. You would want it to be at 60+ FPS at all times for smoothness. With a 680 I can do that and still be competitive because it can keep the FPS at 60+ on Ultra. I guess I'm spoiled.
BTW, below are [H]ard|OCP's temperature findings on their 670 that you called me "dead wrong" on. My 680 runs at 60C. It has never been even close to 85C. I do not have a screenshot. You'll just have to trust me.

Now there are 3 gigabytes in stock at Amazon. Wonder if people are canceling their orders, Amazon is getting more in stock, or what is going on. Maybe Nvidia has a lot better supply on the 670's than they did the 680 and 690.

lol....just tack on a EVGA GTX670 backplate for $20 if you really don't want to see the blue. Can't see it otherwise. I have no qualms with my GB card.
Whatever numbers you choose to believe, the temps on either card aren't anything to get wrapped around.
As far as Ultra settings on BF3, no matter what card(s) you're running, you're getting needlessly fragged at those settings. Turn off that stuff and you'll see what I mean... e.g. someone behind smoke that kills you - you can't see them but they can see you. Try it out.
Looks like it comes down to the following GTX 670....looks like these are the go to cards for performance...both noise & temp
1. Asus DCU2 Top
2. Gigabyte Windforce OC
so which one is better? lol
I'm not wrapped around anything, just pointing it out for consideration. Twenty degrees difference is pretty significant to me. It may not be to you or some others.
Just got my 670, Gigabyte. Card is a beast... AND SILENT!! It hasn't breached 60c after 15 minutes of Furmark.. Amazing!!
BF3 looks great @60FPS 4xMSAA and adaptive VSYNC.
Sorry for the noob question, but what do you guys recommend in terms of managing the card? The drivers do not contain any overlocking or power configurations..
Where'd you hear that? I didn't think any of the cards have unlocked voltages.
Interesting that your card only goes to 111% power. Nice clocks anyway though.

It'a not 20 degrees difference, based on anyone's numbers. lol
Check some of the recent posts... people are getting 65 at load.
You're starting to give me the impression you have buyer's remorse on your 680... keep trying to convince yourself.
I just showed you [H]ard|OCP's numbers. Are you saying they lied?
Honestly I don't care what impression you have. People who are trying to justify settling for a 670 may just as easily be lowering their temperature reports at load.
I am tired of arguing with you, so the last word is yours.
One more thing that is strange.. Looks like BF3, with vsync disabled and everything maxed, including 4xMSAA, GPU usage is only 60-65%. Is that normal?
