I was just wondering about quad SLI. I've got two MSI GTX 680's but don't have room for 4 cards in my MB. Is it possible to SLI a GTX 690 with my two 680's ?

Thanks

I've heard that no that is not possible. Why not get a board that supports quad SLI for 4x 680? You would have better luck finding 4 680s than a 690 IMO.

He'll also need a new case, since 4 680s requires 8 expansion slots, and the Antec 902 only has 7.

It's not possible, no. 3way card sli requires six sli bridge connections, where as the 690 only has one per card.

Just curios what are you doing or playing that would need 4x680s? I see you play in a larger resolution than 1080p... but does it take that much power to run games on?

I have 3 dell 3007 so when I play with them its running at 4800x2560 or 7680x1600, well if you unfamiliar with 2560x1600 its has roughly 52% more pixels then 1080p. So running three 2560x1600 monitors takes a ton of power.

If you interested this is my benchmark on Heaven between 1080p and 1600p with my 680's

You will probably be very VRAM limited anyway beyond 3 way SLI with 2GB 680's. I would wait for a pair of 8GB 690's if you absolutely want the fastest speed possible.

There won't be any 8gb 690's. But there will be 4gb 680's.
