I'm looking to do a future eyefinity build at some point this year, and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a desk with huge depth to it. I like to have room to write/read in front of my desk , with the keyboard and displays behind the read/write space.

Browsing through the web, the thing that I've found most people recommend is to DIY and use a wood door slab, but I neither have the tools or experience to do that.

Price range would have to be < $200.

I would like it to be simple just need the space to hold 3 monitors (1 possibly being 30 inch) and not be flimsy.

Other options is some sorta stand/mount to hold 3 monitors (1 possibly being 30 inch). It cannot be a wall mount (don't want to put holes in the wall). So some sorta stand of the floor if someone has recommendation for that? Or a stand that uses very minimal desk space, if its a desk mount.

So if anyone has recommendation for either type solution , would appreciate it.

Check out desks on craiglists in your area.

the ikea galant series desks are pretty nice they have a metal frame underneath which provides great support and they have adjustable legs to fit most office chairs.

I bought a corner one on craigs for $100 which included a chair , and couple addons for the desk which would have costed almost $300 new.

Cool thx. I've been looking at it on the "show your lcd display" thread, and I think I saw a few photos of it. One of the possibilities I'll have to consider.

You know if there are any floor stands that you can adjust and raise that will hold 3 monitors? Not a stand that will sit on the desk and take away from the space.

Also consider desk-mountable LCD stands/arms. They would free up desk space, and offer a variety of configurations, such as 3 monitors on one arm, or doing three individual arms. It all depends on how you want them positioned.

Ikea sells pre-fab countertops that come in a lot of nice looking options and I think they have a 78" size which would be ideal for 3 huge screens.

Buy the countertop, then buy 2 or 3 things to set it on to support it - they have a bunch of stuff in the store. That would be minimal assembly and cost and would look pretty decent too.

Thanks guys, I'll have to run by the Ikea store sometime and have a browse.:)
Be sure to take a drawing of your room, with window/door placements, and the various measured dimensions of your room. If, while at Ikea, you really start contemplating what to buy and what options to get, you'll be glad you had the drawing.

When I re-did my bedroom, I ended up buying this desk from Staples on sale for about $80. The shelf on the right seems big enough to handle 3 screens and leave you plenty of writing room to the side. The only part that might not work for you is the keyboard tray location, should you choose to use it (I didnt.)

+1 on the Galant.

I was in the same situation and ended up getting a Galant last week, couldn't be happier.
Check it out if the have an Ikea nearby, the amount of combinations you can make is mind-boggling.

Assuming the link works, here's a pic of what I got right after I assembled it:

That Z-line desk is what I have currently. I've had it for the past 8 years lol. But, with moving around quite a bit over the years, I've lost that shelf that sits on top of the desk at some point.
I'm not sure how well it would support 100 lbs of monitor weight (if I decide to get 3 x 30").

That Galant looks like the thing I might need MysticD.:)
