Okay so i have gotten answers on this before but never were fully clear. I bought and downloaded a stand-up performance which is MP4 format. I just tried to burn it onto a DVD by opening ImgBurn, i then chose "Create Image File from File/Folder" and created a ISO of the video, i then chose "Write Image file to Disc" and it burned it onto the DVD for me. Yet when i put it in DVD players and my Xbox, it wont play. When i put it into my PC and i go into My Computer, it shows that its in my D: drive (DVD drive) and when i double click on it, it doesnt load up to play, it just opens to show the MP4.

What am i doing wrong? I have lots of experience using DVD Shrink to rip DVD's to ISO and put them on my HDD's and things like that. But i can never understand/be told the steps to always use to get the video file into the right format and then to burn it onto a disc.

Just to be doubly clear, my objective is to: Be able to take the MP4 video and do what is needed to it so i can have the video burned onto a disc so DVD players and my xbox (etc) will instantly load up the disc and play it like i had gotten the disc out of its case from Bestbuy.

I think the 360 will play mp4 native, so burn a data disk.

or, DVDFlick works really well.

Something like Freemake http://www.freemake.com/downloads/
will do the trick for you. copying video files onto a DVD isn't sufficient. You need to convert it to the DVD format.
Freemake will do that easily enough, and can handle just about any kind of video

Thanks! I downloaded it and am creating a DVD now. Hopefully it all goes well, if it does, it will be my fav new program cause wow is it simple and even looks good.

UPDATE: Well it finished converting and burning, and it worked! Well, 90% worked haha. It worked in my xbox (yay) and it worked in our living room DVD player (newer, higher end) compared to the Rec-Room DVD player that is a older and is kinda crap..it said disc cannot play. Thank you very much.

Bad news, played the DVD fully today and half way through it, the audio is fine but it goes at like..one frame per minute. Damn. Definitely the DVD too, i tried the disc im my PC and same thing. Didnt burn the video right or something. Lame.

For the best compatibility with the widest range of drives the simple answer is the classic one:
Burn Slow. 2x, 4x, something like that.
