Would like some suggestions plz. All i see is this spam of programs when i look it up. Anyone have any suggestions? I have the newest ipad and would like to convert some 720p or 1080p movies to the ipad. Much appreciated =)

Get CineX. You won't have to convert anything, which will save you time. It will play your avis just perfectly - That's the way I'm doing it. You just install CineX, then go to your ipad in iTunes, choose "applications", then scroll down to see which apps can eschange data with computer, click CineX, choose movies you want to add, then it just copies the movies to your tablet, and then you can watch them via CineX.

Looks like the current version of cinex is broken based on reviews.
I use handbrake to convert files to put on the ipad and StreamToMe for streaming, mkv, xvid and DVD folders to my iPad from my pc.

Strange, I been using it since monday, copied few avi movies, and they play properly, without any problems.

Also AVPlayer HD is good, as it plays most of the movie formats, same way CineX works.

Looks like Ocean's suggestion worked out great for me!. Thanks!!!!! takes like around 20 minutes to encode a 2gb 720p movie to ipad.

Airvideo app and server lets you stream movies to your ipad via the convert on the fly option and it also has convert and upload to your ipad via itunes option, works on every filetype that i have used from mkv to avi, i cant fault this app at all.

Magic app that is.

I'm pretty sure Handbrake doesn't mux/transcode, it actually reencodes the entire video. So you're reencoding something that's already lost quality compared to the source material anyway.

I'd say give iFlicks from the Mac App Store a shot. The entry price is worth it from what I hear.

The sheer number of possible options makes knowing the best solution near impossible. Pick one and go. :)

I have been using something called freemake video converter, might not be the best, but its free and ridiculously easy.
