Apple VP Sells 95% Of His Company Shares

I smoke. I drink about a sixer or two a week. I'm a full time college student. I work two jobs. I receive a very small food stamp allowance. I have three children. My wife works. I pay a mortgage. It's a ten year mortgage because I got it when I made more money. I haven't bought tobacco in almost two years because I stock piled. If I didn't get food stamps because of drinking beer I'd not drink any beer because the $12 a week or less doesn't compare to the money I get from food stamps. I don't go to the movies or have netflix or anything like that. When I'm not at school, or working I'm with my family. I don't think I need to take classes on budgeting but I would if everyone else had to. I live with next to nothing. Honestly my ISP bill is my greatest expense since we commute by bicycle, grow/pickle as much food as we can, don't really heat the house and it's super insulated and just basically just live simply because we think it's the right thing to do and it makes us happier people.

Congratulations on your new child. Children are one of the greatest blessings I've ever had and I wish the same for you. Also congratulations on having a wife who you can work with. Children are a great joy but having a wife you work well with is, in my opinion, one of the greatest miracles the world has ever produced. Take the lessons you are learning in frugality and never forget them, even if you make a fortune in the future.

you planned ahead and likely roll to save cash.. I live in low end apartments so I look all around and I'd bet 90% of the people here are on food stamps. It makes me sick watching people step outside every 20 minutes all over the place smoking and I never see them going to work and they have their kids running all over unattended.

I live in michigan so the weather hasn't been nice enough to ride my bike the 8.5miles each way to school yet but I'm ready to do it as soon as the weather lines up. Obviously I'd rather drive but to save the cash I need to bike!

My wife is absolutely the best. We made the choice where I could either make basically what childcare will cost working a shitty job with no degree OR living poor and cheaply for a while. I've been taking CLEP tests and doing all I can to speed things up. I'm about to start my summer semester with 20 credits on the books. I'm probably dropping to 17 so I can work on testing out of classes. I have to go take IC3 exams on friday. Hopefully I've read through enough. It sounds like they ask obscure stuff at times.

Basically my previous rant was watching 40 kids play on a playground I can see with only 2 parents actually with their kids (my wife being 1).

I drink every chance I get but its like monthly these days instead of weekly like I used to. I reward myself when I turn in pop cans LOL I'm down to 1 dew a day.

The guy must know something is up. I mean apple is going to peak out somewhere and this might be it. There will always be dedicated fan base for apple but the stock just can't keep climbing. Eventually it will settle and come down to earth. Apple is already loosing smartphone share but I am sure they will still have a big base and they will still millions of iphones and ipads but samsung has given them a major trouble in smartphone market and it will continue.

He better hope to high hell that nothing happens to Apple in the mext 6 months or he will get nailed for insider trading.

Would you want to give the government another $3M if you pulled your stocks out tomorrow instead of today? As much as I think it a load of crap that this income isn't treated as standard income taxed at the (clearly) 35% bracket, you can't blame the guy for trying to buy another house with that $3M.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go find my pitchfork. I know I have it around here somewhere for the day there is an Occupy Fruit protest.

selling the stock isnt big news, what i'd like to see reported is how much taxes he pays on $38 million

Capital gains tax = 15%. He's going to pay $5.7M in taxes when he should be paying $13.3M in taxes. Oh well, just another example of where the rules don't apply to the rich guys.

Didn't it say he already paid for the taxes?

The shares were the remains of a 120,000-share retention bonus that was granted in 2008, vested last month and reduced by 55,849 shares on March 24 to pay taxes.

I believe anybody smoking cigarettes should be banned from ANY public benefits and if they're buying beer/booze on the same receipt as food stamps CUT OFFF these places like papa murphy's that accept food stamps is a shame.

My wifes off work right now with our newborn and I'm a full time college student. Budgeting and not wasting money is something every paycheck to paycheck person needs to really work on.

To get on food stamps everybody should have to take classes on budgeting and money management. It would be for their own good. (we're on food stamps + pell grant is paying for my school)

So buying an uncooked pizza and a six pack with groceries is evil?

You know what pisses me off... Being behind someone buying all name brand expensive food with tons of soda, snacks and candy and seeing it ring up to $300+ and them whipping out a food stamp card. The papa murphys thing dont bug me what bugs me is knowing that $300 cart full of food should have been $150. At least that $10 pizza will feed the kids, oreos, pepsi and candy dont.

I think the food stamp program is a decent idea and FAR better than welfare checks, at least it forces them to buy food but it should be off brand only and no more candy and soda for fucks sake.

Huh, 46%? That's the highest tax bracket and then some. What?

Maybe someone here could clarify? Losing almost half to taxes seems excessive. If this was the case, then what's the point of investing in stocks when you need to double it just to cover the taxes when you pull out.

my my shares valued up to $30+ Million... I'd be cashing in my chips too. Will be interesting though... analysts expect apple stock to tap $1,000 per share by the end of the year.

Or

He saw the next iPhone and was like... "Deuces..."

Capital gains taxes apply to everyone.

Yes, but how many of us actually own enough stock that this tax discount apply means something? Not many. Who lobbied for that bill?

But your post says that the rules don't apply to rich people. What rules are they breaking by paying the 15% capital gains tax?

Also, as far as I know, there's no minimum. You just have to hold the stock for at least a year. Anyone can buy a single share and sell it a year later - paying 15% capital gains tax on the portion gained.

You know what I'd do if I had $30 million dollars? Two chicks at the same time.

Seriously though, that money would go straight to the Bahamas and I would so be outta here.

On CME Squak this morning reports of rumors of an upcoming AAPL stock split were reported.

The scumbags of the country abuse the food stamps as well. They purchase groceries, then go door to door in their neighborhood (had one come to my door once), or hang out in the parking lot of the store and offer what they bought for 1/2 the sticker price.

Then with their cash they can go buy....whatever they buy.

uh, you guys parroting the capital gains tax = 15% - you know apple also paid income taxes on that same money right?

I'd sell too... and build a fortified house in the boonies somewheres safe.

Apple's success is confusing in the way that many things are confusing about people IMO. :p

iphones and ipads ...

remember answering those old school phones? I almost never answer my phone nowadays, which is a cell phone. I don't really want anybody to call. :p

I miss answering machines, and making experimental recordings on them...

Abusing food stamps like that is still 10x harder than cashing a welfare check and hitting up the crackhouse.

It's getting to the point where leaving a message is senseless.

Almost all the time I leave a message on someone's voicemail I get an instantaneous text of "you called?" ...yeah listen to the VM :\

uh, you guys parroting the capital gains tax = 15% - you know apple also paid income taxes on that same money right?

Not exactly... they paid their 15% on SOME of their revenue BUT they funnel insane amounts of cash overseas.

Any way you look at it Apple is pure evil. They are pure darth vader baby... May the 4th be with yout

Who said I was OK with any of that? MANY stores you can even buy energy drinks it varies by how the register rings them up! MANY gas stations will accept them and they'll gladly put anything through as food.

The system is completely flawed. I believe anybody on food stamps should be required to take several different classes and pass tests (only written in english) to get on food stamps in the first place.

#1 budgeting
#2 nutrition - make them realize their kids are fat because you give them 3k calories a day and dont make them go exercise
#3 some form of cooking class
#4 NFL play60 program within a 20 minute drive of everybody in america. every kid short of disabled ones NEEDS to be active an hour a day. Any decent parent should be doing this but I'd bet money 75% of us on food assistance dont do it.

Apple pays taxes on their income. Stock holders pay taxes on the market value increase of their shares if/when they sell. Two different things (and shares do not increase in value specifically because the company is now worth X+Y instead of X). Now if we were talking about dividends being personally taxed after corporate income taxes that's a different thing.

Never said you where OK with anything just took what you said and basically expanded on it and added my opinion.

The biggest problem with your suggestion is $$$ its cheaper to just dish out the food stamps than to spend the cash to host these classes. Its pretty unrealistic to be honest.

Now to be perfectly honest with you if a person on food stamps has the time for all these classes etc. they just need to get a fucking job...

Also, an unemployed student getting food stamps is in no fucking place to judge others.

For the record never got food stamps, we got wic. I smoke, work my ass off and if i did get food stamps for whatever reason would probably slap the fuck out of some jobless guy judging me for buying smokes.

Honestly its pretty insulting to see a guy in your position judging others.

I work 2 jobs, go to school and still have time for my daughter all i see is excuses. Shit i go to school with 18 year old kids that have no responsibility and STILL work 2 jobs and manage to party like crazy AND get passing grades.

I think people getting food stamps should be required to have a job...

Pretty fucking judgmental for being a complete drain on the system and your family. Get a job... Get 2 if you have to.

This kind of action usually denotes a top in the stock.. Apple will be facing quite a bit of competition in the coming years that will result in margin compression.. He did the right thing... and yes Apple stock is a bubble. Kind of like Microsoft and other tech stocks in March 2000.

I'm still betting on insider trading. Especially after the way Apple is getting it's ass handed to it by that judge stopping their bullshit claims.

I've picked up 18 credits the past 2 months. I have 20 credits in classes starting monday and will be testing my way to more credits while taking those classes. The jobs that were available to me weren't worth it. I am putting forth the effort to get my degree significantly faster. These 2 semesters I'm getting at more than 3 semesters worth of classes. The faster i can get to the degree I'm seeking the faster I'm pulling in $60k/yr instead of say 12k which is what I'd get while working and full time school. I will be getting my degree a full year earlier so I will then be making considerably more immediately.

Any way you look at it putting school as top priority gets you to a far higher paying job faster so even in the cumulative 5yr picture I've still made more money doing it this way... Since this method actually earns more money I'd be stupid not to take advantage of some programs that ILLEGAL mexicans abuse every single day. People putting forth 0 effort in life as a whole get these programs so why work a POS job where most of my check goes to daycare and taxes just to make me take longer to get the degree I need.

Smokers simply have no room to be able to complain about not having money if they're in the pack a day area or even the pack every other day. I'm in a cheaper cig state and its still over $5/pack 1 pack/day is $35/wk... I've fed my family that... half that is $17/wk 2wks of smokes or 1 wk of food? They could simply give that up and BOOM no actual requirement for help on food with their new found wealth. Places where smokes are more expensive have yet even less room to talk. Cigarettes have simply no place in civilized society.

you do realize he's going to get hundreds of millions of dollars worth of additional stock in the near future... its pointless to sit on that much stock when you can cash out and just get more stocks given to you.

Money in the bank is better than paper money any day of the week. Back in the good days I had over $100k in "paper money" just to watch very large chunks of it disappear on me. When you get greedy you can lost that paper money rather quickly

Disposed...I have a new found respect for you.

mkrohn...You said you wife was off work with a newborn earlier...that sounds like maternity leave to me yet you put it out like you got a kid and the wife is unemployed.

You taking college classes and getting food stamps...good for you. You are taking MY money for YOUR own profit, so stop talking all your judgemental and misleading bullshit.

Your point will be well received IF Apple stocks do not take a hit.

To your other point, if the stocks DO take a hit to the point where the stock would be extremely de-valued, and this 'VP' knew it was coming, then he would be guilty of insider trading, regardless of his position to receive future stocks of any amount.

its apple... they're not going to tank. They can just say you're holding it wrong and all is better or release a new version early and charge top dollar all over again. Companies with tangible goods are less volatile than say back when google was pretty much nothing but search

never said she doesn't work.. Like you said I said she's off right now... She makes just enough that we barely qualify for food stamps and pay our bills just fine including a 2012 caravan SE with no extra options (rebates + under invoice made the new the same price as used then throw in lower interest rate...)

So you wanna complain about a white guy actually busting his ass to get an education to get a REAL job? You must really complain a LOT if thats something you actually feel like complaining about.. Go to a grocery store sometime at about 9PM or so and see how much trailer trash is out with their YOUNG kids at that hour letting them eat crap while pushing them around in a cart with a tv in it.

Also disposed you mention yourself working 2 jobs and other students working 2 jobs... You do realize that 1 job = 40hrs/wk NOW how many jobs are you and those others working? Every time I hear people boasting about working 2+ jobs most of them still aren't working 40 hours TOTAL a week between the 2. I LOVE calling those "I'm working 3/4 jobs" people out and total they're at about 50 hours or less. Last time somebody in my house was working 2 jobs it was 72hrs/wk and we put aside a ton of money.

During the 2 .com bubbles I paid in far more than my fair share of taxes. Back in 07/08 ALONE I paid in about $60k. I've more than covered the $400/mnth I'm going to get for about a 2yr span. Lack of education eventually caught up to me. I've shifted between different things over the years. I used to buy broken xbox 360's by the pallet and was making a ton repairing and selling those for a long time. I jtagged hundreds of 360's until paypal started forcing warranties on you no matter what AND started reporting revenue to the IRS at about the same time.

So you wanna complain about a white guy actually busting his ass to get an education to get a REAL job?

No, I am happy you are trying to better yourself. I'm just calling you out because of your judgemental hypocracy.

I LOVE calling those "I'm working 3/4 jobs" people out and total they're at about 50 hours or less.

Because it somehow makes you feel more secure to demean others?
