KegDroid Beer Serving Robot!

Kids from my school are developing a robot that dispenses mixed drinks so... that is definitely way cooler then just a kegerator with a tablet.

The swith flow? :D

Should have gotten someone to speak that didn't have a speech impediment.

There was also an iPad version, but Apple banned it because they don't support third party intoxication. Apple users are only permitted to be intoxicated by their devotion to Apple.

I have a feeling the "cool factor" for this thing is inversely proportional to how much you have had to drink.

"Fuck you, Droid! Gimme a beer!"

As cool as I think that is, and as much of a geek I am myself, I don't think that guy has gotten laid since 1991. :p

I'm not really all that impressed. Sure the sum of the parts is great, but there could have been a much cooler solution.

What I see is that you have your own mug with an NFC on the mug itself. You can program your name and beer preference using your phone perhaps. Now you can go and have the right beer poured for you automatically, it can track how many beers you drink and which kind, and if you ever forget whose cup is whose, just scan with your phone!

I guarantee version 2.0 will have robot breasts. Bar wenches everywhere better spruce up their resumes.

Nice idea but why do you need to Authenticate? At a bar the tap and kegs are behind the bar. In a home what are you doing protecting the booze from your kids? Also IPA's are strong, bitter and I find them undrinkable. The hops are always off the chart. That brown ale however looks delicious! I typically drink beers with 5%-6% ABV and they are usually ales, lagers, and bocks. Does the guy in the video sell his beers or does he just brew for himself?

IPA's are delicious IMO. While there aren't may beers that I don't like, if I have to have only one beer, it's most often an IPA.

not impressed.

First, after 5 minutes I was like "Pour the frickin' Beer already !".

Then when the time came, HE had to pull the lever.

It's basically a flow meter in a green plastic robot case.

Fail.

Interesting idea but it seems overly complex for no reason. It looks like he has Perlick faucets on there which means he certainly knows good draft equipment but if he had gotten the flow control model they make he wouldn't have had the foam issue, then again that might have caused problems with the flow meter.

It gets a little complicated but it basically has to do with pressure(psi inside keg) vs back pressure(resistance created by length/diameter of beer line), dirty lines can also create foam. Every beer has a recommended CO2 content(carbonation level) which is achieved by adjusting the PSI and you can get a system balanced for a specific pressure by adjusting the length of line you use but if you switch to a beer with higher carbonation then you'll get foam and if you switch to a lower carbonation beer then it will pour slowly. The flow control faucets allow you to adjust the back pressure at the faucet so it pours more slowly.

This project would be infinitely more interesting if they somehow managed to control that.
