Hey guys. I have an upcoming 14 hour flight NYC to Tokyo. Just the thought of sitting that long is already driving me crazy. I'm sitting in business so I will have a good movie selection ect.
I'm bringing on flight....Macbook Air, Ipad, Android phone. Any suggestions what games you would load up for this long trip?
Thanks

Um, any single player game that looks interesting to you.

Amazing answer. Thanks.

hahahaha. its like "why didnt i think of that?" :D

angry birds is free and fun if you havent done that yet. cant say ive played all that many other mobile OS games though. knocking out a season of a good tv show youve always been meaning to catch up on is a decent way to pass the time too.

Tap Tap Revenge. I bore easily and that's the only mobile game that kept me entertained continiously for hours. Getting all the tracks perfected can become an obsession. But that's just me.

True. Forgot about TV shows. To bad I just did the whole season of Thrones.

on a macbook, how many actual game options do you have? honestly tetris or a poker game is about all you need til you get bored and pass out for the 12 hours left on the flight.. you are definitely going to want to fall asleep on the flight.. 14 hours on a plane with the same people isn't fun, especially if your unlucky like me and always end up with 3 or 4 kids crying on the plane the entire flight. oh and fair warning, make sure you get up a few times during the flight.. dead legs are a killer when you try to get off the plane in tokyo, lol. :D

If you enjoy Telltale's adventure games many are available for mac and will play just fine on the iGPU if you turn down some settings.

fap?

Nobody ever said you had to be with someone to join the mile high club.

Spend a few hours playing on the computer, then get totally and crazy face loaded drunk. Pass out and wake up 8 hours later :)

I like books on tape, I can lay back, listen and pass out.

Get a kindle. You know, the device that can actually work all 14 hours nonstop without running out of power ;)

Also: watch Justified, Archer, Vampire Diaries, lots of good shows out there you might not have seen.

Well it's such an open-ended question. What genre of games do you enjoy? Go to any video game ranking site, sort by top ratings, and go down the list of anything you haven't played that looks interesting. I'll give you a head start:

Diablo series
Half-Life series

Like herman cain I do declare myself the most original muthafucka in this thread.

Go download Disciples II. Turnbased strategy tactical RPG. Best game to play on a flight. more than 14 hours long. Dont need a mouse touchpad is fine.

/thread

Lets go home people

I wish I could sleep on flights. I recently flew Australia -> US -> India -> Dubai -> Australia (with a couple of days to a couple of weeks in each location) and fuck I wish I could sleep on planes, at most I slept about an hour and a half on the 14 hour flight to the US, and got maybe an hour sleep during a 3 hour stop over in Belgium on the way to India, despite being up the whole previous night and day packing my bags and marking exams.

I'd just bring a book, couple of TV shows/movie on your IPAD/Laptop.

Since it's business class you get to drink for free booze and eat semi good food ... So have a few drinks eat the food then just go to sleep.

In your business class bag you get earplugs and a thingy that goes over your eyes.

This. Booze up, read a boring book or watch a boring movie, fall asleep. Those hours spent sleeping means more hours for fun in Tokyo rather than hours spent gaming on a plane.

I'll second bastion (It really is one of the best games of 2011), and I'll put in a recomendation I'm suprised nobodys put in yet: Sword & Sworcery EP

And if you're into block-breaking style games Shatter's got a pretty unique twist on the standard mechanics, plus my favorite soundtrack from a video game ever, but it is PC only (unless you haul a PS3 onto the plane with you )

also this. That could easily hold me over for 14 hours.

+1 to book on tape. If there's a book in the public domain in which you're interested, you can always download it from http://librivox.org/librivox-catalogue/

Some readers are better than others. There are a couple of saucy-sounding Brits who record prolifically, so keep an eye out for them.

Made a similar thread not too long ago:

Also, what airplane? I was flying on the new airbus plane, and OMG.. i didn't even touch the laptop. Over 50 movies to choose from (a lot of them new or fairly recent movies that have just been released in the theaters) and even more TV shows. It was the first time when the 10 hours didn't seem like a lot. Make sure to bring a USB charger with you on board. Again, dunno what plane, but the airbus only offered USB outlets to charger your devices.

I've taken multiple overseas flights and usually the movies and series they have kills a lot of time. As stated above the airbus is really nice and I rarely use electronics on these flights besides music to drown out people. Kindle is great too.
For games plants vs zombies maybe. Small games that use little power. Angry birds can waste a few hours space is fun. . I bring my DS cuz the battery lasts forever. Usually I travel for like a day and a half to 2 days.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X and tell everyone around you that you are flying the plane through remote control.

Space Chen on steam, amazingly complex if you don't just want to brute force the solutions.

Drink 3 beers once you hit 36,000 feet , fall asleep and let your brain the best "entertainment" device on the planet provide.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Flying on ANA, we have the little pods so won't be that bad. It's a morning flight from NYC so I think the best thing to do is stay up ? the night before and sleep the first half of the trip. We land the next day at 3pm.:(

ive crossed the pacific a few times (one flight lasted 23 hours! ) I buy books, bring my PSP, and I always smuggle onboard tiny bottles of jim beam.

Heres how it goes. Settle into the flight. Get comfy. Ask for a beverage. (Coca Cola) whip out the jim beam and get drunk. Fall into a nice drunken sleep and after you wake up start in on your entertainment you brought on. Once your laptop or handheld whatever you brought battery dies, go to your book or more jim beam.

When I came home from Korea I flew non-stop from there to Georgia and that shit suuuuuuucked. I am making the same trip soon but from Virginia, its gonna be a long damn flight.... if you are flying Korean Air, they live to give away free drinks, but you gotta ask. :)

next flight to Vietnam will be a HP DMZ1 plus 2 extended battery. should be enough to get to Saigon from where i live. I got 300+ movied ripped to my hdd

I flew from Chicago to Hong Kong last year and it took about 16 hrs. I basically bought a bunch of music that I never heard of or new albums and had a jam session during the flight. The only thing that sucked was my ipod keep running out of battery and my extra charger battery didn't really help. I do recommend a good pair of headphone if you're doing this. I got a Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-ANC7B-Noise-Cancelling-Closed-Back-Headphones/dp/B002HWJT1A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335692297&sr=8-1 which was very comfortable and great noise cancellation. I also revisited old games like Starcraft 1, Empire Earth, and some new games to keep me from going crazy lol.
If you're feeling uncomfortable, especially legs room, grab(ask) some small bottle of liquors or take a walk.
