$238.99 240GB Muskin.SSD SandForce SF-2281

Here's what I get with mine

My CDM scores have been a bit inconsistent. My sequential and 512K write vary from the low 100MB/s to 300MB/s range, and my 4K QD32 scores range from the high 100's to low 300's MB/s. Not sure why

Liking the drive so far. :)

How did you manage to get Amazon to price match this? Appears to be available only though 3rd party sellers on Amazon at the moment.

Amazon no longer has it in stock and they had it priced at 238.99

Was helping my brother in law purchase a Dell XPS laptop, and he was about to spend the $420 to upgrade to a 250GB SSD, I had him get the unit with the 750GB and purchase this drive instead. I'll restore his configuration to the SSD for him after I update the firmware. Thanks for posting OP!

I'm still shocked that the price remained this low and the product in stock for so long.

sigh, my SSD died after just 1 day of use, no longer recognized in bios.

at least newegg advanced RMA me a new one today with one day shipping

Damn, that sucks. Did you update the firmware?

I thought the same thing happened to me when I could no longer remote desktop into my home machine from work. Appears it may just a power outage from wind though. Hoping it works when I get home.

yup, first thing i did after installing windows was update it to 5.0.2

if you read the most recent reviews of the drive on newegg, seems like there has been a very high percentage of failure.. possibly just a bad batch?

Bah, that sucks man.

Not saying it caused your SSD blues, but it is preferable to update firmware on drives that are not running the OS.

I've had this drive running in my system about a week, and fortunately mine has been a champ. Its blazing fast and though I've been pounding it pretty hard w/ benchmarks etc, no BSOD's or other issues.

my drive (ordered from amazon) arrived last night, will have to see what firmware is currently on there and see if i have any issues

Got my drive from Newegg. Not sure what firmware it shipped with, but I updated it to 502 as soon as it came and before tossing Windows onto it

Hmm, mine is fine so far. I have been running it more than a day now. Have to say I love SSDs :). Mine came with 5.02 from newegg maybe there the update is killing the drive if it already has 5.02 on it.

i received the replacement unit from Newegg on Tuesday (thanks to overnight shipping), been working great since.

if it makes a difference, it came pre-flashed to 502

I ordered one. I hope mine doesn't die after a day because it's going inside an iMac, which I have to take half apart in order to install it.

Just did fresh windows install, and damn I'm suprise it loads windows 7 slower than my Corsair Force GT and Crucial M4 (about 2 or 3 seconds slower)
Here is my ss As SSD

Ok...so I start the RMA process with Amazon..UPS pickup tomorrow maybe..stick this thing back in make sure its still not working ...and fck!! Its working again!! Stressed it ..benched it and freaking running like it should...WTF!!! Thursday I couldn't get a peep out of it...!!! Like its new again!! Do I stop the RMA refund or keep it??

Got mine a few days ago, threw it in a Dell E6420 Laptp w/ QM67 chipset and did a fresh install. Good first impression, that's for sure.

I could probably eek out a bit more performance by tweaking till I'm blue in the face, but I'm not too worried about it. In comparison to my previous experiences with the original Agility 30GB, Vertex 2 60GB, and Corsair Force 90GB this is pretty slick. I'll probably wait for the next big price drop and pickup another... hopefully we'll see affordable 1TB+ SSDs in a couple years. :)

Got mine from Amazon on the 20th. Ordered on the 10th. I talked to a rep on Amazon and he told me when the shipment was coming in. Guess there wasn't enough to go around. I suggest asking to see when the next one is coming in.

I'm a little upset about the casing. The power and sata adapter were hanging loose and wouldn't connect using my swappable HD enclosure. I had to nudge a plastic strip to keep the adapters upright. Compared to other SSDs this one doesn't have the surrounding plastic to keep the adapters secure. It might have gotten loose when i slided it in. Sigh not worth exchanging because this thing is a beast. Updated to latest firmware.

So I did the same thing... I couldn't get a write test with HDTUNE because I have that annoying 100mb partition that the system created... Guess I'll try AS SSD

Does anyone actually know how to get around that? :(

Drive died after a few reboots in a Dell XPS 1702. I'm seeing similar reports with the 5.0.2 firmware on Newegg. My drive shipped with 5.0.2 firmware. Big steaming pile of WTF. I think I'll stay away from anything Sandforce from now on.

Funny I just did a lot of rewiring of my internal SATA ports. I don't know how or why but 2 of the cables went bad for no reason at all. I got a few BSODs after a day or two I installed the SSD. Looking in the error log I had ATAPI controller errors on the SATA port the SSD was on and because of this thread I was having a bad feeling. So I checked all the connections and changed the order of the HDs in my system and today I see some of the drives dropped out for no reason (like they were disconnected). I reboot and some of the drives don't show up in the bios (port reset). I narrow it down to 2 ports and I think maybe the motherboard ports went bad, but just to check I swap cables for some new ones and now the system is up and running fine.

Point is make sure you check the cables. I have been building my own PCs since the 486 days and this is the first time I have ever had cables go bad on me where no physical damage was done. Those horrible air flow IDE cables were something let me tell you. The only time those broke was when they got stuck and the connector kind of broke off. I twisted them like mad and nothing ever just broke. These SATA ones though just went bad for no apparent reason, maybe at worst case a slight bit of pressure when I installed the SSD cable to the motherboard connector.

LOL, of course. I hear ya, and all was tested. I tried both drive sockets on the laptop, multiple sata cables and ports on my main computer, and the BlacX dock on another. The drive was unresponsive on all of them .
