Had to replace my G5, the wire pulled out of the end of the mouse, and it was out of warranty. Logitech CS was extremely helpful and provided me with a coupon to their store for my trouble of calling, so I "upgraded" to a G500.

It's a little bigger, which is really nice, but the wheel doesn't click, it just rolls. I've never used a mouse that did that before. Is it supposed to have no feedback?

Also, the mouse seems slower than the G5, on the middle setting. I had to turn up the sensitivity in Windows to compensate.

You can set your wheel into two different modes by clicking that button close to it. The smooth mouse scroll is called hyper scroll.

Oh nice. It still not as tight as the G5 was, but at least its changeable. Thanks.

I've been using hyperscroll for 3 years now and can't live without it :) Very important when viewing webpages

I recently got a G500 aswell. Except when I go to download the Logitech drivers from the Logitech website, it won't let me get past the part where you select your OS. Oh well, the mouse works fine as is!

I've never installed any drivers for any Logitech devices, never had a problem.

What OS do you have? I think I can send you a direct link.

Ok, now playing around with the mouse and smoothly transitioning between scroll and hyper scroll, I can say its pretty nice.

I also have a g500, the mouse3 button went on it. But, it took less than 5 minutes on the phone with customer service for them to mail me a new one, can't beat that. Had it for 2.5 years at this point, service was incredible.

It took me a little while to get used to the smooth scroll option, but it can have its advantages.

For some reason the G500 was always a bit tougher for me to control. (still using mx 518 from logitech).

Use the software that came with it, it's an amazing mouse. Weighted correctly it's hard to beat!

I wish the G500 was a bit larger. Kinda used to the Performance MX mouse (which is bigger), but I wish that mouse was bigger as well.

I guess I have big hands...

i recently got a g700, i like it much. i own a bunch of logitech things and it's all quality stuff. and yes, i can never go without hyper scroll again. i had it on my last logitech mouse (mx620) and i can't stand it any other way now.

I love my G500, adjustable DPI, Hyper Scroll, braided cord. Everyday when I get to work and get on the work machines Im like F**k I hate this

How does the G500 'click'? I'm looking for a mouse that has a quiet, easy click. I'm currently using the MX518 and I'm looking to upgrade to a mouse that doesn't require as much effort when clicking.

JOIN A GYM ... holy hell the mouse button is too hard to push?

I got a G500 my G5 died, I bought a corsair M60 (HATED IT... nice build quality... didn't like the software and thing fit my hand so badly it was laughable) returned it got a g500 the click is about the same a my G5 (or so yeah basically mouse like) .. doesn't seem to require any great amount of effort to click to me... I mean you have to push the damn thing but seems fine to me.

/shrug

I broke my index finger and don't hold a mouse like most do.

I loved my G500 until I started using very low sensitivity in FPS's. If you ever use low sens for FPS gaming, I suggest optical mice because lasers have problems with detecting fast movement at low sensitivity (thats how my G500 was at least). But it was definitely a solid mouse.

It's been useless for me on webpages and pretty much everything else. When I read webpages, I want to scroll bit by bit as I read. There aren't many situations where I want to scroll far quickly.
