If Facebook Were Invented In The 90s

I'd never have a profile pic in the 90's Facebook :-P

I don't remember using the 'web' per se in the early 90's, only the local BBS systems and AOL (because that's what my family subscribed to). On a side note, the facebook would not have been so popular back then because no one had tablets or smart phones. Unless someone was already nerdtastic, they wouldn't be sitting in front of their computer so often.

Lynx motherfuckers!

But then again EARLY 90s I was getting shit from FTP sites on a dialup modem :D

We would spend 2 hours loading homepage cause of all the bs on FB with out dial up modems!!!

Considering a lot of options wouldn't exist in the early 90's, the page would load with no problem. If you meant loading today's fb or myspace page... Yes the computer would just give up and blow up.

In the early 90's I was using Qmodem and Wildcat BBS to log into MUD games and later used telnet into IRC chats.

I didn't use browsers and internet software until Windows 95.

It was a fun time to be an internet user! Or should I say ARPAnet user? ;)

Amen Brother. Those were the days.

my us robotics 28.8 would have totally screamed on "the facebook"

When I first started with BBSes, I remember trying to download QModem which was, if I remember about a 650KB file; it took almost 2.5 hours at 1200 baud. I eventually settled on Telex as my favorite software for getting onto BBSes. Trying to get Apogee shareware at 2400 baud was fantastic, too. heh

We had Facebook, except it was HTML or Java chat rooms. Just like Facebook --- 2 people you actually want to interact with and 47 you couldn't care less about. Those chat rooms were a lot weirder than anything I've ever seen on FB.

A/S/L? WANNA CYBER?

Does that bring back memories of what chatrooms pretty much consisted of?

Hmm. Facebook on dialup. Wouldn't that be called Compuserve?

Before Al Gore invented the internet people used computer modems to call other computers (sometimes as fast as 2400 baud! I know, right?) called BBS's or bulletin boards. I ran one as a teenager. Man I wish I had all the time and money I spent on that crap back. What a colossal waste of time. I should have been spending my time on more important work. Like chasing chicks.

Not like I can put "Ran a Commodore 64 BBS back in the 80's running C-net 11". Oh how I used to toil, tweaking that precious code in basic.

Holy crap I'm old.

We all know that if The Facebook were around in the early 90's it would have been part of AOL. "You've got friends!."

Al Gore never said he invented the internet.....
And to believe that is ludicrous.
What he said was that he invented the TERM "information highway".....
