Have a Vita...want an iPad.

Why are you buying an iPad just for games?
You gotta decide, do you want to play kick ass games (Vita) or general games and do tons of other things (ipad)?

Read post before yours. I didn't want an iPad just for games, I was moreso making an overall decision in terms of use, and not one based solely on games. Went with iPad instead, never looked back. Can't justify a device that only has 1 game really, that I wanted to play.

I would say keep the vita. It sounds like with either device there is a chance you might get bored with it, but I would say the Vita has a chance of at least announcing a new game later on, that might make you want to play it.

From personal experience, I've never really been excited about a new app coming out (other people might, who knows), but if I ever got bored of a tablet, I see myself having a hard time having fun with it again.

I think we need to close this thread. No one is reading that my Vita is GONE. Sold. I don't think people read anymore.

VITA has an ugly kidified interface (silly rounded icons and Mii type things).

iPad 2 has a stale and out of date interface (clusterfuck of icons and folders, no widgets, no docks, no other way to organize, etc.)

Your VITA is gone but in your shoes, I would have traded for a decent Android tablet, perhaps with keyboard like the ASUS Transformer Prime and perhaps you could even do some of all that work you are doing on it.

I have both and I use the iPad much more than the vita. I beat all the games I wanted to play that are currently on the Vita, but I am very excited for the future of it.

If you want it for just gaming, I would wait for the Vita to get some more games.

I'm satisfied with my purchase, I am using the iPad as it was meant to be used, as a reader and an occasional time-waster. Working great so far. I do not regret getting rid of the Vita, since I will be returning post-haste, as soon as games I want are on the verge of being released.

A few weeks ago, my cousin was showing me FIFA on his Ipad 2. I was actually shocked at the quality of the game on there. It was nearly identical to the console versions. In fact, about the only difference I noticed was that the commentary was much more limited. The coolest feature was that there was actually a FIFA app for the Iphone that turned it into a controller for the game via bluetooth. Granted, this also requires you to have an Iphone, but I'd bet that a majority of Ipad owners fall into that category anyway. More games should follow suit IMO.

Totally. Circles are for kids. Squares with rounded corners are for adults.

Interface being kidified has no value on buying-decision, at least for me. I just wanted more games, and couldn't justify it.

FIFA iOS doesnt even come close to the experience of FIFA Vita. FIFA vita is the first mobile game to run the current gen engine(on the ps3/360) on a mobile. Graphically it looks way better and it runs at a better frame rate.

Not to mention the vita has physical controls.

I was being sarcastic :p. I actually don't mind the Vita interface, since I don't spend my time looking at the interface, but instead playing games. Heck, it could have been pastel colored unicorns with the name of the games written across them, if all I have to do is touch the space that starts the game, then press play, I'm good.

Definitely like the Vita interface over the PSP. The 3DS interface is pretty similar, except that it's scalable and has square buttons (but the Mii thing and kidified feel permeates the whole thing).

OP, had I been in your shoes and had to choose one over the other, definitely would have gone iPad, too. My iPad to Vita usage is probably 3:1. Gaming, more like 1:2, but I use my iPad for other things much more than I game on my Vita.

It doesn't shock me at all that the quality of a game on a device whose primary function is gaming is superior to the tablet version of the game. I was just pointing out that I was actually very surprised at the quality of FiFA iOS. I had really only ever thought of an iPad as an oversized iPhone with games to match (ie. Fruit Ninja type stuff).

Pretty much, I use the iPad SEVERAL hours a day, reading a lot more now too.

Touchscreen works great for RPG games too at least it does on my iPhone. Personally after the PSP I won't touch another mobile device dedicated just to gaming. The PSP in a box somewhere has practically never been used, I use my iPhone every day for tons of things including mobile gaming, they/iPads are underrated gaming machines. I'd rather spend my money on something that can be used for more than one thing. If I was rich sure go for a Vita too but if I have to make a choice the choice is obvious.
