Rebuilding array on Areca controller

Hi. My server's PSU died recently. During the downtime I tried to take two workstation PSUs and get the box back up, but after running for a minute 4 drives fell off the array so I shut it down and waited for the real one to come in the mail.

Got here today and just installed it. However, the alarm sounded shortly after starting up with 2 drives having failed :( I replaced the one and it's rebuilding now. The configuration is Areca ARC-1160ML2 driving 16 WD 1TB drives in RAID6. I'm now in the danger zone, if I lose another drive before this gets done rebuilding I'm hosed.

I was thinking about replacing the other failed drive awhile, but was unsure if I should since the controller is presently rebuilding the first failed drive I just replaced. Should I wait, or can I just replace the other one and let it rebuild both at once to save time?

Thanks!

Thanks. Yea, you're right.. I wouldn't be "hosed", but it will SUCK, timewise, to restore from 51 LTO2 tapes haha.

You win the "I actually understood that RAID was not a backup" award for today!!!!! Unfortunately, we haven't been able to give out too many of these awards lately.

I am still using LTO2 tapes at work. I have 120 of them (keep them in 20 tape turtles) although the 2 drive 24 slot autochanger helps a lot and I for the most part do not backup more than 4TB at a time.
