Need some advice.

I mainly play games on my 6950s crossfire setup.

I can still return my S27A950D and pick up some Dell U2312HM for eyefinity.

The price will be about the same, so that's not the issue.

I do enjoy the 3D on some games, but am worried about the growing light bleed in the bottom right of the monitor; though I would still recommend this unit to anyone looking for a gaming 27inch.

I also plan on doing some photo editing now that the wife bought me a new camera to play with.

I had both for a period ( 3 x 2412 ) and the S27A950D, I enjoyed both, the 950 does have bad backlight bleeding, but damn do games feel smooth on it, :) after using 3 screens in portrait for a while, it's hard going back to a single screen, I ended up returning the 27" and sticking with the 3 24s.

If you have not yet used eyefinity / surround, you might want to keep in mind the additional horsepower required to keep games fluid, before trying it out, it seems people either love it or hate it, and once u love it ur hooked.

I have two unlocked 6950s overclocked to 900/1275 (I don't like heavy overclocking) in crossfire. Most games play without issue, i.e. BF3, L4D2.

Would the 6950's suffice for an eyefinity setup?

Only recommendation, don't do portrait eyefinity. 3 people I know have done it with 16:9 monitors, 3 have stopped using Eyefinity alltogether.

With 23s I would go landscape and move the computer from my desk to the floor.

Eyefinity / Surround, are really the type of technology that you have to try for a week or two before you will ever know if its right for you. Unfortunately for most people that means dropping 1 or 2K on a "I hope i like this."

I had 3 HPZR24W's in portrait eyefinity and then moved to surround with my 580's and i loved it. But it does have its drawbacks. I have never understood the landscape setup, it just seems like wasted pixels to me, I constantly found myself staring at the middle monitor and forgetting the other two.

Portrait was great but there were two major problems for me. First was the performance hit. I dropped 1100$ on 2 580's and was dialing back settings in dozens of games. I found i would much rather have 1 monitor maxed out settings at 100 FPS then 3 running mixed settings at 45FPS.

The other problem for me was games not supporting the technology, Affter several big name titles launched with crappy or no support i decided to go back to one monitor. I deal with PC problems all day at work, got sick of coming home only to spend an hour tweaking a game to get it to run right.

I now run 1 27" Samsung and love it. Simple, everything works and i have plenty of performance. I am debating upgrading to a 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 screen, but i have since sold 2 of my 3 HP ZR24's and kept the third for a second monitor.

The technology is great and if i could upgrade my video cards every 8 months and have 1 30" monitor and switch back and forth between the two i probably would have kept it, but i don't have the space to accommodate that many displays.

The best advice i could give you, is try it out first, if at all possible. Let the WOW factor wear off first, and give it an honest try and decide if its right for you.
