OP, for purely gaming, a 120hz TN panel is obviously the only contender. Samsung 27A750D is what I have.
That said, a 120hz TN panel shouldn't be your ONLY monitor...!
You could get one of the Korean 27" 2560x1440 monitors.
Does the Samsung have a 1920x1200 version? A little smaller or bigger display would be fine to hit that mark (though 24" is too small).
What is this everyone keeps referring to? Is it a new brand of monitor?

I have this and am thinking of picking up 2 more. Its sub 600 atm.
The Asus VG278H is better but it has back-lighting issues. According to PRAD.de the Asus has a switching frequency of 360hz (vs 180hz=flicker on the S27A950D) when running @120hz and that one should not be able to see flickering

the S27A950D is also good but they 2 seem to commonly have back-light bleeding and the pwn flickering issue
