Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

Apparently these sellers are incapable of responding to more than one email per day. I've been in contact with dream-seller, and I'll send a message at ~10pm my time....won't get an answer until 24 hours later. I then quickly respond the their statement/response and won't hear back from them for another 24 hours.

This is ridiculous.

He probably has a set time allotted to respond to questions, else he'd be at his computer/phone constantly never sleeping trying to get responses to impatient westerners. Maybe he likes, you know, off time. Horrible, I know.

Well, looking at all these monitors, why is the Crossover a little more expensive than the Catleap or the PB270? If I was buying right now, I think I would take a chance on the PB2700 and see what happens.

Is anyone else getting the PB2700? Or has it on order?

$100 to send this thing back through the post office, this deal is getting worse all the time. Ups wanted twice that. Going to check FedEx but not hopeful, any other suggestions?

Find a way to test which component is bad and part it out? Might be easier than trying to ship it back.

The panels are still worth $200ish on eBay, although only one sold recently.

Ok, so I got my Catleap in and did a quick setup:

The good:
Fast shipping.
Well packed, bubble wrapped was thick.
No dead pixels.
Looks amazing, so much it sucks looking at my other monitors.
No problem using a regular computer cable with the power brick.

The bad:
The silver back plate was broke off. I was going to remove it anyway, so this saves me from having to take it apart. There was no damage to the box or the inside, it's just flismy.
Backlight bleed is worse than my Dell 22" IPS LCD's. Again, not a big issue, but you can definitely see it.
It's a 2C, so the most I can get out of it is 65Hz.

The meh:
The stand does not lean like others, but it definitely is not as solid as I would like, but I am going to mount it anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
The included DVI cable is short, so will probably need a new one.

I will post pics in a bit, have some work to do before I get to play.

I have no way of knowing what isn't working, and I'd rather lose 100 than 200. Still an ok deal at 500 provided the next monitor actually works.

Oh right, you're getting a replacement. I was thinking you were going for a refund. Which would not be a good deal.

USPS seems to be the cheapest for international.

I'm tempted to open my brick, but I suspect the circuitry used is perfectly capable of handling 120v input. The output has been tested with a multimeter and found to be correct and stable, the brick doesn't get hot or make odd noises even after several hours use, so I don't think it'll be an issue.

My brick is cool to the touch (room is cool too though) and Brucethemoose over at OCN who bought his almost a month ago now and has been using it that way hasn't reported any issues so I'd assume we're fine as well.

I heard that screens tend to be pretty picky about their power so if the image is solid I'm not gonna worry at this point, esp with the brick itself being cool.

Hope the seller dont forget to mark your replacement monitor as a gift with 50-100 $ value as he probably did on your first monitor , otherwise you could be in for a less than pleasant surprise.

I ordered two Catleaps from green-sum on the 10th, still no shipping information yet and no response from him :(

I bought mine from green-sum. I ordered mine on the 4th and it got shipped on the 8th.
Catleap Q270 SE came in today.
Value was $30.
No dead or stuck pixels.

I assure you.....I'm one of the most patient, laid back people I know. But, when I get a response and it says "REPLY BACK ASAP!!!" and I stay up late to respond quickly, then don't hear from him for another 24 hours.....it starts to get on my nerves.

I am just a bit confused as to what IPSB, IPSM, S-IPS, and all these other prefixes mean. I might actually have to bite on this one.

S-IPS is the panel type (as is e-IPS but it isn't relevant to these monitors as they use S-IPS panels). The other IPS indicators you are seeing in this thread like IPSB, IPSM, etc. are the differing model numbers of some of the monitors. I think there is a breakdown of the differeing model numbers in the thread over at AVS.

The bezel on the 3VIEW is hideous...

Some people prefer function over form rather than form over function. I would wager most of the people interested in that model are far more interested in the function aspect of it.

Could anyone tell what shipper was indicated on the shipping label (was it a private individual or a company of some sorts)? It goes to all sellers because our country's customs are very "thorough" and if sender isnt a private individual there are is going to be at least 100$ of value added tax happiness (because they really do not care if package is marked as a gift) :(

Mine does say someone's name, and he shipped from a post office. And it was marked as gift / value of $30

I ordered from Greensum

At least you are getting a response. I ordered 2 days ago from him and I haven't received a single thing from him. No confirmation, no tracking, no nothing. I will try one more time tomorrow, and then I'm cancelling.

Some of you people really need to calm down. These sellers clearly arent used to so many orders at once. Big whoop that its taking a few more days. They ARE sending them out, so quit crying. It's your own loss.

With the help of a friend who is from South Korea, a guy I was in the military with, once a ROC solider, living in the LA area who of course speaks Korean, I had him translate an email I've written. In that e-mail, I've attempted to reached out to BenQ, Hanns-G, AOC, I-INC and pointed them to this thread and tried to articulate as best I could how extremely popular these displays over here are and the great length at which buyers are going to get these monitors. I'm hoping that someone is paying attention. The panels should drop in quickly to any frame these guys have and the electronics shouldn't be hard to come up with. I'm guessing if they wanted to come to market quickly with such a monitor, they could. I've decided to wait for a US Supplier that I am sure would match these prices. Fantastic product but for now, my 42" LCD with a S-IPS Panel and low latency is just too damn good to put on the back burner.

Yeah no shit.

"Where is my monitor for which I am getting an incredibly good deal!? You are not allowed to take time off to yourself you must answer my emails and ship it NOW!! I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT TIMEZONES, NOW GET OFF YOUR BED AND SHIP IT TO ME IN AMERICAAA FUCK YEAH"

Just ordered the PB2700. Only because of the lower price. Catleap 27s were all $37X, the PB is around $35X. So, the bezel, yeah looks uglier, but hey I used the 2511x which many here considered an awesome TN monitor with perhaps the largest and worst bezel ever made. That didn't bug me much, so I'm hoping the PB2700 wont. Guess I'll be one of the first people with the PB2700 since he just started selling it. I'll let you guys know anything about it when it gets here. Which is estimated Monday/Tuesday.... Guy must be packing it on a rocket or something.

I'm assuming theres no way I can use a HDMI to DVI-D for this monitor? I have a PS3 i'd also like to use and I have a switch that all my hdmi stuff goes through so it would be better if i could just keep everything routed through that. I recall HDMI 1.4 getting support for insanely high resolutions, but I'm assuming this wont work, so I'm just planning on making my 2511x be my designated gaming screen now.

I'm sure it was a thoughtful letter, and you put a lot of effort in, but I don't understand what you're expecting to accomplish. You could write similar letters to Apple about iPads/computers, Sony about TVs, etc.

yellow snow pointed out here that dream-seller has the 3VIEWPCBANK PB2700 for $357.90.

(from seller "redcap")

it was $339 yesterday and advertised as "pixel perfect"

it was then relisted @ $339 without "pixel perfect"

and finally - we see the price raised to what it is now

It's an indication that these sellers are still making money selling these monitors at $340 shipped.

Some money, might be $5 for all we know.

I don't have an issue with them making a profit, we can't expect them to do it for free :p

Ordered a Catleap from dcsamsungmall late on Mar 12. Shipped on Mar 14, and delivered in the Harrisburg PA area this afternoon (Mar 15). Was packed as the retail box, wrapped in bubble wrap about 2 inch thick, like many others.

Picked up: Mar-14-12, 05:07 AM, SEOUL-SI YEONGDEUNGPO-GU 150103
Delivered: Mar-15-12, 17:08 PM, ETTERS, PA 17319

So far so good. No dead pixels. Very nice compared to my old Westy 24" (MVA panel).

Does have the slight lean down and to the right due to the stand, as others have posted previously. Also a little backlight bleed in the corners, but not bad.

Unfortunately for me, I have a 5850 and the monitor doesn't wake up until the Windows desktop is displayed (no BIOS screens). So, I'll be looking for a work around or a new video card.

I've ordered a PB2700 as well. I'll give a status update next week when I receive it.

HossWTC: How does the pixel response seem in comparison to your Westinghouse 24"? How about contrast? I'm pretty sure my Soyo 24" uses the same or similar MVA panel.

Assuming your MVA panel does not have any back-light bleeding and has a 1000:1+ contrast ratio like the good older VA panels and you aren't cranking the brightness it will have better perceived black levels due to the lack of IPS glow, but on paper these IPS panels should be equal if not slightly better. Plus they will have better viewing angles and no gamma shift.

I offered red-cap 415$ for the Crossover 27Q LED-P which was the original pricing. Seems to me like these sellers are price fixing with some of the models...or maybe <insert conspiracy theory>.

Red-Cap accepted:D, can't wait.

If I could get all of you to buy from dcsamsungmall I would.

I ordered a CatLeap yesterday around 3pm. I did a bit more research an decided I wanted a CrossOver instead so I sent him a PM after the payments and everything cleared. Around 9pm yesterday, I got a fedex notification for the CatLeap with a tracking number, which kinda scared me, but sure enough, at around 930 pm, I received a cancelation request and my paypal was refunded immediately. This is the crazy part:

I then ordered the CrossOver monitor at around 1030pm from him and got a Fedex notification and tracking number for the crossover at 1130pm. It shipped out yesterday and I should be getting it on Monday-ish.

Holy crap this guy is awesome.

---posted this on the Hot Deals section already, but I thought I would do it here too since this is the main thread for these monitors---

I also ordered from dcsamsungmall and it was shipped very quickly. Whats the advantage of the Crossover model? Seems like the same panel, no?

LG S-IPS panel but we're not sure of the mainboard and firmware, some of us are hoping it's capable of higher refresh rate like the older Catleaps.

Your letter will likely be ignored. We can only hope that's the case.

These monitors are priced to fit into the Korean market. BenQ, Hanns, AOC, etc would not give "first world" consumers a killer deal on a monitor just because they can build it for $200. They would charge what "first world" consumers are willing to pay for a no-name 27" IPS display with minor imperfections. I doubt that would be $370.

The increased demand for A- panels could drive panel prices up to the point where the Korean display manufacturers can no longer afford to offer these great deals. Remember, these panels are rejects not suitable for top end displays. There are only so many of them. LG tries to build 100% A+ panels. Luckily, they fail and produce some percent of these lesser quality panels. These panels are a byproduct just like lower binned cpus.

In case anyone cares, I got this to work in Linux. It works out of the box with an ATI hd6570 in Xubuntu 12.04. I don't think the open source radeon drivers accelerate this card well, so I installed ATI's. The proprietary catalyst drivers (installed from ATI's site, not ubuntu's repository or additional drivers menu) work great. Youtube works fine and XFCE's UI is fast. I have the Shimian set up in portrait for coding. The only problem is it makes my $130 Acer TN sitting next to it look like ass.

I will report what I can when I get the monitor. What is the best way to check and see if they can? I don't know too much about overclocking monitors lol. I have an AH 7950 that will be hooked up to this. I will actually have to overclock the damn thing to get better frames, thought I doubt more than just a handful of games will make it sweat, even at this resolution, when running at 1.1ghz.

I also ordered from dcsamsungmall and it was shipped very quickly. Whats the advantage of the Crossover model? Seems like the same panel, no?

1. Some of the auction listings show the officially supported refresh rate as 75 Hz rather than 60 Hz, although one of the sellers claims this is false. There is also the possibility that it could be overclocked further, but there is no data to support whether it can or cannot at this point.

2. In the case of the LED-P, it has a much more versatile stand, including features like height adjustment and pivot. Even the cheaper version's stand looks a bit more stable than some of the others, but we haven't gotten any first-hand reports yet.

3. Subjectively, some people think it looks like it has better aesthetics and build quality than some of the others.

In a few days people should be receiving them and can let us know if these perceived advantages are actually real.

Ok shame I didnt know this before ordering the Catleap. I guess I'll have to find an aftermarket stand for it. Any recommendations?

Any stand that supports VESA 75.

I stuck an Ergotron NeoFlex on my Catleap, found one on craigslist for $10, supports all the same stuff as the Cross-over stand. I'll take some picture eventually.
