okay so i just got this card and wanted to see how high it can OC. i tried disabling in trixx utility (says you can't oc without disabling), and it does nothing. changed value in regedit from 1 to 0 and that did nothing. some guides i saw change the value to 0 in two different directories, but i was only able to find enableulps in one directory.

any suggestions? thanks

I had the same problem. Are you running 12.2s (they might register as 12.3)? They don't work with AB or Trixx. Revert back to the January 25th RC11 drivers. There is another thread in this forum that explains the problem (missing dll) and a work-around.

Youll need to turn it off as ATI has redone the driver structure and removed a DLL AB relies on for that mode...

Or pilfer the dll from a previous version and drop it in syswow64/sytem32 depending on your bitness..its atipdlxx.dll i believe

cool thanks! i had found an exe that automatically edits the registry to turn off ULPS, and it said it couldn't finish because something was missing. hopefully a new set of drivers will address this, i don't have any reason to OC the card right now, just wanted to play with my new toy

I could not get it disabled with sapphire 7950 OC and trixx, I installed the newest 12.4 beta and installed afterburner and it worked fine. The config edit needed is posted on guru3d afterburner forums.

I have a non-OC version Sapphire 7950 OCed to 1100/1575 with afterburner but cannot disable ULPS. Have 12.3 i might go back to 12.2 but I already have it OCed soo much and it runs actually pretty cool with this 3000rpm 120mm side fan being controlled via speed fan to give the card all it needs.

BF3 Ultra 2xmsaa dips into the upper 30FPS range on Gulf of Oman 64 players during lots of explosions and I would like to not see 39fps or lower ever in BF3 ultra msaax2. I know that I am very interested in getting that ram speed up faster because I have seen that it really improves fps and benches. Running x79 3820 Oced at 4.4Ghz, 1600mhz 8gb 9-9-9 timings, could OC more but not worth timings with physics and games and BF3 uses only 40% of the CPU on ultra.

Here is my thread about ULPS where some nice [H] guys fixed it for me on the first page. They even linked the missing .dll and where to install it. Hope this helps you'll!

Thanks I uninstalled 12.3 CCC back to 12.1 then copied atipdlxx.dll to wowsys64 then installed 12.2 because 3dmark11 was glitching with 12.1.

9412 is over 9000! and I am happy. Pushing it over 10k maybe much as the card fan has hit 74% with a 3000rpm side fan at 100% temp staying under 71C. Trying not to wear out this GPU fan as I said or havn't said on this forum before.

I am considering removing the plastic shroud and if I ever get a 2nd 7900 series card to put in xfire I would probably just remove both shrouds to increase the air flow from the side fan.
