New Silverstone FT02

better get a magicool 2x180 rad, use it with case stock fans, much better performance, also rad is quite slim

I ended up getting an FT02 today on Amazon. I'm crossing my fingers that I get USB 3.0. When I built my current system I ended up going with the HAF 922. It is much quieter vs the Antec 300 I was using but it is a major dust magnet. There is a company that makes custom magnetic fan filters but at $55 + shipping I wasn't interested (thats like half what I paid for the case). I looked at other cases but after running into the RV03 decided to see what else Silverstone had. I went back and forth between this and the RV02-E but ended up getting this. I like the looks better and it may end up setting on carpet in the future.

Here is what i was thinking sorry for using your image Idef1x.

So you guys are sure that this will fit?

Tubing will most definately be 3/8 5/8.
]

Np about the image - I'm just glad I can be of assistance. I am sure it will fit. The cards you see in my build are Asus EAH6950 and they are 11". According to Nvidia, the GTX 280 is 10.5", so you have more clearence than I did. The radiator in the picture is a HWLabs GTX 360 which is 54mm, so I a thick radiator. You should be home safe.

Unless the Dual 180 Radiator from Magicool is any better than an RX360?

Well, I figure they are about equal. I only saw a little bit of improvement going from the 360 to the triple 180, so IMO it's really a matter of looks. BTW, it's loads easier to route cables with the 360 rad vs the dual 180 or triple 180 - if that matters to you. Oh, and the market for 180mm fans is really nothing to get excited about, where you can get loads of nice and different 120mm fans - also worth taking into consideration.

It is better, you can look up tests of people with more heat in their loop. If you have enough rad power, adding more rad, won't imrpove temps much, because you are getting near to water=ambient limit, it has diminishing returns, closer to ambient temp.
But a 2x180 rad is much stronger, it has same length as 360, except it is 60cm wider. Much larger frontal surface area (50% more than 360, and even 15% more than a 480 rad..).

Silverstone fans are pretty good for rad, and they are for free (you have them with case), that is also worth considering. And they are not some random fans, people who do external setups with 4x180, often buy these fans for radiator, which is not cheap (they are more expensive then any 120mm).

All i do want is silence, and the 180x2 radiator does sit flush which looks sexy with the fans...

Also if you are even considering RX rad, may I ask why? It is disgustingly thick, and there is whole bunch of 360 radiators, not as thick and peform better or equally at all rpm ranges. Differences are minimal. some are little worse, some are bit better (less than 1% differences), but for sure you can't tell that 60cm thick rad is better than other radiators (even 30mm ones), differences in performance just doesn't justify the increased size. And in case of FT02, you don't want too thick rad, as space there is limited.
You could easily get a cheap swiftech MCR rad, set super low rpms, and your temps would be max few % worse than on RX rad.
Lot of people is confused by these results, as they think, double thickness must mean much better performance. While it doesn't transition to results that easily. Low FPI but thick rad, has this flaw, that fact it is thick, also alters the airflow. So making a rad skinnier, but increasing a bit FPI, leads to equal results. That is why all these super thick low FPI rads, don't crush slimmer rads in performance tests. Differences are minimal.

The main reason is for silence, but now im thinking of going for the Magicool 180mm Dual Radiator with the silverstone fans on low.

Edit: Yeah gonna go with the Magicool 180mm

Edit2: I've ordered this case with Alphacool D5

guys tell me something,if i install h60 at the upper exhaust fan, will be f@cked the airflow and the temps of the gpu?
because there is only one exhaust fan and if you block it with the radiator, then the cooling inside the case maybe get worst.
if someone had tested like this,i want an opinion about this..

thanks,i hope the super cooling of this case remain the same.
i'm a bit scary with all these Hydro series,i sold the previous one h80(corsair 600t),due to strange noise..was very annoying.
actually i'm very happy with the 120 black,i want just to change the look inside.

Older pic of my RIG as you can see I have plenty of space & air flow here with no worries to my CPU with H50 I doubled the exhaust fan [ Scythe GentleTyphoon ] sandwich the radiator...
@ the bottom I upgraded to AP180mm way better!...Apt windows closed I get GPU @ regular use 30-35C...When gamin' [ BF 2142, BFBC2 Vietnam, BF3, MofH, Crysis 2 etc etc...Highest 60-75C depending on your room temperature...

Imagine with air conditioner on this summer! :D

@exilelrrp nice thanks ,it looks the temps are similar even if the upper fan is blocked by the radiator,i dont want to f@ck the airflow, the 7970 is a bit warm during bf3,when overclocked 1150/1575.
my only hesitation is the hydro series,i dont want to be noisy the case again, with this strange pump noise.
now the ft02 has the optimum noise and cooling performance,so i really don't know if i should do this cooler change or not.

I hear nothing from the one I have nothing...The only thing that gets loud on my RIG is the GPU fan when I crank it up to 75% speed from default 40% speed...But with my gamin' headset on, I hear nothing but the game! :D

Is there any place where I can buy the black windowed side panel? I can't seem to find anyone selling it.

This is my buddy's FT02:

Magicool 3x 180mm radiator
2x GTX 580 in SLI
i7 2600K @ 5 GHz
EK waterblocks and reservoir

.... and the damned thing is as quiet at load as my fully aircooled FT02 (reference 7970 and Noctua NH-D14) is at idle. Neither CPU nor GPU temps ever reach 60 C.

ok guys, everything fine, actually the h60 its really silent and the case it looks nice

That is tight. For a watercooling noob, could you do me a huge favor and post the model/brand etc of those components? That looks fantastic and if I were going to do it, that's the look I would be going for exactly.

Really want to watercool my machine but can't justify the cost... or the weight. The thing already weighs 40+lbs easily.

Wow! Nice rig dude. I have that same case and motherboard. What's that ASUS card in the last slot of the MB? Is it a sound card? I'm looking for one for my rig but wasn't completely sure if it would work in that special last slot!

Thanks in advance.

The post he's quoting is a different build than post #3146 which has the motherboard that comes with the bundled Thunderbolt card.

In the case of said quoted pic, it does look like a standard Asus Xonar card of some sort.

I could check the exact parts, but I would think you could find everything you want except the huge radiator over at EK Waterblocks.
The key parts from EK, in addition to the water blocks themselves, are the dual front reservoir and the SLI/Crossfire bridges.
The radiator is a semi-custom job from Magicool, that was bought at Frozen CPU.

That's an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card.

With the USB 3.0 upgrade kit for the FT02 Silverstone has finally gotten the wiring right, so you can use the front panel audio with the Xonar without noticeable static.

I've got a quick question about the little power supply bracket that assists the Velcro band. Is it supposed to be threaded? It says in the manual to attach it with two 'C' screws which are the same as the motherboard mounting screws... except they won't fit??! The two holes aren't threaded.

Is this right? What am I missing?

The screws just screw into the plastic of that little psu support bracket. If yours doesn't fit it's likely because the holes/thread on the plastic bracket are too big from being previously used or some similar reason. Just try another pair of screws with a coarser thread or something.

Yeah, what I'm saying is the screws don't fit. They would fit if the PSU support bracket was threaded, but it isn't ??! I'm mega confused.

What's there to be confused about? It's just like how you screw in most plastic case fans. New fans come with the holes smooth, not threaded and the fan screws create their own threading once you screw them into that "virgin" plastic (go ahead, insert your own nasty jokes here if you want).

If the screw is too small, find a bigger one and screw it in and the bigger screw will create new threads for itself. Your basic coarse threaded screw should work fine. You're somehow making this too much on yourself. Maybe get some sleep and start fresh tomorrow???

I don't think I'm making too much of this at all. I'd expect some threads, but there isn't any. All I needed was the advice/suggestion and I'm on my way.

Thanks.

I gave you suggestions - twice. Either you're not reading my posts or I'm being trolled.

It's a screw and a plastic hole - what else is there to figure out?

Goodnight.

I miss my FT02, although I like my RV03 it's nowhere nearly the build quality of the Fortress.

Anyone know how I could get a windowless side panel? I've just emailed Silverstone so I'll see how that goes.

Just ordered a dual 180 rad. I need to save up for the rest of the WC stuff and not going to do gpu watercooling till I find a Kepler card I like (or amd).
