I'm going to be buying a pair of headphones, I had three in mind, just need some feedback on which you guys think is the best out of em.

1 - Corsair Vengeance1500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826816005

2 - ASUS Vulcan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826785024&Tpk=asus vulcun

3 - Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826502019&Tpk=z6a

I do a lot of gaming, just need to know which you guys would recommend, any help is appreciated

none of those. i took some advice on the Audio Technica ATH-AD900 and they are pretty nice.

i agree with ultra.. the AT stuff is nice.. i have tried sennhieser too which is also good

What is your source? If you have a soundcard that can do Dolby Headphone or CMSS-3D, I'd go with something like the ATH-AD700s instead.

I myself have the ATH-A700 and a Zalman Mic. I've had Turtle Beach and other "dolby" headphones and the ATH-A700 are my top choice. Love them. The ATH-AD700 are the open headphones.

thx for the input guys. right now I'm running an xfi-music. Plan to get one of those asus xonar's though

also, what is the difference between closed air and open

Open means that sound can travel in and out of the headphone. So you can hear outside noise while using them, and others can hear the sound from the headphones. For gaming, closed usually means more bass, and open means bigger sound-stage (and possibly better positioning).

For gaming headphones (or any headphone for that matter!) the only thing I recommend at this point (especially for the price ~$200, check eBay) are the Sony PFR-V1's...the sound and comfort can be summed up in one word. Incredible. Has excellent lows, mids, and high, talking top-end kit here that sold for $600 when released...and the sound stage is wide as shit! Easily has better surround than ANY actual surround sound headphone I've ever used do to the "Personal Sound Field" technology, sounds like audiophile stereo speakers more than headphones (Dolby Head-what?!).

Squeeze together a lil bit more cash and i'll recommend me what i just bought
Sound Card : Asus Xonar DG
Headset : Sennheiser PC360

Amazing sound quality, comfy, great quality mic.

Wow...Glad to see so many different options being suggested instead of the same ol' same ol'.

That being said, I would recommend the Denon AH-D2000's. Incredible bass. Great sound stage for a closed headphone. Great detail. Find used for 200.

Or my new favs, the HiFiman HE 300's. Love them so much I actually sold my AH-D2000's. They are really comparable to the AH-D2K's. The soundstage is a tad larger on the Denon's, but IMO they do everything else better. They are 250 new.

I really enjoy the Sennheiser HD280s for headphones. Bass response is great, and they are perfect for listening to music too.

The PC 360's are really nice. The thing I like about the open air is I don't feel like I have to yell into my mic for someone to hearme. Like how you feel you need to talk louder with headphones on cause you don't hear your voice at regular volume. You hear everything in the room like normal. I always got compliments on how good the mic was too. People could hear me nice and clear.

I'd get a set for gaming and another set for music/whatever.

I use a Zalman MIC1 right now and it does its job but it doesn't compare to the mic on a quality gaming headset.

I thought about getting the A40 or Turtle Beach etc. But money is tight and since I listen to music I bought the ATH A700. Got me the Zalman mic and a X-fi Titanium. No problems what so ever and I hear everything clearly plus I sound fine over the mic. I've been using this setup for 2-3 years I believe.

Also, I game on the 360 with my A700 and Zalman mic with no issues.

@TroyX I'd really like to hear how they have no bass. Artificially bass-boosted cans are horrible.

I own the hd280s and they suck, their for sale too, upgraded to the ath-m50s, didn't realize how bad they were until I got the ath-m50s, they have no bass and a very narrow soundstage, possibly the most overated headphone on the market

Those murder my head with their clamp force. I couldn't wear them longer than 30 minutes before ripping them off in an agonized fit of pain.

Edit: In response to the original question, I'd recommend you try to demo a few sets before you buy. I'd say with gaming, your main priority should be comfort. That's just my opinion, though.

Just wanna echo the 280 statements. I've never disliked a headphone as much as those
Painful and boring.
