Cowboom has used 2nd Gen 8GB iPod Touches for $69.99 + $5 shipping, condition says they may have a few scratches but that's a heck of a price either way.

For those of you who don't know, Cowboom is a branch of Best Buy so buy with confidence.

I generally don't buy apple stuff, but this looks like a great deal. How "married" is this thing to itunes?

Itunes pretty much is your only interface to a PC. I've read that there are third party programs but haven't tried them since the only thing I do with my iPod is check emails and for music in the car. Apple has an iron grip on their products unless you plan to jailbreak. I like the freedom on my Android tablet alot better and it's limited a bit itself.

Is it difficult to do things like just put songs bought from amazon on it?

I used to use MediaMonkey instead of iTunes. You had to occasionally deal with Apple purposely mucking it up sometimes with iOS updates.

Beyond that, I never touched iTunes after the first time. Downloaded apps from the device itself and sync with Media Monkey.

At this point I'd go with a bad ESN Android phone instead unless you want the docking convenience of an iDevice (there's a lot of 3rd party docks/etc).

Isn't the 1st/2nd gen limited to like version 3 or 4?
You'll start to find that some apps won't install on them anymore cause you can't use the correct version on it.

I had a 1st gen 8gb I gave to my niece for that reason a lot of the apps I wanted to install wouldn't cause I couldn't update to the newest firmware.

Speaking of an Android device they have one of those too..

No more updates for these, they're EOL.
These can be used with the ZTE Peel though if you want to roll-your-own iPhone.

added to cart, said out of stock...then I went back and checked that I did want a warranty plan, and voiala, in stock. Then I unchecked the warranty and finalized order.

thanks OP!

That's what we did. Bad ESN Optimus V + 32GB MicroSD = WIN.

There's almost no such thing as an Optimus V with a bad ESN. Even phones reported lost or stolen with Virgin Mobile can be re-activated on a new account. Virgin Mobile wants to make money, lol. About the only time their ESNs are blacklisted is if they get stolen from a retail outlet or Sprint flags them for fraudulent activity.

It's definitely a great idea regardless - and the Opty V is a great little phone even when it's 'not a phone'.

From my research before buying it appears you are mistaken. OV ESNs can be bad for a variety or reasons. Regardless, if you add bad ESN to Ebay results with Optimus V, the price drops which was my goal.

What kind of stupid response is this?

Do other people put http://THEINTERNET in their Hot Deals threads? Get a fucking clue, and thank you to the OP for posting the link in his edit.

I don't see the problem. You asked for a link to the deal in question, he provided it. OP linked the exact same thing.

XacTactX, he linked to the website, which I inferred to mean I was too too lazy to go their website and look for the item myself. (If I was actually interested in a used iPod, I would've; I was just reminding the OP that he forgot to include a link to the Hot Deal he posted.)

Also, no, he did not link to the same thing the OP does. Hover over it; all the guy did was link to the main website. It'd be like you asking for a link to some Amazon deal and me going, "Sure. http://www.amazon.com herp derp"

Are you serious? This site sells one big ticket item per day, right on the homepage. Both links are equivalent. You would have known this if you had gotten off your high horse and actually clicked the link instead of acting like such a dingus.

To keep this thread slightly relevant, I thought this was a warm deal while it was on. It ain't fancy, but it gets the job done.

Thank you for saving my hands [strike=]of[/s] from carpal tunnel. Better you than me as they say. ;)

LOL the buck teeth are hilarious.

Who the hell pissed in your Wheaties? I was simply providing a link per your "request" in your post, if you implied I was thinking you were lazy, that's on you. No need to get sand in your vagina over it.

And BTW, plenty of threads where someone simply posts a link. I've been around here long enough.

just posting info on the 3 i got from older deals they had like this.

i got 2 for xmas that were 2nd gen 8gigs for 55 each. Both were grade 5s and had the back scratched up bad but nothing on fronts.

then i got a 16gb 2nd gen for 75 about a month ago. it was a grade 4. back 16gb is almost unreadable. the front has 4 major scratches that i can see with movies playing and in white apps. The kids dont mind but it bothers me.

Learn from XacTactX and not point out the obvious/be helpful. They get mad at you for doing that you know. Next thing you know they start assuming everyone lives in the basement of their parents' house, has no job and are just leeching off their folks :D
