I'm still on the fence about Max Payne 3. The tech demo video we posted last month (here) had me excited for the game but this new trailer is just kinda "meh." What do you guys think?

eh, it'll be a play it once and "shelf it when I'm doing playing" game like the last two. I may give it a go. Depends on price point.

Wait for Christmas and pick it up on Steam for half price.:D

a generous portion of mehloaf with a side mehpotatoes. But then again I've saying that since the first pictures with max in a Hawaiian shirt and a bald head. I haven't really seen "Max Payne" captured in any of this media.

It's Max Payne, and now there's three of them. What am I supposed to think besides "Who asked for another one?"

I never played any of them, and I don't expect that to change.

Wasn't a max payne benchmark build into 3dmark 2000 or something? I ran the shit out of that.

meh... CGI videos aren't real to me... I want to know what the game will look like... not what someone cooked up with CGI. Same as the Far Cry 3 trailers. I have seen some in game footage of Far Cry 3 though.

No, but the idea of it was used as a benchmark. Both Futuremark and Remedy were born out of the old demo group Future Crew. Max Payne's engine had been in developement for a few years earlier and the editor was licensed to Futuremark. So, perhaps that is where they cross over.

When is FC 3 supposed to release? That looks interesting.:D

To those of you who haven't played either MP1 or MP2, you are doing yourself a great disservice.

As far as the new trailer vs the last one: it's always exciting to hear about the technical details that go into a game, makes you feel like they are really putting something into it. This trailer covers more of the story. I think the voice acting sounded good, had some intrigue to it, a new setting, new factions/characters to interact with (as well as older old ones...)

Looks good, I don't think I'll buy it at release (since the trend of late has been $60 openings) but I'll definitely pick it up for $45 (what I consider a reasonable price for a new PC game).

Those weren't CGI videos, it says right at the end it was in game footage.

Rockstar is in my list of good. So the reality that I have created shows if anything this will be the game that does what so many did wrong, ignoring the fact its a franchise rehash. My delusions will be thick if or when this fails.

Max Payne made you care about the story, so far I don't care about this story. Bald headed badass in Brazil fights other bald headed badasses in Brazil. Is that a story now?

Is the point of this game seriously that you're shooting hundreds of people in the favela to find some rich guy's stupid trophy wife?

Wow, good job Rockstar. You found a story line where I hope I lose.

HAHA have you never played a Rockstar game? lol that is every Rockstar game

Wait, so first of all Markie Mark isn't in this. Second of all, it's a game about a guy getting max payne to get his wife back? And how much are they asking to pay for this?

Markie Mark wasn't in the previous two either, they actually sold quite well without his help, this one...eh, the previous games, it was Max avenging his wife and child's death, the second was the corruption of the police force and the Russian Mafia trying to pin him for some crazy crap.

This one he lost his police badge, moved from New York to Brazil, and is now a hired bodyguard/PI/security expert?

It's been consolefied, the previous two were great though.

I like your rating system. I think [H] should adopt that as a standard for all game reviews, maybe even make a listing section for all game reviews: "Consolefied" or "Real PC game"

Like with Hollywood, sick of the sequels and remakes, and really don't understand how people keep feeding into them instead of demanding the promotion of original (or at least "fresh" ffs) ideas.

I'm hoping for good things out of this. The first two games were awesome.

Please don't fuck this one up.

From the wiki:
This is the first game in the series not to be developed by Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment and not being written by series creator Sam Lake.

This is why my confidence is limited.

If the main character is a completely different guy why do they even call it Max Payne?

they should have left his appearance alone, WTF they thinking making him bald?

the first 2 Maxpaynes were epic, this new one looks like more of the same shiz as 5 other games with the same look

Besides the generic looking story the graphics are allready looking dated. A Max Payne game needs to push the graphics. Both one and two did this. I remember two being stunning when it first came out. First retail game using SM2.0 effects, and the first that I remember using Havok physics as well.

This new one looks fairly generic to me.

Makes him grittier, IMO. It kind of makes sense.

I'm not expecting a lot, but I'm excited Max Payne is back. I'll get it on its first sale on Steam.
