Wow, been out of the game for two years and I've forgotten it all!

Anyway, I have:

fa 0/0 192.168.5.1 /24
fa 2/0 10.10.10.2 /30

I have a laptop on my fa0/0 interface with 192.168.5.11 /24 and I want to be able to ping 10.10.10.2 interface on the router.

Let's say I can't copy and paste my config... what am I missing? NAT on fa 0/0?

Why would you need NAT?

Assuming ip routing was enabled and your host is using 5.1 as the default gateway it should work since the 3725 has routes to both networks (since they are connected).

Do you have a device connected on fa2/0? If you don't have a device connected, you can't ping that gateway address. A link state is only changed to up if there is a connection. No connection = down, even if it is configured properly.

Yeah, I totally forgot about that!!! Thanks. I fluked from my drop to the closet to the closet to the other drop and everything seems fine. Hopefully they configured correctly on their end and we'll be good to go. The only thing that I don't like is that I haven't properly tested my fibercard so I don't know if it's working correctly. Same goes with my fiber cable.. ugh! Need to order more parts.
