[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

which watercooler should i choose for my sg05? yhere is so many out there now. i want one with a quiet pump. usung my own noctua fan

I can recommend my H60 as quiet even at 100% load. But I've read good reviews about the Antec 620, on tests it's cooling better, and I believe it's also cheaper.

The tweezers I figured out, but don't have a rework station :p

Btw there seems to be something wrong between the right hand leg of C80 and the bottom right leg of the IC. Shouldn't those be nice and shiny?

Probably just some left over solder flux. Get in there with a little isopropyl alcohol and a small paint brush and see if it comes off.

Just a FYI to everyone that the new Sugo SG05 cases now have USB3 ports.

I buy a lot of these cases for my builds and my latest order came with a few boxes that say USB3.0 ready on them. I opened one up and saw that they now have the blue USB3 ports on the front.
Nice of Silverstone to upgrade this excellent case.

Just thought you guys might want to see this. I know I did all of my "will X video card fit" research in this thread. My V1.0 PSU started chirping with a GTX 570 so its in the process of RMA. This is the Powercolor 7950, The plastic shroud of the card hits the front but it does fit and the front cover will go on. Take note that you will probably have to remove everything but the mobo/cpu to install this card.

^ thats a nice tight fit...............just the way I like em :D

Oh and an HD7950 in a m-itx is just 'kin INSANE power for such a small package

that's is cool. I'll probably wait until it drops in price before I upgrade though. Nice to know that this model will fit.

LOL, when my girlfriend sees this you are dead meat. I'm already in the dog house for ordering a 512GB Crucial M4 (hey, I want my Steam games to load fast, right?) and now i'm going to have to get me one of these Powercolor HD7950s.

:D

What's odd is that Powercolor reckon that card is 275mm long. That can't be right then as i'm pretty sure the SG05/06 is limited to somewhere around 260-265mm?

Just built my folks a new system in the SG-05 and it looks great. The USB 3.0 is a nice touch....unfortunately the board I bought them didn't have internal headers.

Pictures don't do it justice; it's tiny.

Does anyone know if i can remove the odd bracket and the included hdd bracket and install some sort of 3x3.5" hdd bracket in its place?

Yes you can remove the optical drive bracket. But if you're asking: is there a 3x3.5" drive cage available to buy, then no there isn't.

There's nothing stopping you from buying a sheet of modders mesh and making your own. You might have some space issues if you want a GPU as well.

Whhaaaaaaat? Is that the fit WITHOUT modding (cutting out) the front aluminum?

I'm in the market for a new desktop computer and was thinking about an SG05 with a smaller 6xxx card in it but if a 7950 is gonna fit, without cutting the case no less, I'm sold!

Question to you though. If I'm gonna go with a 7950 I was wanting to go with an XFX and, if possible, one with a dual fan. Does the shroud of the Powercolor stick out a bit from the PCB? I ask because the dual fan XFX models seem to go a bit beyond the PCB:

Earlier today and last night I went back through this entire thread. A walk back through time over the last 2-3 years. It was nice to be reminded that people have modded a Corsair HX620w psu into this little box. How one modder istalled a handle ontop of the case and how another installed the rad of a H50 to the underside of the top of the case and made some holes so it could pull fresh air in. Those just to name a few of the many things done to this little black box. Long read but a good one. :)

Here is my build using this small and excellent case, I have modified it using a lot of ideas in this thread and looking at HaxEJxuKs build.

System specs:
Gigabyte H55N-USB3
Intel i5 760
Corsair 4 GB CL9 1333MHz DDR3
EVGA GTX 570
Intel 510 250 GB SSD
Antec Kuhler H20 620 (Push configuration)
Corsair HX 650W

Other parts used:
Lian Li PE-01 Power Supply Extension Bracket
Scythe Slip Stream 1200RPM 120mm Slim Case Fan

I have mounted a Antec Kuhler 620 on the top of the case (exhausting hot air out using the fan that came with the water cooler) and used a slim scythe fan in the front of the case as a intake fan.

It was a close fit to the ATX PSU and the GTX 570 I fitted in the case as well, but it was sure worth it ;).

Here is some pictures:

I need to change the power button, its not the best thing Silverstone made :(.

I'm curious if anyone else has done a fan mod like Xfinity did here. The idea of keeping a front intake fan appeals to me while still being able to use a hydro unit like Antec's. I remember one person placing the rad on top of the outside as one possible alternative.

hi there! i have been planning to get a gtx680 for my sugo sg06 450w.
At first i had knew that max gpu length case permits is 9.5 inches. But i noticed that 10 inches gpu's barely fit, so i decided to take a shot with 10" gtx680. Lately i saw the power requirements of 680 which is min 550W with 38A on 12V rail. According to the tech sheet, my ST45SF can handle only 450W with 36A on 12V. Yet gtx470 (of which power requirements are exactly same with gtx680) is listed as supported gpu for officially at silvestonetech.com!
So i am a little bit confused here. Should i go with gtx680 or not?

You'll be more than fine. The 550W "minimum" thrown out by card manufacturers is there as a safety blanket so that the card will run on mediocre generic PSU's. The 450W in the SG05 is a quality unit and will have no problem supplying the needed amperage for the card. The thing to watch out for would be not overclock your CPU through the roof as well, but even then you shouldn't 400W.

Thanks. I'm running auto fan (Stock settings) and I can't seem to break 67C when running Heaven, 3DMark11, or eVGA OC Scanner. Keep in mind I'm running 1680x1050 until my Dell U2412M gets here and I probably won't be overclocking the 680 too much until I upgrade to Z77/IB :)

Edit: 63C is as hot as it gets with the fan at 70%

Here's my system. It doesn't have the highest performing video card (only an ASUS HD 7870), but hopefully it helps someone else out trying to figure the amount space available.

Hey MissJ84, Does the length of the card have any effect on the fan in the front of the case? I'm wondering if you can still fit a 120mm fan in the front with the 680. Could you take a pic of it? Thanks!

Yeah, unfortunately I had to take out my TY-140 for intake, but I have a second Slipstream PWM fan and it fits. Keep in mind, my 680 has the backplate, creating less room, and I'm able to slide a piece of paper in between the card and fan. I haven't tried more than that lol. Here's a photo without the fan and I'll get one with it sometime tomorrow. The photo is alittle misleading imo in relation to the top fan hole. The bottom looks more hmm accurate :p

Edit: I took some more and again keep in mind this is with the backplate. It looks tight, but as mentioned above, I can fit a sheet of paper all the way down. I applied no force to get the fan on and obviously you'd have even more room without the backplate :)

Is that a 120mm fan? So you had a 140mm fan in there at first but had to switch it out to make room for the 680 so with the 680 it only fits 120mm?

MissJ84, did you have to cut the front for it to fit, or it fit without any modding?
No modding, it's shorter than the case. I took out the psu, top tray, and front fan. I then slid the front of the card through the front fan hole from the inside, so the front of the card was sticking out the front of the case, and then slid it backwards while flipping it over the Samuel 17. I did also have to take the slip stream off the heatsink, but after it was in, reassembling wasn't a problem. Just make sure you screw the card in before reassembly :)

Yes it's a 120mm fan. The TY-140 has 120mm holes but is ~150mm in one direction, ~140mm in the other and won't fit with a card longer than ~9".

Edit: Silly Swype :p

Thanks for the clarification. How are you liking the Samuel 17? I'm trying to look at what cpu coolers actually fit inside this case.

Ehhh its okay, but all of the air coolers that can fit are "okay". I have a non K 2500 and hit mid 50s under load and I'm very happy because it's silent. After I upgrade to Z77/unlocked IB, I'll decide if I want to keep the SG05, switch to the FT03 mini, which will have the same cooler limitations, or go with the BitFenix Prodigy that can house just about any cooler.

Hi guys, my build; Asus P8H67-I Deluxe B3, I5 2500K, 8GB Corsair Vengeance SO-DIMM 1600MHz running at 1333MHz, 256GB Crucial M4 SSD, MSI N560GTX-448 Twin Frozr III, and 27" 1920x1080 (Mini-HDMI).

Quick question; I am going to purchase another 27" monitor (2560x1440), and run it through DVI-D. What sort of impact will this have on the 450PSU? I plan to game on the new monitor, while running movies off the old 1920x1080.

Thanks!

Went to pick up my SG07B-W today, brought it home and opened it and it was a SGO7B with no W, whereas the packaging said it was the one with the W... SO MAD BRO!

Now if they could just build a 500w sfx psu of good quality and stick it in the SG05. <g>
