Network pics thread

I'm starting to regret leaving so much freaking hanging around, but it's all coming together more and more. Still need to get some velcro over there and do cleanup

And the almost final result, with switches mounted:

Sorry for the terrible photos.. Got an iPad for work and testing out the camera.

Why the huge gaps and long patch cables? Would look much nicer if you did patch panel - switch - patch panel - switch.

Wow, that looks terrible. I can't believe you didn't at least tie stuff off to the side. You're getting lazy in your old age..... :p

Is this all connected via wireless connection by wisp or to your other office? if its done by wisp what package did you get and how much are you paying?

Even with cable management in between I think it still looks kinda bad. Patch Panel and then switch right below with 1 foot patch cables looks so much nicer than that IMO. Easier to troubleshoot too. Our racks at work are horrendous... the contractors who wired them did an amazing job, but the guys before me patch them into switches HORRIBLY. I'll take pics sometime.

Where I used to work, all patching was done with >6 foot cables. Basically whatever random patch cord that could be found. You can imagine the mess that was. I wish I could have taken pics.

That's what the guys did up at our main hospital. The wiring to the back of the patch panels is absolutely perfect, every cable is labelled and cut to the perfect length, they are all even ran parallel in the bundle coming off of the cable tray. Then the front of them has 6 and 10 foot patch cables patching things in. Looks horrible. The building isn't even 5 years old. If they would've just taken care of it from the start...

Can anyone give me a rough cost on replacing the batteries on my new 3000VA IBM/APC UPS?

Probably a couple grand if you go through APC, which is insane.

Probably under 100 bucks if you get a similar generic battery. In fact I'd even try to get higher AH if you can.

There is a wireless connection on the other building. There is no Wireless WISP. Proxim QB-8100.

I looked at it after I left and posted up pictures and I don't like it either. I'm going to pull it out tomorrow and work on it again. The problem that I have is that there will only ever be 1 switch over there.. the bottom 48 port switch will be used for DR purposes over there since the basement is encased in cement.

No guy wires on the antenna mast?
Does the wind ever blow there?

We will be tieing it down soon. These were just some pictures to get up

I don't know about lazy. left my velcro back in my office is probably more like it. It works I know so the clean up process starts tomorrow. It's driving me nuts just to look at it online

little bit more invo needed ie like model etc etc ?

It's an IBM 3000XRL2U, I'm having issues finding information on it like battery model number. I'll check for p/n's when I'm at work, it's still sitting in our storage closet at work until I can get a truck to haul it all home.

tear it open, bring the battery to a local batteries plus and tell them how many u need.

For UPS batteries I've had very good luck with the ones I've purchase from RefurbUPS.com.
Good prices as well.

I agree, it also gives you back alot of other wise wasted space with those cable covers.

Patch -- Switch -- Patch -- Switch works great if you'll have more than one switch.. Odds are I'll never have to repatch anything again or add more. 4 ports on the wall.. 6 in some other places. I'll probably never add another switch either
