Remember Simtower?

?????

SC4 still has an active dev community. So what it EA dumped it. DLC slaves. If SC4 is a flop, I would love to know what you think a failure is.

I suppose I'd say it was relative to the other SimCity games. I get how the Sims stole a lot of SC's thunder so SC4 had a tough run, but I dunno. To me part 4 just wasn't as entertaining as 1-3. Even the music wasn't as fun.

Found a cool paper, brief history of the series, by some Stanford student. Its nothign amazing, but a decent 15 min read :

SC4+RH is still pretty neat if you get some of the 'essential' mods that add some neat infrastructure pieces and options. It still doesn't seem anywhere near as difficult, most likely because tax income is monthly as opposed to yearly like in older SimCities.

I'm pretty sure SC3K was monthly too. I thought SC4 was tough as hell, I dunno.

SC4 is way too easy, and with Rush Hour installed it's just a joke.
The best was SimCity 2000 Network Edition. Multiplayer SimCity. I still have it on CD somewhere, I think.

I got Sim Tower as a Christmas present one year and thought 'What the heck is this?' thinking it would be crap. How wrong I was, it's an awesome game.

Sim Copter dropping cripples into fires and cutting people with rotor blades were excellent childhood memories

Couldn't you also drop people to cripple them and then get points by taking them to the hospital?

I have an XP virtual pc specifically for Sim City 2000 and Castle of the Winds. I probably play Sim City 2000 at least twice a month, usually for embarrasingly long amounts of time. Sooner or later I'm going to also install Red Alert and lose a few days lol

I loved simcopter as well, never played simtower, it looked too weird..

Cool.I still play Sim Tower in a Win XP VM. The clock runs so fast that by the time I build a row of offices 2 years have gone by. lol

Sim Tower, Sim City, Sim Copter, Streets of Sim City... ahh those were great games. I remember I had a pack with a bunch of the Sim games, think it was a Christmas present. Those are the ones I remember the most.

I mostly played Streets of Sim City, Sim Copter, and used Sim City 2000 to create the cities to play those games in. There were a few Easter eggs. My favorite was if you put a certain decorative plane in Sim City 2000 on tarmac, in Sim Copter it was a military chopper you could actually land and go in it and start shooting people.

I loved the editor for Sim City 2- I custom painted a lot of the buildings to make them look how I wanted.

SC2K, SimCopter, and Streets were the shit! I remember playing those so much my parents were starting to get worried about my performance in school.

You're thinking of that fighter jet tile that would become an Apache helicopter in SimCopter. It was easiest to open up SCURK and plop that tile in the city you were flying in, though sometimes it would automatically generate if you had a military base in your city. Typing the "I'm the CEO of McDonnell Douglas" cheat and pressing 3 in the catalog would also grant you the same chopper.

Streets was fun, though very crash-prone. I've heard that using a glide wrapper alleviates that problem but I haven't had the chance to validate that claim.

You could, but you either had to dump them at low altitudes or on a patch of grass, else they would die. Doctors would somehow make it out unscathed if you threw them out over the latter.

There was also some weird glitch or egg where you could pick up a sim with the water bucket. The random gurgling noises your copter would make were both startling and hilarious.

Wow, what a terrible kid I was ... I would lower people in the bucket into fires.

Yep, played sim tower ... on my Pentium 2, 350Mhz PC. AOL/56k era lol.... one of my first PC games.... It was fun, but as the guy pointed out above.. the tower would bug out and you couldn't add on more stuff when you got higher levels. The elevators would get buggy too... fun game though for its time.

it's all about Train Simulator 2012 now, Cho Cho!

I constantly see this game advertised, and every 3 years or so I'll get the new train game to just see wtf its all about: wtf, driving a train cannot be that fun right?

well, turns out those games REALLY suck.

They could sell a shit ton more copies if they added these 2 easy things:

1) Damage and ability to crash train REALISTICALLY
2) Traffic going across roads, to enable more realism, more fun and strategy, and of course... so you can wreck into them.

Add those 2 things, and you could easily double the sales.

PS: MIAMIIIIIIII!

If you think driving a train is lame, you should try one of those city bus driving simulators.

Thought that I was the only person to ever really play this game. Never could quite figure it out, but I did have a ton of fun, still!

It was easy :p

You had to start a nest with your queen ant, fight off spiders and enemy ants and keep building larger and larger colonies while giving your queen little green dots of food. I believe the object was to get your nest into the house (eventually). You also had to dodge sprinklers and lawn mowers lol

I loved SimAnt but it's a really obscure game. I fire it up in DOSbox every once in a while, but it's a little long in the tooth. I'd love to see a mobile phone/tablet port.

Has anyone managed to find a fix for the 'conditions are terrible' problem? It is really annoying to have to go through hundreds of apartments every couple of days and lower their prices and then raise them again. Is there a patch out there that fixes this problem? Honestly I have done everything to provide good conditions but this keeps happening every couple of 'days.' There must be fix for this problem out there...?

Dude, I would kill for a new sim tower. When I was like 8-9 years old, my friend and I used to build forts and play sim tower. We'd go in the fort at night when our tower was asleep and wait for the morning to further conduct business. Fuck, I miss being a kid.
