Gaming moments you want back..best of the best..

Dark Forces: When I got to shoot Stormtroopers to death for the first time I smiled ear to ear.

Ocarina of Time: Stepping out into Hyrule and feeling like the world was genuinely huge. Freaking out when night fell and skeletons rose from the earth constantly.

World of Warcraft: Creating my dwarf warrior and exploring the starting zones. Entering Ironforge was my biggest "holy shit" moment in gaming. Exploring the rest of the world, including well known places from previous Warcraft games was very cool. Lots of nostalgia especially from WC2. I regret my time spent on WoW, mainly because I overdid it on the raiding thing for a while, but the reality is that the vanilla version is still the best game I feel I've ever played. Killing Onyxia, Ragnaros, and Nefarian (amongst many other lesser bosses) were such adrenaline filled nights.

Half-Life: When the soldiers waste scientists and you realize they're not here to save you.

For me, the number one moment is probably killing Ragnaros for the first time in WoW. After weeks of attempts, I can still remember the adrenaline rush when he was at around 5% HP and everyone knew we finally had it. People started getting giddy and screaming....the raid leader was yelling over vent for everyone to chill and finish the fight...I was personally hitting my keys harder and faster because that obviously made me heal better (lol). When he finally died and the his hammer went end over end into the lava, I was absolutely ecstatic. I can still picture it today. I played WoW for nearly 7 years, several of them spent in a top raiding guild, and nothing I ever did after that was quite the same experience as Ragnaros.

Damn, I thought this looked familiar. Good thing I'm a moderator here....:D

Shazam! Threads combined. :)

All I can say to this is: Ditto.

Another that stuck out to me was the beginning of Persona 3. I had just moved into a new area and didn't know anyone around so the atmosphere of the beginning paralleled my situation exactly and it seemed to pick up at the same time I started getting accustomed to the area. Was just weird thinking how they matched.

You guys got any moments or nostalgia trips you care to share?

I have persona 3 and what you said made no sense to me...is it just me or does this not make sense?

That moment when I started up a game and it didn't request that I download an update or loop a loading screen suggesting DLC I might be missing out on.

Thought of another one.

The first time I played Grand Theft Auto 3 on the PS2. There was so much freedom I just didn't know what to do. I ran around carjacking and shooting things in such awe of what Rockstar had presented before me. It was one of those moments in my personal video gaming history that was eye opening to me in regards to how one company had really taken the next leap in gaming.

Similar to what others are saying about WoW but I think that experience of feeling dwarved by a huge new world is something that is going to happen to anyone that starts their first MMO or Elder Scrolls-esque RPG. For me it was FFXI, I remember getting outside the starting zones and just being completely lost, terrified because monsters that could kill me were everywhere, and some random stranger kindly guided me to a harbor town. I will never forget that experience.

You're killing me! <3

My favorite moments in gaming:
1. Setting up lan matches of C&C and Descent

2. The first 2 months of playing CS. I learned to play and continued to play on a laptop (5 to 10 fps). Then I built my first computer with a real video card (100fps). My K/D ratio went from 1/10 to 6/10. Then I found out the server was full of cheaters and I may have been the only non-cheater regular on it. (The rl friend that told me wrote hacks for CS and this was "his testing server"...almost everyone on it were testing hacks.) Went to another server, my K/D went to 10/1. The realization I didn't actually suck was awesome!

3. In WoW, farming for Crusaders enchant and talking over vent with people in New Zealand and Australia for hours.

Any two player console game that i played with my brother when we were little. 30 and 35 now, stupid kids.

Going 30-0 in serious sam just about every day.

MOH:AA, walking around like a line of penguins at the beginning of the cemetary map as ally

BF2: Stat padding with a buddy on vent. One of us would get a support pack and one would get a medic kit. we'd single out some unlucky guy and keep killing/reviving him. I have never laughed so hard in my life. CLEAR, fap fap fap, clear!, fap fap fap... once in a while a guy would get up long enough to hop around and go wtf before he got capped again. Pretty sure i peed my pants laughing a few times.

One of my favorite WoW memories was more of a teamspeak memory..... listening to a guildie drunkenly belt out "Hit me baby one more time" for 50g.... and recording it. Well I didn't record it but someone did. We were running ZG... man, good times.

Oh god, I did that too. I know exactly the area you're talking about, with all the Scarlet Crusaders around. I farmed that for probably 2 days before that stupid enchant dropped.

Looks like a lot of people have similar fond memories of WoW. I couldn't stand ZG!

Playing Nocturne of Shadow on Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the first time.

Shit, every moment of Xenogears.

Hitman 1: Using the garrotte wire to choke out an opponent was priceless.

Winning my first deathmatch game was awesome, I was bouncing off the walls after that....

Dont forget about the "stake gun" from painkiller. Come on now, tell me that isnt one of the best FPS weapons ever.

Going to go OG (original gamer) on yo azz...

Final boss fight in Bruce Lee on C64
Morbid and lonesome atmosphere in Wizards and Warriors
Awesome variance of gameplay in Golgo 13
Music and atmosphere in Castlevania IV
Last level/finale in Gabriel Knight: SOF
Wreaking absolute havoc with the musket and getting laid in Scara Brae in Ultima VII
Doom on Sega Genesis 32x

Bunch of new moments to list, but those are the ones I remember from when I was a little shit.

so many...

Civ1 on my Snes, played the same game for so long I crashed the system.
Goldeneye, my first real FPS, still one of the best
Half-Life, then CS Beta, those were the days :)

Most epic gaming moment of my life
*****
First time I opened the Butcher door in Diablo
****
/End of most epic gaming moment of my life

Cinematics in Diablo 2
My summer ruined by Starcraft

My first WoW raid with 40 people, the anarchy in vent, the complete euphoria we had when we finally killed Rag. Played AB/WSG with my friends

The expectation leading to Crysis, sure it was good and the GFX was awesome but I was expecting to be blown away and I wasn't, but the ride there was awesome.

Ohhhh
In the first Unreal, you're in some hallway and the light simply starts closing, you try to run the other way but the lights are also closing. Then there's that crazy battle in the dark.

The more I think about it, the less "epic" games are :(

SNES - Playing Street Fighter II for I-never-want-to-know-how-many-hours
N64 - Playing the Battle of Hoth with speakers blaring in Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
PS2 - Shadow of the Colossus ending and finally figuring out how TF to beat the colossi
PC - WoW raid sessions......... jesus.... the memories
PS3 - Fighting thousands of enemies at one time in Heavenly Sword shortly after PS3 launched
Various platforms - RPGs like FF6,7,10 Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, so....many....hours

c64 playing the bard's tale. If you havent ever played this game back in '85 you are too young to know real nostalgia.

also playing planescape torment. Trying to play a game where death wasnt a bad thing was hard to do.

I could never get that to work with Windows 3.1 on our 386 system. :( That and Heroes of Might and Magic...error after error after error.
