help choosing monitor

My vid card is a XFX 6950. I'm in the market for a 120hz monitor and need some help between 2 choices I have narrowed it down to. I use my monitor for games such as wow and other rpg so input lag shouldn't be a big concern for me. The choices I have are:

Samsung S23A700 for $300 at Tigerdirect or

PLANAR SA2311W $280 also from tigerdirect


Is one really better then the other ? Thanks for the help in advance.

Spec wise, it looks like a crap shoot. I can find next to nothing on the Sammy, but the Planar is rated well most places and uses the NVIDIA 3D Vision that has good support. Don't know how this works with an AMD chip so it may be unusable.

I'd get whichever has the better MEASURED (not quoted in the spec sheet) contrast ratio. You will notice better blacks/whites moreso than a lot of other things.

Check if any big-box retailers near you stock those and check them out in person. TigerDirect's stores often have lots of stuff out on display. Just ask the sales guy to exit the demo thing and try looking at some images or browsing the net.

.They will be very similar performance wise (both use samsung panels) but there is no point buying the planar since you can't use nvidia 3d with amd cards and the samsung comes with 3d glasses+has a glossy screen.
