Hello

Been a while since I was on here. I used to know how to build a budget PC in 5 min, but this was when 512 mb on a graphics card ram and 4 gb DDR Ram was alot. PCI Express had just came out. Things have changed quite a bit since I took my eyes off hardware..

Anyway, my cousin recently asked me to build him a computer in his $600 budget (give or take) that would play the new Star Wars MMO well. He's currently running it on a laptop with a basic ATi graphic card so I think almost anything will give him a significant boost.

He doesn't need a monitor. I used to do this for fun, I just have no idea about the new video cards they are ridiculously faster than they used to be when SLI was a novel idea.

Thanks!

If you can take a minute and answer the stickied questions here (you can just edit your original post if you want), we can give better recommendations.

Make sure to specify if you need an OS, mouse, keyboard, and speakers in that budget or not, as that'll significantly affect your build.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

Playing the new Star Wars MMO and hopefully some future games

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

Budget ideally is $600, can bump a bit. S&H flexible...

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

US - Connecticut (Tri-state)
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

GPU, CPU, RAM, Case, Hard Drive, MoBo, Power

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

Hopefully a higher wattage to support more expensive Graphics card in future

6) Will you be overclocking?

No

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?

30" - 1920×1080 (standard, I guess 1600 would be fine)

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

Month or so
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? etc.

Need to be able to play the game smoothly. 60FPS with decent settings (a bit higher than medium)

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

Will have Windows 7

Thanks Again

Are you really using a 1920x1080 resolution on a 30 inch monitor? What brand and model (number) is it?

"Will have Windows 7"? Do you have a copy right now?

Do you have existing keyboard, mouse, and speakers to use? They aren't listed in either reusable or needed.

Honestly I'm not around him or the monitor to know what the exact resolution is. I'm in Boston, he's in CT. I know its a Samsung 1080 HD TV w/ DVI input.

He should be all set with mouse, keyboard and speakers. His household already has a Win 7 disc.
