Aaaaggghhhh!!! We are all going to die!!! Scientists say we are going to turn into irradiated zombies...or super heroes....or all of the above.

The sun is bombarding Earth with radiation from the biggest solar storm in more than six years with more to come from the fast-moving eruption. The solar flare occurred at about 11 p.m. EST Sunday and will hit Earth with three different effects at three different times. The biggest issue is radiation, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center in Colorado.

The Sun has an 11-year cycle and a 22-year cycle, so saying it's the strongest since 2005 is pretty meaningless.

In fact, we are in the time window for its 11-year peak.

Yes, it caused some power outages and loss of satellite communincation. The same may happen again. But the problems from storms of this magnitude are fairly predictable and have some countermeasures that can be performed. Stronger storms, or consecutive storms like the ones we should be seeing on the 11 year cycle will be more of a problem.

That said, it isn't likely to be anything earth shattering. There have been big events in the past like in 1958, and we have gotten on just fine.

The flare occurred Sunday, but the noticeable affects to the Earth weren't expected to happen until today.
 
You remember in 2005 when everyone died and all the computers got set on fire and 99% of earths popultion died from zip disk fumes? Well thats because there was a huge goverment coverup and 99% of people are machines.

Which explains how CoD and Jersey shore are so popular. Damn you big media controlled robots! Damn you! We are the real 1%!
 
One of my co-workers thinks that the solar activity is causing his hearing aids to not work right. But he is known to blow hot air.

Talk about sensationalism: Headlines read "HUGE SOLAR STORM POUNDING EARTH". Quotes within the articles by scientists say, "It's a minor to moderate storm,". They go on to say that perhaps people at really high altitudes will see auroras and there's a small chance of communications errors for people deep in the polar caps. LMAO @ journalism.

This solar storm is not an issue. Like, at all.
