So I just came back from a garage sale I manage to score some motherboards real cheap ($70).

Two are ASUS socket 1155 boards and one is a Gigabyte socket 1336 board.

However all three of them have some bent pin issue. One asus board has one slight bent pin and the other ASUS has a few more not so bad.

The Gigabyte pins are pretty bang up.

I am wondering what happens when you RMA an Intel board with bent pins. I never bent a pin on an Intel board so I never had to worry when RMA time came around.

Does ASUS or Gigabyte charge a fee to fix it or will they flat out deny any repair?

Bent pins usually fall under physical abuse and would not qualify for free replacement.

Dunno if you could pay them to fix it, so you should email/chat with a CSR and ask

Really depends on the severity of the damage.

Some damage falls into unintentional damage in which case they sometimes will attempt to repair the damage. However, some manufacturers will state that when it falls into a repair only case, if they can't fix it they will not replace it.

Really just depends on the manufacturer's policies and the mood/workloud of the person who receives the item.

If its not working, call them (not sure you can call gigabyte - I never see their numbers advertised) and talk to them. You have nothing to lose. Its not uncommon for a couple pins to get bent, but when you have gouges and other things in the CPU socket or other damages that are clearly negligence, thats when you need consider just biting the bullet.

Ahh, here is gigabyte: +1-626-854-9338

Good Luck dude, I RMAd an Intel board twice 2.5 years into warranty with no problems once it just stopped working and they replaced it, another time I shorted the board out switching Vid cards with power on, PC modding and Fosters Lager in oil cans don't mix!:) But even then they replaced it with me having to just pay return shipping, but they inspect the boards and any physical damage like broken caps or cut mold lines, they wont accept, I think bent pins are also in that category. Contact them first... A great deal if you can get them working...
