So, I've recently started playing a lot more on my PC and I've come to realize that my MX518 is a bit too small for my hands. From middle finger to wrist is 9", from the side to side near knuckles going on 4". Anyhow, googling has yielded some candidates, such as the NAOS 5000, Sidewinder, Rat7, G9x, and others. I bought the NAOS 5000 and I'm returning it. Next up on my list was the DeathAdder, which a lot of people seem to like, but I was also looking at the G500 as well. Also, people seem to recommend the Black Edition of the DeathAdder, I'm curious why. All I've found so far in terms of difference is the BE has rubberized grip. Some input on either one would be appreciated, or other options which I'm unaware of.

I would look into the Logitech G400 & Microsoft Sidewinder X5, there both cheap and are excellent choices for big hands, I'm using a deathadder and I find it a little small for my hands and I don't have freakishly big hands

X5 is bigger than Ikari.
X5 is really big(biggest I have ever used) but the sensor need to be used in hard surface to get 100% performane.

The BE Deathadder has plastic on top and rubber on the sides. The original Deathadder has rubber on the body and plastic on the sides (we have one of each at work; I prefer the original but a mate prefers the BE). The original also has a glowing Razer logo, the BE does not.

That said I'd recommend the Razer Mamba for bigger paws, which is what I use at home (I have big-ish but not huge hands).

Another thing you could try is training yourself to use a claw-grip (rather than palm-grip) which might reduce the required surface area of the mouse.

X5 or Ikari Laser.

You'll go through 3 death adders before the above two start to show any sign of wear.

The Ikari looks really nice, and I'd try it, except the specs show the dimensions as nearly the same as my current MX518. Also, it's my understandin that the g400 is simply an updated MX518. Did they increase the size of it when they updated it with the G400? Dimensions of the MX518, according to info on the web, and my measurements are 127x67x44(mm) whereas the Ikari is 124x60x38. As to the IME 3.0 a 400dpi mouse for shooters really isn't worth considering imo, let alone not having on the fly dpi switching.

The Adder seems to have been around a long time, are you sure your info isn't out of date, that they haven't fixed the issue or quality control which lead to failures? Also, how quickly have you found that they fail?

IMO Deathadders are pretty sturdy, though I have heard a couple of accounts of scroll wheel failure on the newer 3.5G (don't know about Black Edition though.) I would have to agree with the Ikari or Sidewinder, both are definitely in the large mouse category. Are you having issues with your fingers reaching beyond the buttons or are you looking for a wider mouse?

With the MX518 my fingers don't really overreach, except for my middle finger, and it just hangs ~5mm past the button surface so that's not a big deal. I suppose it really is about how wide it is that is leading to the discomfort which presents itself in the ringer finger and pinky, near the knuckles. The NAOS 5000 was confortable but wasn't wide enough. I'm sorry I didn't give this information out initially, it slipped my mind.

Well I can only assume you're a palm grip user/gamer with your fingers laying flat along the length of the buttons so this may not be what you're looking for..however I recently got a CMStorm Xornet (Spawn is the same shape) and while it's not what I would typically use (it's short a wide) it's amazingly comfortable. The ring finger rest is perfect and the pinky grips along a nice thick rubber pad on the side of the mouse. There is a corresponding pad on the other side for your thumb. The ring/pinky finger contours on the Ikari are simlar however there is more of a slope for your pinky on the Ikari which I find a bit uncomfortable, whereas on the Xornet/Spawn it's a flat surface/side of the mouse. When I orderd my Xornet it was ~$27 shipped from amazon, and I think the Spawn is about $10-15 more. I've never returned anything to Amazon but I believe they have great customer service and return policies, should you want to give the mouse a shot.

if your palm is wide I just can recommend sindewinder X5
this mouse is high and large. much bigger than ikari or G400/MX518/G500 series.
it will fill your palm well with its huge ass

I have about the same size hands and I use a g500 which is the same size as the mx518, it's all about how you hold your mouse and what is comfortable to you, if you can find somewhere where you can actually get your hands on it that would help

It is looking like the X5 is the way to go. 77mm wide, 129mm long. Largest mouse I've seen so far. I kept skipping past it, dismissing it, because of how ugly it is lol. So far it seems it's either the Adder or the X5.

I was holding it in a way that wasn't very comfortable. I would let my pinky drag, instead of tucking it in. It allowed for better precision while sniping imo. It's better, but still feels too small. What I wouldn't give though, for a NAOS that fit my hand right.

I agree. I have largish hands too (about 8" from middle finger to wrist...is that some kind of standard measurement?) and I've found almost no correlation between the size of the mouse and comfort over the years. I currently have a g500, which is a good solid mouse, but I find that the the hump is too big for me, such that the heel of my hand tends to slide down off the back, leaving my fingertips too high up on the buttons. It is a very long mouse though, so I think for longer fingers it might be a good candidate.

not only the size is big
but also X5 is designed with high and large back which will fill your palm well.

I got a rather large mitt, but amazingly have no issues with a Rat 7 mouse....

A X5 isnt bad either

Okay, so I just unboxed and tried out the X5 and Adder. The Adder isn't big, it's not even as big as the MX518. The specs say it is, but Idk how they measured it. The base measures 110mm, and the base of the mx518 is 128. Maybe they measured based on how the mouse buttons overhang, but regardless the end of my palm was hanging off and dragging on the mat, a problem I don't have with the MX518. The quality of the Adder was nice, I would've loved for that to work out.

The X5 fits quite well, a bit awkward but I could adjust. Unfortunately the build quality is terrible. The lclick activates with the slighty amount of pressure, while the rlick is normal. Even worse is that the pads aren't level. The weight of your hand puts pressure on the back, then when you click it 'rocks' forward. Maybe it's completely defective, idk. So far I'm not impressed and can see why it's so cheap.

Doing a bit more research the SteelSeries Ikari seems to have information about the dimensions which conflict with each other.

http://steelseries.com/products/mice/steelseries-ikari-laser

http://steelseries.com/products/mice/steelseries-ikari-optical

Amazon showed dimensions which match to the 4.9x2.7x1.5(in) of the laser, yet the diagram show's a completely different measurement, and that same diagram is used in the optical even though it has different dimensions from the laser. I'll contact their support, but I'm wondering if anyone with either of these mice could say which measurement is accurate.

so don't judge the size of a mouse by its measurement, it can only be the reference.

for the X5, the micro switch is panasonic and that is pretty soft.

the pad is not level because some of the screw is too tight and some are not. that is a common problem with microsoft mouse.
you can just unscrew some of them a little bit and the pad will be level.
and then you can put the mouse on a hard surface and push it down to the desk hard and slow.
then all the round foot will be in the same plan

for the ikari I have to say this is a rather comfortable mouse, much more comfortable than X5
but it feels much smaller than X5 because it is much lower and can not fill your palm
my hand is 20cm and I found the ikari is a little bit small and X5 is all the way fit my hand.

you have such a big hand as 22cm and in my opinion there is not a single mouse that is designed perfectly for such a big hand.
actually I do think that even X5 is a littile bit small for your hand if you are used to "lie" your hand on mouse

I just can recommend that you should have a chance to grip the real ikari and X5 mouse and feel the size your self

Saw this post, and had to go grab an old tailor's tape measure out of curiosity (I've always had trouble finding larger mice, too). Middle finger to wrist is actually a bit over 9", though my hand isn't quite as wide.

Anyway, it doesn't surprise me in the least not to have seen the CM Storm Sentinel mentioned. Back when I was buying a new mouse last year I had a hard time choosing as well, and it was hard to find much info about this one other than a few complaints of its size (too big, yay!) and some nonsense about lifting it off your surface and it having issues with it (never, ever been an issue for me and I lift it occasionally but only 1/4"-1/2"). Mostly just a completely underrated and overlooked mouse, IMO. I love it, though. Best fit for my hand since the earlier models of the old Intellimouse Explorers I'd run through (still miss the very first ones they put out). Should give it a look, though. Build quality feels great, has weights (I only added a couple; it felt very substantial even without), and a nice matte finish that has that soft feel to it that still hasn't worn off over a year later.

Looking around at CM's products, they also have a Z3RO-G version that has the identical build.

Worth noting that I got mine for about $45-50 through buy.com on sale iirc. Anyway, good luck with the hunt! Will be interested to see what you settle on.

o_O 135x83x40mm. YAS. I will definitely be trying this out. Thank You Sir!

Is the CM online store prretty much the only place to find a Storm Sentinel Advance

Actually it seems they no longer hold it. Discontinued at Newegg, only one vendor at AZ, which is overpriced. The Zero-G seems to have been it's replacement, but it has some issues which make me hesitant to buy. I'll buy another X5, see if that's Lclick isn't ridiculously soft, then the Ikari(if I ever find out if the laser's body is actually as big as that diagram), and if all else fails, I'll deal with the failings of the Zero-G.

Have you considered alternative input devices? My hands are also large and I use a Kensington trackball.

So I couldn't just accept that these were sold out EVERYWHERE.

Finally found a place. No clue about the site but looks good and price is right...

CM Sentinel Advance

Literally the first I've found in about 30mins of hunting around (at least that isn't overseas).

My confidence in purchasing from a website whose mission statement is in Engrish is...well ya.

It has an appeal, but I just don't think I could adapt to such a radical change, let alone if it would even be possible to perform as well as I do with a mouse. For browsing, and some mmos, it's be ok, but shooters...I just don't see it happening.

Try one. They're cheap. Yes, tracking is slower ordinarily, but you can turn the pointer speed up in Control Panel.

BTW if you can use a mouse left-handed, I used to be absolutely lethal in Unreal Tournament with trackball and joystick.

i dont see how you could ever game on a trackball unless the sensitivity is really high, in which case i assume your accuracy would be terrible. i wouldnt mind one at work, but for gaming i would definitely stick with a mouse. who knows though, ive never tried gaming on one. i also am looking for a bigish mouse. my hand is only about 8" from tip of middle finger to my wrist, but i use a whole hand grip and my brand new G700 just doesnt fit at all. my G7 fit pretty well, but id like something a little wider i think. i hate having my fingers all pressed together. i want it so that if i just rest my hand hanging limp at my side, it would fit into my hand perfectly. i doubt thats gonna happen though. from this thread though im looking at the X5, the Ikari, and the Sentinel.

g500, x5, g700. stay away from claw mice such as the deathadder/mx518/g400 because they're made for little girls.

g700 is definitely not for big hands if you use a full hand grip, which judging my its hand-shaped form is what its intended for. just learned that this week as i posted above. :/

I use the G700 for my hands and since that is not large enough, the Microsoft Sidewinder X5 or x8 should be on your list.

yeah like i said a couple posts above im looking at X5, Ikari, and Sentinel. they all look like nice big mice. just trying to help in case anyone comes here looking for a big mouse and thinks g700 is big, because its actually pretty average sized i think.
