7970 Purchasing Thread

^ gone already. the button changed to "add to cart" for me but it wouldn't let me do it.

In case any of you are wary of using credit cards online (as I am) and are instead using Online Banking, I just spoke with a Newegg chat customer rep and he confirmed to me that Newegg will hold the order as long as payment is received by the weekend (my bank has a 3 day bill pay processing time). I was worried they would not reserve me the card, but appears the XFX reference model will be held for me. Good customer service!

Ordered my Sapphire at 8:54PM Central last night and just got the tracking number.

still sitting at "charged" :(

even once it ships I won't get it for two days. damn living in hawaii. :p

So all those that complained about the pricing must have been tinged slightly green, not sure how many units AMD moved but I'm guessing quite a few :)

With a few reasonable precautions (chief of which is buying from reputable vendors), using a credit card online is no more risky than writing a check at a store or giving your debit/credit card to the kid behind the counter at McDonald's.

Bought mine last night around 6pm pst, no shipping info yet but glad to see other people getthing theirs

Hmm, perhaps you're right, I suppose I will keep the order as is and not risk cancelling it and trying to resubmit, the rep said they would honor the order so we'll see.

On another note, it appears the dark horse here is MSI. I'll keep lurking the egg hoping to find a twin brother for Crossfire...

A Diamond card (reference) just got added to the fold on Newegg.

diamond just showed up as insctock on newegg...powercolor seems to still be in stock...

where do you see number in stock?

Add it to your cart and change the QTY to 100 or something. The limit per customer is 10 so I added 10 to cart, but then it says "Insufficient QTY available" and changed the quantity to 4. A minuted later I set the qty to 10 again and this time the cart updated the qty to 1.

i have to wonder if Newegg knows people are page camping and are intentionally slowily releasing small amounts of stock just to keep us entertained..

looks like there's plenty of Diamonds in stock- let me add a full 10 to my cart:) wish I had the money for just 1.

Just got shipped notification from newegg for 2 sapphires from TN. Hopefully they'll move quick.

only 8 left on amazon

Just checked the page and see 2 left for amazon with the "more coming soon" tag.

edit: 1 left

How is PowerColor as a brand anyways? Never heard much about them.

I haven't used them because I've heard issues here and there, but that's probably no different than any other brand. I know a lot of people that were using powercolor 6970s very happily, so they're probably as safe to use as the next card.

Is there anything technically wrong with the Diamond 7970s that they're somehow not sold out yet, or are they just late to the party?

10+ XFX's (reference) back in stock at Newegg.

The Diamond ones weren't been available until just a little bit ago.
