Looking for a new entry level case? PC Perspective has just posted a quick-n-dirty video overview of the Corsair Carbide 500R and 400R cases that will definitely be of interest.

When Corsair showed us the first versions of the Carbide series in Taiwan during Computex 2011, it was finally addressing the primary complaint that many had about its cases: price. The Carbide 500R can be found today for about $139 and the 400R for under $100.

Steve - I'd personally go for the Corsair 600T - although they are not entry level, they are certainly a bargain if you have a Microcenter near you. Just my 2 cents.

I have the 500R.

After hours of research I picked it over the 600T.

The 500R is widely known to cool better out of the box than the 600T. A corsair rep in the corsair forum stated that the 500R was more efficient at cooling and with more mounting points for additional fans it has the potential to get even better. (looking for link)

CPU Running <40F w/ H100 @ 4.0mhz under full load.

600T is never a better option in terms of airflow and cooling ability. I'd only get it if you HAD to have it for the aesthetic value.

Also metal (500R) > plastic (600T)

I have the same setup and I've also experienced the joy of a 4.4 ghz cpu that doesnt break the 43 C barrier. Makes me happy in my pants. It's the best case I've ever owned, and also the fans are nice and quiet.

I think this will be my next case the only question is White or Black

I have the 400r. Decent budget case. Of course the 650D is nicer, but for sub $100, I do not think it can be beat.

Plenty of room and you can even fit a H100 inside the case in the top.

I have the 400R and i couldn't be happier with it. Compared to what i upgraded from it was absolutely refreshing to see all the expensive case features in a budget case.

Granted I don't have a sandy bridge so there will be no 4.4 ghz @ 43c, i do get to run my i7 920 @ 4.2 ghz @ 65C or so lol.

I was wondering

I know these cases have 2 front fans, But can you mount a 240 rad in front?

i want to buy a carbide 400R but they are not in stock anywhere.

Anyone know when they might be back available?

I've purchased alot at performance-pcs and directron.com w/o issues.

of course they dont have free shipping though, So I'd do a auto-notify at newegg.com and wait til its in stock.

i've got the 500R and very happy with it! The only drawback is the case fan controler and the corsairs fans have dedicated connectors. Some modification needed if you would want to replace those fans.
