I have and love COP.... which one should I buy next? Or would I more than likely like both?

I am not leaning toward either at the moment. Any input would be appreciated!

Happy Holidays!

SOC is better, but only if you install the Stalker Complete mod.

Dude the both of them cost $7.50 for one of the best pc games released in recent years. I mean come on.

Id get them both. The minute you finish SoC youll fiend for Clear Sky.

Get both, worth every penny of that 7.49$.

Just completed my stalker collection with Clear Sky.

OK! Both it is!

Thanks for your feedback. I read some negative things about Clear Sky and I want to see if anyone out there really hated it. I guess not....

SOC and complete mod is a must

Thanks for the heads up... will do.

I am also waiting to see if the Call of Juarez games and maybe Fallout 3 go on sale.... might bite on those too.

Merry Steamas to all! :D

When Clear Sky was released it was far more buggy than the previous game. So that left a bad taste in peoples mouths. Thats all been resolved since Clear Sky Complete was released. If I have any complaint its that I cant run the damn thing on max setttings and I'm gonna end up going out and getting a couple 570's.

Well, that is one of the virtues of not being an early adopter... the bugs are usually fixed (not to mention the great deals!).

COP taxes the crap out of my system... so Clear Sky will probably eat it up too....

Wow, Steam must be getting slammed. It keeps timing out and I can't download shit. I'll wait until it's late and try again.

These games need multiplayer

They actually do have multiplayer, but as far as I know, only the retail versions support it (i.e. not Steam). Admittedly, though, I do enjoy the lonely Metroidish feeling of being on your own in an alien environment.

I played Clear Sky when it was all patched up, but without mods. I didn't have any issues at all.

Wandering the swamps alone in Clear Sky gives one of the most wonderfully dismal and depressing feelings ever created in a game.

I'm still playing SoC, and haven't beat it. I can't wait to play Clear Sky then on to Call to Pripyat.

Last I played I was entering this lab to disable the Brainscorcher. I had a hell of a time getting there and fighting off the bloodsuckers. I'm not sure how much longer I have to go, but it's pretty intense.

Shadow of Chernobyl's Brain Scorcher is definitely up there on my list of favorite areas in any game. I love how everything turns a warm sepia, sounds get muffled, and time seems to slow down as if you're playing a vague memory or a dream rather than a level in a shooter. And it doesn't just toggle on at a certain point, but sneaks up on you so you don't realize anything weird is happening until you're half way through your ascent. It was totally unlike anything I had ever played before.

It's also a brilliant contrast to what immediately follows, which is easily the most desperate and panicky blitz in any game I've ever played. My singular complaint about the Stalker Complete 2009 mod is that it changes a tiny bit of the atmosphere (I can't remember which; it could have been either sound or graphics) so that it breaks the utter immersion I originally felt playing it.

Just wanted to bump this to thank anyone who responded to my post.... I have been playing SoC and loving it!

I think I even like it better than CoP. However, I cranked up the difficulty this time and it seems like you really have to earn what you get and so far, ammo is much harder to come by. I can't believe I didn't get this one sooner! I downloaded the Complete package as you guys suggested. The game doesn't look bad at all for its age and the gameplay is rock solid.

It is rare these day for a SP FPS to not suck... it seems like STALKER is in a league of its own. I really hope they go forward with part 2.

In other news, I also bought FO3 which I am hoping to like (downloading it now). If I like it, I might bite on New Vegas, which is on sale for $5 on Steam.

Happy New Year, Stalkers!

and

GET OUT OF HERE STALKER!

Buy both of them so you can finish the Story.

Now.....Get out of here Stalker!.

I started to play SoC when it first came out, but i couldn't get into it. However, you guys have piqued my interest, I'm going to buy SoC and CS and install the complete mods and give it another shot.

i did the same thing, twice, back in 2007 when SoC released. both times i couldn't get into it. turns out i just wasn't giving it a fair shake. give yourself a couple of hours to learn the lay of the land and STALKER's quirks. once you get into it you'll think "holy shit why haven't i been playing this all along?"

"In a league of it's own" pretty much sums up STALKER,no other FPS game had me so immersed as it did,and I'm an admitted FPS junkie.
I think you'll like FO3,though it's not the masterpiece SoC is,it's still a solid ,enjoyable open world shooter.Between the DLC's and mods available for it,it should keep you busy for quite some time.

Just thought I'd bump this to say I'm officially addicted to SoC, really glad I gave this another shot. On the surface, it's nothing really all that impressive, but something about it just draws you in. I sat and played for 6 hours straight tonight, and I didn't even realize it. To me, that's when you know you have a winner.

My only regret is not buying the other two games while they were still on sale ;)

SoC is unique in the way it just is loaded with atmosphere. I don't think any other game comes close. Gotta love all that russian talk. can't understand any of it, but it just makes the game better.

Just go ahead and buy them for their current price, they're definitely worth it. Who knows where the money is going now though, lol.

I actually liked Clear Sky best of the 3. I'm not a fan of FPS games, and I only bought the original because it was on sale and because I've always been fascinated by Chernobyl. I figured for 5 bucks I'd give it a go.

I was completely and utterly hooked and the franchise has become quite possibly my favorite of all time. I was mildly disappointed with CoP. It was fun, but after while you run out of things to fight. That, and the fact that you never even get to see the Chernobyl NPP (probably doesnt matter to most people but for me that is a big part of the atmosphere) were the biggest drawbacks. It certainly looked great and was a lot of fun.

I prefer Clear Sky over the original because it looks so much better and I like the upgrade/repair system.

You made the right choice buying both, obviously. Everyone has their preferred installment of the series but all 3 are among the best games of all time.

Cool, good to hear, I am looking forward to Clear Sky. I got sidetracked by FO3, but I gotta get back to Stalker. The Steam sale has messed me up! I think I bought about 5 games plus DLC for about $30, but I digress.....

Lets hope really hard for a Stalker 2. It would be a shame to see the series end.

I'll be heartbroken if it doesnt come out, but right now it's looking like it has an O.K. chance.

God I really hope they push Stalker 2 out, but at this point I it doesnt look likely.

I cant wait till the lost alpha mod comes out, its been in dev for a few years now and looks great. from what I have read they are just finishing up, so im hoping it will come out in the next 6 months.

for those of you who havent heard of lost alpha, it takes all the old levels from the original stalker game that were cut and adds them back in with a totaly new story line and new side missions. It looks totaly amazing.

Oh, I'll definitely be buying them! I got lucky and got SoC for $5, it's $20 now. If the others haven't gone on sale by the time I'm finished with soc, I'll gladly pay full price.

I had no opinion on stalker 2 not coming out before, now I'm suddenly very worried about the prospect of it not coming to market.

Meh. Not trying to thread crap but I found FO3 a much better game.
When I first played SoC I was totally engrossed and couldn't stop... That is until I hit a glitch where you couldn't continue the main story. A quick google search didn't reveal anything but i'm positive some SoC fans know what I'm talking about. I put a LOT of time into that game and then to hit a wall with no chance to finish it took all wind from my sails. Honestly tried about 10 times since but just can't stick with it. Bought sequels too, but the bitter taste is still there... Now FO3... Wow (IMHO).

Comparing FO3 to SOC is like comparing Saving Private Ryan to The Longest Day. They are both great movies but one is way more gritty and intense. while the other is a lot more light hearted though with the same general feel. Not that FO3 feels any thing like SOC.

If you liked FO3, play New Vegas its way better. The only dlc worth getting is old world blues, its kinda got that crazy, funny, sciency feel akin to portal. The other dlc suck

They both have their strengths. SoC has an amazing atmosphere and environment and Clear Sky has cool additions such as faction wars, and many improvements.

Ahhh shit ... and you just made me reinstall the Stalker games.

If I were you, I'd wait until it goes on sale again. It is not that the game isn't worth it, it is just that those sales have got me spoiled and made me cheap! $20 for a game seems like a lot of money... lol!
