Steam Winter Sale 2011

The Syndicate FPS reboot was banned yesterday...
What does "banned" mean, in this case?

Because in Germany, it sounded like "banned" really just meant that they couldn't openly display the game in stores. The games could still be legally sold to any adults who asked for them.

Banned = refused classification. It is illegal to sell, buy, play, import or think about.

I put about 80 hours into F1 2010, a full season for Lotus and most of one for McLaren, is 2011 worth getting? I know I'll get some functional changes to the cars like KERS and DRS, and that the driver persona isn't as in-depth as 2010, but can anyone share some info on the actual driving between the two (I have an OK wheel and pedals if they've made some adjustments to the controls as well)?

Anyone willing to get in on this 4 way split for payday? thats $7.50 a person!

Thanks for the heads up...I didn't see that at first (was waiting for it to get below $20 mark) . Snagged it and am just waiting for the next patch now to play it.
You don't need a patch. Game runs just fine now. I am getting 60 fps vsync-ed without any pop in and best possible detail (highest AA, AF etc).

Welp, I'm buying games with money I dont really have to spend, and most likely games I'll never get around to playing:

All three STALKERS
Rage
Defense Grid
Just Cause 2 + some DLC
Metro 2033

All for less than 60 dollars. I <3 PC gaming

I haven't played Rage, but from what I've heard from friends and read around that compared to the other quality games you listed here, you wasted money on it.

Play STALKER first, then go to Metro 2033, you will appreciate Metro after playing STALKER. It has a similiar apocalyptic feeling, just not nearly as forboding but it looks incredible. STALKER is just really, really good. Be sure to check out the STALKER complete mods.

Is it worth it to get Batman: AC for $25 now on steam?

I only haver about $48 left in paypal for the sales.

I actually already previously owned the first STALKER but it was buggy. I'll need to install the complete mod.

I had a non-legit copy of Metro but lost it when I reformatted it. Definitely a great game. Can't wait to finish it.

We'll see what happens with RAGE

Batman: AC is getting great reviews. If you enjoyed AA I'm certain you would love AC.

I bought Duke Nukem Forever for $5 and gifted it to my old roommate. The next morning I had 3 text messages from him about how big an asshole I was.

Was the best $5 I've spent all month.

"The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes."

I'd become used to seeing this lately due to the high volume of traffic to their servers. I wasn't expecting to see it every time I tried to launch Arkham City, a single-fucking-player game. Go away, Steam.

Space Marine was for 20 bucks on Amazon - lowest I saw. Doubt steam would be cheaper.

Is SpaceMarine a Steam title? I still think at $25 its too expensive.

Picked up Skydrift, Blur and the Alien Breed trio today, have all the other good ones already.

Space Marine is a Steamworks game. I just wish the DLC was on sale too. $10 for the Chaos Unleashed is a bit steep.

I agree with ya on that one, but still lots of time left before the sale ends

I can't keep doing this, a few days ago I got a couple games for under $10 now I have a total of $25 in my basket who knows what tomorrow will be.... I think this is their plan.

lololololololol, Batman Arkham City is $50 USD on Aus Steam for today only! WHAT A BARGAIN!

Another bargain: RAGE at $45 USD.

Rip off publishers FTW! I am currently in Singapore, only a couple of hours away from Aus, and everyone here has the privilege of being charged normal US store prices for their steam games.

Their pricing policies really make little sense for PC games which are becoming more rare at B&M stores.

So is Brink worth $5? Based on last time I played it on a free weekend I am leaning towards probably not.

Same price I paid for DNF, but at least that has some nostalgic value and cringe inducing humor, even if it is otherwise a diabolical abortion worthy of being nominated as the spiritual successor to Daiktana.

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are $4.99 each. I never played either game. Will be my first purchases from the sales.

Edit: Jesus... 22Gigs... I'll have these downloaded by the end of the year... stupid slow countryside internet....

Yeah, I have a love-hate relationship with Space Marine and I refuse to buy the DLC for the price they're asking despite the fact it looks kinda cool. $10 for the maps and $3 EACH for skins is not acceptable in a game with an already small community which still suffers from severe lag issues.

Anyway, today I'll probably pick up Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, maybe Brink for $5, I'm still tossing up on Brink as I may just get the Bethesda collection instead.

So far I've only spent $5.50 this sale, $15.50 when I buy DKS. I'm holding out on the collections until I see what individual prices can come down to. I'd like to get Avatar if it falls below $10, and also Dead Rising 2 if it falls to around $10.

I would like to get some big name new games like Assassin's Creed Revelations or Saint's Row 3, but the fucking regional pricing means even on sale they're too expensive for my tastes.

Just snatched up Dirt 3 for $15. I loved the second one, and I suppose it gives me a second reason to keep that "Rapture 3D" audio program on my PC. I wish more games would use it. It's easily the best gaming surround audio I've used, but it seems like only Codemasters licenses it.

How's Rage for 15$?
I know it caught alot of hate over here but for 15$ it doesn't seem too bad.

How long is the game?

Rage can take you anywhere from 10 to 15 hours depending on your speed + side mission completion times.

Another day and I already own everything I want.

Looks like my wallet will get a break from steam today. Maybe Ill head over to GOG and pick up some of their games.

Nothing interesting today. I don't really own anything on the list nor do I really care to own any of them. Maybe DIRT3, but I still haven't really played DIRT1 and DIRT2 which I bought at the last Steam sale, so meh, today will be a quiet day for me. Only spent $15 all up this sale.

meh... not long enough.
My friend spent around 25 hours on it. He is typically normal speed I would say. Everyone seems to think I rush through games so you may want to add like 3-5 hrs tops to that estimate. Either way it is a good game. 15 hours for 15$ is 1 buck an hour. Cheaper than a hooker on crack.

Might grab rage for $15. Bit disappointed that Saints Row 3 isn't on that great a special but I guess $33.49 aint that bad.
