I recently got a hold of a couple 5870s and I'm experiencing some weird corruption with graphics and I'm thinking one of the cards is bad. Anyways the thing is when I first launch a game after a reboot there will be corruption, after quiting the game, sometimes more than once and reloading it goes away completely. BTW it did do this on one of the cards when I was running it all by itself which is why I have a feeling about it being a bad card. But anyways running Windows 7 64bit with the 11.12 drivers and CAP installed.

Yes I did a compete uninstallation and sweep of my drivers and reinstall after I installed both cards. I'm not aware of this being a possible issue with drivers but then I'd like to know what anyone else thinks.

I have a 750w Thearmaltake toughpower with 60A on the 12v rail. Should be enough to power two 5870s. Like I said it did it with just the one particular card which is why I think it's the card, but I just want to make sure before I put in an RMA since it's not a consistant problem.

If you can warranty the cards, then do so. If not, then it's time to warm up your oven. :D

Yeah I am going to try to return it and hopefully get a refund for it. If not then I should be able to warranty it..

Oops dr:tl jk what firebean said!

I'd probly reseat the heatsink before i'd try cooking it ... tho i'd rma before any of the two.

My problem is a lot worse than yours. I get flickering textures and garbled textures until I quit and relaunch the game.

Right now I have the cards hooked up in crossfire and I only experience it when crossfire is enabled, but so as not to think it's a crossfire only problem I did test both cards individual before I set them up in crossfire and the one card displayed the artifacting all by itself while the other did not, which is what is leading me to believe it is the video card itself.

Same as the other card. Idle around 37c load the same at 70c at 28% fan speed. I tried underclocking both cards in crossfire and funny thing happens, my crossfire performance is better underclocked than running stock. Also my performance in single card seems to be better than when in crossfire.

I think when I get up later I am going to take each card out and test them again individually, and inspect them one more time, just to make sure.

It is in fact one of the video cards displaying the problem, the other one shows no such issue when all by itself. Well guess I begin the dance.
