G700 questions

I don't care much for wireless mice, but I'm getting the G700 for a price that's too good to pass up. I will be using the usb cable for it, but does that completely shut off the wireless signal (mouse not emitting a singal), and do batteries still need to be installed while using the usb cable?

I just got my G700 today from Amazon's Black Friday sale.

I have no idea about the first part of the question. Not sure how I could tell if the wireless is active when I have it plugged in.

About the second part. I took the batter out, plugged in the USB cable, and it's working. Though I get an angry flashing red light probably trying to tell me something is wrong with the battery.

I tried to test the wireless being on or off when connected with wire.

I plugged the wireless receiver into one computer, confirmed it was working. Then plugged in the USB cable from another computer. The first computer with the wireless receiver no longer worked with the mouse. So it seems wireless is turned off when wired.

I've been using mine without any issues now. I got it back in October when I started playing Mass Effect 1 & 2. I have logged over 400 hours in total between both games with my G700 without issue. This doesn't count all the other gaming I've done or work. So far the G700 has been flawless for me just like every other Logitech mouse I've owned.

So far my only complaint would be with the side buttons. The forward side buttons seem okay, but the two back ones are a bit closer together and it's kinda hard to press the bottom one.

Honestly they could ditch the bottom row. Front and back. I can't tell you how many times I've hit that bottom back button by accident.

That sounds like something that would annoy the hell out of me. I guess as long as it's not mapped to anything it shouldn't be an issue right?

All things considered, should I keep the thing? I could sell it for a little more than I paid for it and just buy the G500 instead.

I've just sort of retrained myself not to hit them. But yes, you can remap them to nothing. I like mine. It took some getting used to after using the G9x for so long, but I'm glad I made the switch. Give it time and then see if you like it.

I love the shape of the side buttons as opposed to being flat, makes it to where I never hit the wrong button.

I love my G500 quite a bit more than the G700 so far. Maybe I just need more time with the G700. But so far not liking the side buttons one bit.

I'm getting the feeling this G700 is going to just sit in a drawer and collect dust.

If you don't like it and can't return it, then why not sell it and get most of your money back on it?

I got such a good price on it that I don't want to return it. Haha. Guess it sounds weird.

And it is a pretty good mouse. I do like it. I just happen to like the G500 just a bit more. If it had the G500 shape and buttons the G700 would have been perfect. :)

For the longest time the top wired G-series mouse and wireless mice were pretty much the same. The G5 and G7 were pretty much the same. I don't know why they are so different now.

Ugh. I just realized something with these side buttons. I'm use used to pushing straight down and that is how I had been trying to use the G700 side buttons too.

Then I just realized these buttons tilt upwards. I've been pushing on them incorrectly. Ahhh, now if I just move my thumb upwards on the button, it presses much easier. And it kinda explains why the lower buttons were also more recessed. It makes sense now.

I feel so silly not realizing that earlier. It's starting to look up for the G700 now. :)

Figured I'd post here instead of making a new thread. Is the middle scrolling button supposed to have no resistance at all when in non click mode?
If I move my mouse the middle scroll moves without me even touching it scrolling down or up a page. If I flick the scroll down takes 20 seconds for it to stop moving. Is this normal?

There are two modes for the scroll wheel, momentum and the traditional notched scroll. I usually leave the it in momentum mode when using the desktop and notched when gaming. It shouldn't be as sensitive as you're describing in momentum mode however.
