I am using Handbrake (Windows) to encode TV shows from my Tuner.

But sometimes lip synch is off, just enough to be annoying. Not always.

I think it is hiccup at the beginning of the encode that throws things off. Since I notice it happens a lot more if don't trim before encoding (using the seconds counter), but it still happens occasionally when I trim the beginning.

If I playback in VLC the sync is fine, but play in MPC-HC or Pot Player and the synch is off by the same tiny amount.

Any thoughts on how I can fix? Better software?

it is not the encode that is the problem, it is the codec that you are using. VLC uses codecs that it has built in, that is why you do not have lip-sync issues.

The codecs that I use have an option in them to allieviate lip-sync issues if I can remember where the setting is I will post back

MPC-HC, Pot Player also use built in Codecs.

The issue is an encoding problem. I don't have any synch issues playing back encodes I download from other people (unless it is widely recognized that there is a sync issue).

This is just some of my Handbrake encodes of TV I capture with my Tuner card. It is much likely when I don't trim the first few seconds. More than half the encodes where I don't trim have this problem.

When I do trim it falls to 20%. Last night I had it again on one of my encodes. So I re-encoded switching the audio from AAC to MP3, but no change. Finally I did a third encode were I changed the trim second and this fixed it.

Annoying to say the least.
